This is a fun idea! Do you have to seal the embossing powder once it’s on the metal? (Sorry if you mentioned and I missed it!)

No, it shouldn't need sealing. All the pigment and metallic stuff should seal itself within the melted plastic, c x

How do I know if I over heat

It will start to bubble and eventually burn, although using an embossing heat gun should make it quite difficult to get to this temperature, c x
