How To Stop Common Projects Creasing Badly!

  • Common Projects Achilles Low sneakers sometimes crease really badly with the factory lacing and it ruins the shape of the leather and the shoe. In this video I show you how to fix that problem so that your shoes wear a lot better and look a lot better with age. They are also a lot more comfortable to wear afterwards.
    This will work on any trainers or shoes that have the same problem so if you have any sneakers that have this problem then use the same technique.
    I thought this was down to the way I walked but it seems that a lot of people have this problem and I could not find anything on UA-cam with a solution.
    For general creases you can use the ironing method but this video is more about those annoying folds you get when there is too much tension in the laces. For older sneakers, they will already be creased badly but this method will make the shoe a better shape afterwards still. I have used this method on a pair of 2 year old Achilles Low and they look so much better.
    Let me know if this works for you.

    I was literally just considering pulling the laces out and going with the ol' criss-cross after I noticed my CP's creasing and figured the way they came laced had something to do with it. I'll try your way because of its similarities to the way they originally came. Thanks

    Just done my new pair of Artisan Lab Essential Whites using this method, not worn them yet but looking for the ultimate way to lace them up to reduce long term wear on the leather.
    Only issue with this method is that you can't hide the laces and need to be laced from the outside, not too much of an issue but I do prefer to see my trainers without the bunny ear tied laces.

    I just "lost" my right shoe due to creasing which eventually thinned out the not-so-great leather creating a small hole. I wonder if this tip would've helped. Initially I thought it was the leather that was flaking but I was surprised to find a hole. It's a pity, since overall I kept them in good condition. I've been wearing them for two years now and of course I won't pick another Common Project pair again.

    If I do not care about it looking like the factory lacing, would the normal, criss-cross way of lacing shoes be more effective at preventing creases?

    • @HarryHas
      @HarryHas  4 роки тому +2

      No lacing method prevents the shoe creasing, this just stops this particular shoe from creasing in a horrible way. The way they are laced in the factory puts too much strain on one side. The criss cross method is a good way to do it to spread the tension but I just don't like the look with this shoe.

    • @VanCough

    • @HarryHas

      Hi James. Ahh the sqeak. This is a problem with some pairs. My first white pair were so loud. My others dont sqeak much at all. You can try some leather cream on them and see if that helps. A lot of people's calmed down over time but my first pair never stopped. I just got used to it in the end. You could try a bit of vaseline also to see if that helps.

    Oh man, finally a video about this. I tried it though and still have the crease :/ it’s between the first and second lace. No other shoe I have does this.

    • @HarryHas
      @HarryHas  5 років тому +3

      Hey man, if you have had the crease for a long while then the leather has probably got used to it too much but still use this method and it will level out the tension and look better than it did. Also try using this method on the shoe that still has the crease and try lacing it the opposite way so if you went up on the left hand side first then do the right hand side first instead. Sometimes the shoe can be out of line slightly and this just aligns it better. This method fixed my problem permanently with my newer pair. Hope this helps.
