Du hast" (German: You Have) is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released as the second single from their second album Sehnsucht (1997). It has appeared on numerous soundtracks for films, most notably The Matrix: Music from the Motion Picture, How High, and the home video CKY2K. It is featured in the music video games Guitar Hero 5 and Rock Band 3. The song's title is a play on the homophones du hasst ("you hate") and du hast ("you have").

I've seen them live the only 2 times they have been on my country, both times from the first 3 rows, and i can tell you two things: 1. Seen those rockets flying from the stage, passing right over your head, to come back over your head again, and then explode IN YOUR FACE illuminating the whole stage in THAT WAY, has been one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.
2. You wouldn't believe the amount of HEAT that you can feel being somewhere in between those first 3 rows, or even far back (according to some of my friends who were in other parts of the venue) also the explotions are so loud. Those flames are HUGE and hella hot! Both times i ended up with soot stains on my face and neck. Best live shows EVER

Rammstein is (East) German, if you react to more from them, either learn German or read the lyrics and backstory first- some if it is so dark you would not believe it.
Christian "Flake" Lorenz has a very active mind and is very intelligent, he gets bored just playing the keyboard, so he has a threadmill.
Till Lindemann is a former Competetion swimmer for the DDR and slated to swim in the 1980 Olympics, but was prevented by an injury and disciplinary problems (he sneaked out of training camps to buy porn magazines, which was illegal in the Communist East, you are old enough to know what consitions these guys grew up under). Hence he is so buff, it is not fat, it is muscles on an older man. He was born in 1963. Off stage he is a shy introvert, and much of the stage shenanigans and stage persona is to direct attention away from him as he hates it and suffers from stage fright. You can see it in the life versions of "Diamant", which starts with just him and a guitar, and he is shit-scared.

German band. The lyrics of this song are basically wedding vows and they say no, instead of yes. Hyper energetic and unique band with insane pyro shows. I've read elsewhere that the lead singer is certified pyro and sets it all up.

The translation is not really correct.... Du hast (you have) can also mean du hasst (You hate). Its pronounced the same way in german. And the thing is germans don't say you have me... it's only becomes you have when he says the next line you have asked me. Before it's just you hate me. It is a play on words. And it even makes more sense in the context of the whole song.
I'm not that good in explaining, there are other people explaining this way better than me but I hope it is at least a bit clearer now

In regards to flake(Pronounced Flock-Uh) the keyboardist, in his book: It’s the world’s birthday today, he describes in detail all the stage effects that Rammstein have used from the beginning till up to the made in germany tour. The treadmill idea came about because he used to just stand there and play, which he says he doesn’t do very well and because he hates working out mainly because he smokes. He’s the most adventurous member of the group as he loves to just walk around the cities they play in before showtime. The modified treadmill not only has various speeds, it also turns to face either keyboard and the front.
I love her intro because she IS my mother, my sista, my auntie, my niece, my cousin, my BFF. Never change being an amazing dude who lets her talk as long as she fucking wants! My favorite thing about Jay besides the grey. Auntie you would look lovely with grey too if you ever wanna. 😘😘😘

Just to correct the meaning:
The german song heavily borrows of the double meaning of "hast" which sounds like "to have" or "to hate". He disassembles the sentence to subtlety let you know what is going on:
Du - You
Du hast - You have/hate
Du hast mich - You have/hate me
Du hast mich gefragt - You asked me
So even before any more lyrics come along. You got all the story in 4 words:
1. it's about you (the other person)
2. she is a hateful person in general
3. she even hates him
4. but still she asked him THE question - what nerve.
You get the answers later the woman sings "yes" and he screams "no" his voice stressing a "no way"
To me one of the most brilliant lyrics I have ever heard. How 4 words can tell a story like that.

I saw these guys live in Denver Colorado in my 2002 but it was in the winter time and it was indoors so we can have all the pyrotechnics and they weren't the main band they were one of the openersthey weren't real famous in the US at that time but when I saw them on the ticket I was so excited my ex husband speaks German and has family lives in Germany so I knew about them long ago I'm so happy you found them good job you ever suggested this

My suggestion: is to look up English translation for all Rammstein songs because they sing all in German. Their pyro are awesome! Reason for keyboardist, Flake on treadmill that he gets bored. Till Lindemann, singer is a licensed Pyrotechnician who oversees their pyro with his crew for safety.

lol i thinks its like $200 a ticket to see rammstein(rrrahmschstine) in concert cheaper to watch on internet but awesome show.....fun fact these guys are in their 50s now and their east german. some of the band members actually smuggled themselves across the berlin wall to live in west berlin but afterwards went back home.....the guy on the treadmill is flake pronounced flahhhkey. check out the full live show sometimes. be safe
