I can't help but laugh at how much more difficult the true ending is! 10/10 game/story/music its just perfect. I've played every soulslike available, and the true ending version of this boss will go down as one of the hardest final bosses in gaming history. I would not be surprised at all if they adjust the difficult in the first patch.
The timing on her attacks is so off compared to all of the other boss fights in the game. Makes the fight feeling artificially difficult. Currently slamming my head against the wall trying to beat her.
@@itsRiske11 Its attack delays, Dark Souls likes to do this too where the animation is longer on purpose to mess with your timing. Keep at it, there are very recognizable patterns to her. You'll get there. I did. :)
Nine Sols was absolutely a blast. Hands down, the best metroidvania I've played since Hollow Knight. And here, I can't help but think... ... imagine beating Eigong, feeling all accomplished for yourself, and being told that *that* was the easy version, aaaayyy lmaaaaaaao.
I don't get it. How is this a worse ending than the "true" ending? Yi is alive, the humans are alive, the big ship is intact and the solarians can at the very least survive in the Soulscape if not being healthy and cured in their own planet. Either Yi was inmune all along for some reason or he cured the disease. My guess is that maybe he is the lone survivor here? What happened to Kuafu then? Are all Solarians either dead, corrupted by the disease or just brains in jars? I thought there were quite a few of them still healthy in hibernation. The other ending feels like an excuse to have an already hard boss be even harder for no real reason just than extra drama.
The humans are still lightyears from their home completely dependent on Yi who will soon die of the virus, which likely happened or is in it's end stages with Kuafu. Life in the Soulscape is not life, it is "blissful ignorance" that does not compare to real life, which was the point of the lady ethereal plot. Yi is alive but probably hates himself even more than normal knowing that he has essentially no hope of finding a cure where his mentor failed, and that he has doomed shuanshuan and the other humans to life on a dead alien planet. The other Solarians in their "vital sanctums" are still alive but infected and likely to stay that way, living in eternal pleasure within their soulscapes, such that even if a cure is found the vast majority will not be able to adjust to real life on their dead planet. Yi stubbornly holds onto the past despite everyone he cared about being dead or doomed by his allies. His only hope for a shred of redemption is to find a cure which he knows does not exist. In the good ending he atones for his sins, makes the decision to stop holding onto the doomed solarian society, and try to set things right a little bit with the Apemen, though every passing moment with Shuanshuan likely deepened his regret for his actions. Look at how Kuafu, despite his deep relationship with Shuanshuan, to the end barely acknowledges the "apemen" as sentient or deserving of consideration. This is because if he did, he would have to come to terms with being complicit in their genocide and enslavement. Now imagine how the more grounded, pessimistic, realist Yi feels, knowing he masterminded that genocide and enslavement. Actions that in the end, still amounted to nothing, merely a drawn out and horrific death for the remaining Solarians. And imagine how the other humans would feel if they knew that as well. Shuanshuan does, but he does not care. Yi is correct that he is entirely undeserving of the kid's esteem, he knows he is a piece of shit, and even if his plan had worked he would probably still hate himself.
@@glp Worth noting this isnt the only ending. Theres a 2nd one for doing some other stuff (Giving all items to Shuanshuan, Giving all poisons to Ahnong and doing his side quests and doing the 3 doors in the grotto to get an item to give to Kuofu.) After you do this Kuofu will give you a choice before the final fight and if you pick "Apeman" you'll get the 2nd ending (In the files it's called the true ending so it was probably the planned one before kickstarter goals were met)

Glad I beat it before they (possibly) nerf it. That boss is all skill and was extremely satisfying to defeat.

it's amazing just how expressive the game allows you to be while fighting, really is something else
finally found the normal mode boss fight... not the story mode. great play!
today I found out I got the "true ending" to this game.
Honestly, I prefer this ending to the true ending.

👍
really? the final boss is an old lady...
Elden Ring's most infamous boss is a woman who's half dead to a disease she's had her entire life. Quit being a loser.
