Everyone suggesting a level of disrespect was shown calm down a wee bit. They're friends and family who have come to see their children, brothers husbands etc pass out as RM's. Don't forget that it's the first time they have seen them in this way. When I went to see my brother's passing out parade we laughed, not out of disrespect , but out of sheer astonishment for what these men were and what they are now. They aren't showing disrespect in the slightest.
This has to be one of the smartest and best if not the best pass out parades for any unit of any service that I have seen. I passed out into the RAF Regiment in 2004 and this is way better than what we did. Makes me want to join the Marines now! If only they had a reserve unit in N.Ireland!
Congratulations on your hard work. I'm impressed with precision & fluidity that you & your troop performed the drill. It's speaks highly of all the Royal Marine Commando is based on. I know that required much pride &sacrifice to execute the with a high level of professioalism. I'm an American while I like both the U.S. & I'm more impressed with the sacrifice & traditionalist of the Royal Marine Commando over that of the U.S.Marine Corp.
Mark Vehar wait a minute... I've TRAINED with both... both have good and bad! But, as good as these guys are, you can't compare them to the USMC Silent Drill Team... you'll notice that there are verbal commands being issued... My Silent Drill Team would've done this in complete SILENCE! The only sounds you'd hear, is the sounds of hands slapping against metal and wood... that's the huge difference!
Aaron Freeman this isn’t a silent drill team that’s why. It’s just a passing out parade for the families to see the soldiers perform after recruit training.
A good passing out parade lads! If you and the USMC Silent Drill Team keep practising, one day you may aspire to the same echelon as the Queens Colour Squadron of the Royal Air Force Regiment Continuity Arms Drill Team, who really are the best in the World!!
If you're gonna laugh at this, do remember that the men you see in this video have been trained into some of the finest killing machines on the planet.

Secret is to have a couple of the guys, that would sound out the timing, just loud enough for your Oppo's to hear, but not so loud that the crowd hear it. Kings Squad 259 trp 1979. Stay safe, my Merry Band of Brothers.
sounds like "the gael" by dougie maclean, but with a few differences? like the trumpets i think, but the gael was the theme tune for the film "last of the mohicans"
Good effort, only a few errors, but that's to be expected after only a week or so of Kings Squad. The broken Nod on crutches should have done the centre dressing crutch and all.....that would be worth seeing. Not quite as good as the Kings Squads I took through, but close. LOL.
When the three fellas marched on with the rest of the squad at the 9 minute mark, I can tell that one obviously couldnt do it because he was on crutches, but what was wrong with the other two?
+Fred B. I was the Drill Instructor (DL) for this Kings Squad, that's my voice giving the commands. Every single movement of the display is in the Queens Regulation BR for Drill. I only got told about this clip yesterday as I wasn't aware it was online. This is the basic drill every RM recruit learns. The way it has been presented is for the benefit of the parents and friends of the young Commandos on the Parade. Glad you enjoyed it - the Kings Squad have only 1 week to learn all the routine from scratch. This troop was decent enough to do more complex moves albeit with a couple of mistakes as would be expected when in front of loved ones. Thanks again
Sadly it's no more, part of the Sodexo catering contact prevented any other food outlets on camp. He moved to the car park for a while then Dutchy died (which era you are defines who you think of as Dutchy as it has been Grandfather, Son, Grandson over the past 40yrs or so)!
Tis good but the reason I like the US Marine Silent Drill Platoon better is because they actually drill with the rifle and don't just march through each other.
it would have been that or the practice the week before, they wouldnt have been allowed to do any further tests if they had injured themselves on one of the other commando test
I thought this was a "Silent Drill" display, did I hear a few times what sounded like 'Parade Orders' being called out ... or was that someone heckling???.
yeah, i'm not certain, but i'm an RM cadet and i wasn't allowed to do a parade because i had done my ancle in, so i think thats it, on the 30miler probably
The Royal Marines do not do silent drill. Silent drill is not difficult it is choreographed like a dance is. The Band Service do complex silent drills in their displays. The RAF silent drill squad are formed by recruits at the end of their initial six weeks training. All moves are learnt during basic square bashing, they are then sequenced. With a metronome in your head and counting the silent drill is performed. It looks impressive but it is not difficult. Ex 40 Cdo RM.
Try and put these guys up with the US Army's Old Guard Drill Team or the US Marine's Drill team?I would like to see these guys spin Lee Enfield SMLEs.It can be done. The Danish,Germans, and Russians put spectacular dispalys. The Russians used SKSs which is difficult compared to M1 Garands,K98K Mausers,M14s,and M1903s.
+reddevilparatrooper so you would put a recruit troop up against cherry picked nco's that the US drill teams use...laughable idea there, though the US teams marching looks an awful lot like strolling
So.....You had to Yankee Doodle, Americanize, good old Brit drill?....You should be ashamed of yourselves......The Brits, Canucks, and the Commonwealth don't need any lessons from the lazy Yanks lads....You should of left it alone and stuck to the QR&O's......
Whilst admittedly '''Not''' to the standard of Q.C.S. or the thumbprints ( Guards) you , nevertheless did an ally job given the time you had ''on the square'' with your baby cabbage lids. Good effort!!!

Why someone would laugh I know not why. Brilliant as one who has carried out knows.

Jesus Christ that was good. Makes me want to be a bleddy bootie. Almost makes me want to retract my application to the army. Almost.
so looking forward to my selection now!!!!!! how much was there to remember for this routine???
1:16 I didn't see any shell casings ejected onto the parade square?🤔🤔
James Le Commando likely have the gas plug turned to off so the gas system wouldn't eject the empty shell
Red barrel the 9 'o' clock position?

Same question as Mrmattymcg here, but anyone in the band service, what's the name of the tune played during the arms drill?
Not the Silent Drill as detailed at Earls Court with Taff Morgan as RSM.
How no-one mentioned that the band is playing 'The Last of the Mohicans Theme'?

is your son Adam F?
Cos that was pretty bad lol, hello btw
This is not silent, someone is giving orders.
Then they finish their drill to the beat of the music.

That's because they are recruits.. not a drill team
Awesome. I find it pathetic though that people can’t shut up and watch.
Good drill marines

Why do people have to laugh at anything that a) makes them feel uncomfortable, b)that they do not understand.
Shame about the mumbling in the back ground, very un-British. Well done boys, bloody good show.

Fantastic shame about that woman taking nonstop
they probably just had sprained ancles or something, so if they did they whole thing it would damage their legs...
I heard commands that means they aren't a truly a silent drill team. The United States Marine Corps silent drill team is much better.
Well of they are better. The usmc silent drill team literally practise for weeks or even months to become perfect. This is just a pass out parade.
