⏩ Video Question: Does thsi theme get topped in the franchise????? This was really really good
For live content catch me on Twitch. www.twitch.tv/drumrolltony
Honestly very hard to say, there are so many amazing soundtracks among all the Fromsoftware games. I feel like there are better "hype" songs to get you in the mood for a hard fight such as Gael’s theme (that I would also consider to be really really good) or songs that are a bit better at the emotional aspect but this is probably among the most musically impressive and conveys both hype and an emotional tone very well. I honestly know very little about music so it’s hard to comment on quality and I can’t say for sure whether this theme gets beat or not.
I'd love to see you react to vords theme
I played this game from beginning to end an absurd amount of times and my favorite tracks from the Dark Souls 3 OST are as follows;
-Soul of Cinder
-Slave Knight Gael
-Pontiff Sulyvahn
I'd say this theme is only topped by one piece and its from the same game , Slave knight Gael
If we count in Bloodborne I'd say Laurence the First Vicar or Gehrman the First Hunter tops it, but only form the Dark Souls trilogy? kinda hard
Maybe "Firelink Shrine" from Dark Souls 3 as a more calm but amazing theme
Don't worry about it being too loud; this theme is never played loud enough anyways.
And not enough times
TRUEEEEEEE
except when I exit to menu and get instantly destroyed with how different the volume is compared to the game.
@@Ozone946came to say this exact thing 😂
Though the SWWWIISHHH sound is always trying to rupture my eardrums 💀
I literally never hit start until the music loops
Dedicated
I love how Dark Souls 1 and 2 are so calm on their title screens, and then 3 is just so bombastic.
It's an end to an amazing series. Amazing of FromSoft to go full out with it. Just gives that epic feeling of intimidation of what's to come, but also courage to try to overcome that intimidating feeling
You've gotta have a baller ass theme for the final game in the series
@@HowToPlatHope Eldenring gets many games
It's the epic respawnable battle royale race to the first flame after all.
I see it as the world itself finally crying with joy for the cycle will finally come to a end, especially sense in my headcannon I that every undead was the same one from before who just so happened to have his powers and equipment eaten by the first flame as fuel, now in the third game the world is crying for it's final hero to finally put a end to this nightmare
The coolest thing is: This ost was originally made for the last boss fight, Sullivahn at the game developing period. Unfortunaly, FromSoft decided to change the game, so they shifted Sullivahn from final boss fight to (some kind of a) middle boss fight, giving him new theme. But the first one was so good they decided to put it as a main theme of the game, menu theme. That's what separates this Ost from DS1 and DS2. Theyre more calm and sad. This one in tragic, grand and ambitious.
And it fits the vibe of the game perfectly, with the whole thing of the world being broken and dying
Is that really true? Hard to imagine sullivahn as the final boss, cool fact though
@@afloatcashew6828 Well, his moveset and visual design were completely different from what he looks now, but concept of wielding 2 giant swords in 1 hand each was still, because he has working but unusable animation for the start of the fight. Idk how the fight was planned to be and how many bs mpves he had, but someone said that he was too hard at the developing so now he's just nerfed self from the past
Also i mean it is like perfect Main Menu music adds a grand finale feel in being the end of the Dark Souls trilogy. So it def fits. (I also have a soft spot for dark souls 1s character creation music)
I do like the new theme they used for him, telegraphed a lot about him which was sick
I hate this theme, I always struggle to press the start button because I want to keep hearing it
Then you don't hate it hahaha
Same here lol
Strongest boss in DS3
yo Im still struggling with that to this day
@@NOORYOUNIS not very bright are you?
This is one of my most favorite ost ever. It's so good. And I love the composer, Yuka Kitamura. Fun fact, that singing is actually her voice. I loved it so much that I decided to write a 5 page analysis and musical breakdown on the composition and on Yuka Kitamura. It was an assignment from my music and culture professor. And then I wrote 2 pages for sword saint isshin. Also made by yuka kitamura. And there are many many many other compositions she made. She's a singer, cellist, violinist etc. Although she has many social media posts, she likes to keep her life personal, unlike most celebrities. Sadly, there are rumors of her retiring. She is a mother, after all. I just hope her the best in whatever she's doing. Can't wait to see the video and what you got from it. Btw, there's letters to this one, and they're really good.
💯
I wish I were as smart as you
@@LiverussGaming whaaaaat naw mate. Why do you say that?
very cool info, thanks
Yeah man, her work on every from project is just out of this world. I'd love to see your takes on bloodborne's old hunters.
Yea, i could sit in that menu for hours, both because this OST is a masterpiece, and because i needed some rest after constantly dying in some swamp area
i hate this location, especially place with basilisks
@@mr.unknown5800 I thought it was the worst Fromsoft swamp area until I got the layout down. Valley of Defilement still takes that medal.
It’s really not that bad I just sped through the area on my first play through by following the fires
still not that bad such swamp in DS1
Wish they just played this song when resting on a bonfire
I get goosebumps everytime I hear this theme.
absolutely
The last part is just...
@@Russo_Von_Carnificia Perfection...
Trust us .. More than half of the player base will listen through at least once of that Main Menu music and then start playing the game.
Myself Included..
I agree man
100%
You know the music is good when you just laugh because of how good it is.
Anyway, knowing that you visualize music, it's very interesting how you view all of this stuff.
Darkeater Midir, Slave Knight Gael, Soul of Cinder, Twin Princes of Lothric are such powerful DS3 tracks. Bloodborne continues it with Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, Ludwig the Accursed and the Holy Blade, The Living Failures, Gehrman The First Hunter, & Laurence The First Vicar.
They are all masterpieces that make you feel a certain way, being about the characters they are made for, telling their story to you through their frenetic and soulful notes.
Just restarted my DS3 playthrough yesterday and heard the Lothric and Lorian OST for the first time, what a song… Also what a fight
@@mrShade-sb1th yeah, it hits absolutely hard, the first phase is already beautiful but when the chorus hits you get overwhelmed bt emotions
@@mrShade-sb1th twin princes ost was my favourite and do listen to the "gravetender and greatwolf " ost , such an underrated ost in all of dark souls.
can add 'the final battle' from Elden Ring to that list.
and remember ..overwatch won GOTY ...probably for laying the foundation of rule34
Well, since you did the main theme, it's time for boss themes !
Abyss Watchers, Dancer of the Boreal Valley, and many more !
God please do watchers en dancer!
Me gusta mucho, Iudex Gundyr, Ornstein and Smough , Vordt, Nameless king ..
Dancer is pretty boring
Vordt is pretty good
midir da best
The best part about this theme is that it is insanely loud and used on the start screen. A fun little fact about the start screen: If you change the audio in the options menu, those saved options don't get loaded until AFTER you get past the start screen. This means even if you turned the music volume down in the options, the game will always start at full volume and destroy your eardrums. As mad as you'd think people would be about that, it actually fits the game very well.
The day i play the game just to listen this music, leave it on main menu without actually playing the game 🤣
haha bought the game for the soundtrack
@@DrumRollTonyReacts hope you are having a blast and ofcourse alot of dying 😆
@@DrumRollTonyReacts bought the soundtrack and it came with a free game
On my 1st playthrough of dark souls 3, I would sit down and listen to the whole main theme before loading my file every single time.
Now on my 5th playthrough, I still do that every now and then. That main theme is so fantastic that I just never get tired of it
Bro, same. You just got to appreciate it. My brother don't even play and he'll stop for a listen too 😂
I do that same thing too! (I just got it last month)
@@aant429i just got it this week. Always wait until the song is over to play 😂
@@panditas7679 it's so good definitely my 2nd favorite next to halos theme
I recommend listening to “Majula theme” from DS2. My fav game ost ever
Definitely my top five
PLEASE do more soulsborne tracks it’s a goldmine of beautiful orchestration and heavy brass
Dark souls 3 has such fucking beautiful strings on Yuka kitamura’s tracks as well
Let him do Bloodborne boss music :D
hi Liszt
I'm one of those players that wouldn't press START until a cycle went through. The game's soundtrack is amazing.
Started playing DS3 today and was setting up my controller while in the main menu and got caught off guard by the music and how fantastic it sounded in my ears and thought to myself that this is going to be a GREAT game!
This theme is a LEGEND. Sometimes you just sit in the menu and listen to this masterpiece.
Dark Souls music is all around pretty fantastic. It really adds to the setting of the game. It evokes emotions of valor and despair, harmony and discord, at the same time.
The music of a hero, who is all alone. Whose story will never be told, as there is no one to witness it.
This theme captures the world and the purpose of the Ashen One perfectly. In a world where everything is lost, when the age of the Gods that's been prolonged passed its natural cycle is finally reaching its end, the Ashen One must arise to ensure the age of Fire is extinguished for the age of Man to arise as it should've many aeons ago.
The first time I heard this theme when I booted up the game I got chills, and I got them all over again listening to your reaction to it. What a masterpiece of an OST, best one in the series IMO. I would highly recommend checking out the Abyss Watchers or Twin Princes boss themes.
We gamers need to thank Fromsoft and Yuka Kitamura for having the pleasure of being able to play such a masterpiece.
Like u said! Literally every time i booted up dark souls 3 i sat through one cycle of the main menu music because its so good!
Another great track from DS3 is Slave Knight Gael's theme, it's stunning to listen to
Would like to die to that track when the day comes
My favorite OST is Gael's. The leitmotif in it calling back to the main menu theme is amazing and brings everything around full circle in my opinion.
I think it's crazy how videogames have evolved as media. From player retention to music, games are so much powerful than any movie or show could ever be. Dark souls 3 for example has such amazing osts that I don't think any other media (aside of other games) can replicate.
this song made me listen opera
8:08 I remember sometimes get on the game and listening to the music like 4 times before actually playing the game it's so beautiful I couldn't bring myself to stop the music
The Soulsborne games all have killer OSTs. “Gwynn, Lord of Cinder”, “Vordt of the Boreal Valley”, “Ludwig, the Accursed/Holy Blade”, “Great Wolf Sif”, “Lichdragon Fortissax”, “The Final Battle”, “Soul of Cinder”, “Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower”, and so many more bangers.
You should absolutely listen to more songs from these games.
Best way to listen to the Souls series's arguably best track, Slave Knight Gael, is to first listen to Transitory Lands. When you listen to Slave Knight Gael immediately after, it feels like an absolute perfect reprise
I *LOVE* hearing good, strong brass. The level of intensity it hits near the end *WITHOUT* fracking ? I always get chills when I hear it. As a former Trumpet player, it takes a **LOT** of air, and a **LOT** of body/breathing control to hit notes, bring them riiiight to the edge, and release it without losing your tone, or control. Such a wonderful technique.
DKS3 has some of the best music in the franchise imo. The Main theme, Yohrm, Dragon Slayer Armor, Lorian and Lotheric, Soul of Cinder...
yeah. inside ds3 there's a couple of annoying tracks, but others are absolute bangers. i could simply listen to ds3 ost, can't say that for other ds games
Tbh I’d say dark souls 3 has the most consistently good music in the franchise, although I haven’t played bloodborne yet.
Count in Gael's and Watchdog's theme too
You NEED to do more music from this series, there are three games and each of them has 10+ songs I would consider S-tier music. The other recent games by Fromsoftware, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, are all incredible in the music department too. I recommend you check out Vordt of the Boreal Valley from Dark Soul III, Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower from Bloodborne, and Iron Golem from Dark Souls I, but really you can't go wrong with Fromsoft music, they just don't miss.
The entire soundtrack is a story in of itself. Darkeater Midir, Abyss Watchers, Yhorn the Giant, Soul of Cinder, Lothric and Lorian, and the Main Theme are all my favorites. They’re on my workout playlist simply to get me hyped.
Literally, Metal is all good but working out to this is as good as it gets lmao
imagine voting for the fucking destiny 2 theme over this... lmao
When it comes to OST, Dark Souls III is my personnal favorite of the whole series, including Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring.
There are so much bangers it's actually hard to pick one to recommend. Pontiff Sulyvhan, Abyss Watchers, Slave-Knight Gael, Nameless King, Darkeater Miri, Twin Princes, Soul of Cinder (Wich, when you have the context, is probably one of the smartest OST ever made for a game)... Even B-Tier tracks are awesome. Yuka Kitamura did an incredible job on this game.
Exept Curse-rotted Greatwood. I still believe the compositor felt asleep on his organ or something, and no one noticed.
I'm so glad to see more soulsborne music on the channel! Bloodborne especially has a lot of my favourite pieces of videogame music from all time. One of the best pieces from it is Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, which is by the same composer as this, Yuka Kitamura! Both absolutely beautiful pieces of music.
What I love about this theme is that it's essentially a boss fight. If I heard this played during a final boss fight I wouldn't at all be surprised. It's almost as if the makers of the DS3 wanted you to feel like the game itself is a boss fight; as if you're supposed to feel weak and out of your depth. This is all the reason why it's my favourite title theme in the series, even compared to Elden Ring. Elden Ring's main theme gives me the feeling that I can kill anything, it hypes me; DS3's main theme makes me feel like I'm immediately going to get absolutely wrecked by everything.
Despite it losing the poll I hope he does react to some of the Destiny soundtrack eventually. Especially Deep Stone Lullaby and the Last Array.
I was about to comment this! d2 has some incredible music
Athanasia is my favorite Destiny ost, the synths ❤
Journey is also good.
Gotta do Godskin Apostle theme from Elden Ring next if you havent already!
BLESS YOUR REACTION, I WISH EVERYBODY WOULD REACT TO THIS
best music intro in a game.....no discusion
My fave OST of all time
This is one of my favorite title screens. It has a flair that most themes are missing, they typically go for a safe and calm opener.
I 100% have stayed on the start menu to listen to this song and get hyped!! It does a great job to put you in the mood to fight gods and dragons
Kitamura is absolute fire! This theme is thematically perfect and exquisite at a technical level
there's something about that chord they chose for the first chord of the peak of the crescendo, its so majestic and sad at the same time, really feels like the desperate struggle in a fallen world that the game is!
The souls series does not have a lot of music compared to most games these days but when there is a music track, it doesn't mess about.
Love that hammer hitting an anvil sound really does a lot for the intensity
What a timing, I just started playing the game again and listening to the music reactions
Miyazaki: don't worry it's just the main menu theme, no need to go hard really
The musical team: 🔥💀🪘🎺🔥🔥💀🔥🔥
This ost is actually an entire dark souls 3 adventure compressed. Fading ember trying to re-ignite the failed and soon to be doomed world...
I've been waiting for this. Thank you very much! Probably in my top 3 song of all soulsborne series OST.
That violin really hits hard at the end. Really tells a lot.
All the music in this game tells a story, especially when the second starts.
I recommend Abyss Watchers, Slave Knight Gael and Soul of Cinder as they paint a clear picture of their story through the music.
My personal favorite though is Pontiff Sulyvahn but I feel like most dont get the full picture on him.
this was one of the best reacts I've watched, straight to the point, guess i'll be following you
I love dark souls. Its always nice seeing people enjoy it in even if its just the music. 1:26 gives me chills everytime. This song is just so good
When my friend first play this theme, thats when I decide to be a souls fan
W lmao
I dont think a main theme has ever gotten me so psyched to resume playing a game than this one
1 and 2 are the calming ones that remind you that you’re safe here and you are choosing to take this journey and venture into the unknown. 3 is the unknown pulling you in and you can’t go back until the lords are brought back, and the flame is rekindled.
the quality of the theme says much about how good that game is. Great video btw!
Dark Souls... what a game... I fell in love with the first DS, then the second, and went through the third at the start of sales. 7 years ago.
And I just wanted to write exactly what you said at the end of the video 8:08 , every time I started I didn’t press start until at least one cycle of this excellent music had passed 1 full circle.
Now, as I listened to it, tears came to my eyes. How the context and meaning of all games synergize with this poetically written music full of delicate dramaturgy. Music of my soul.
...Dark Soul )
so interesting, i like the way you can hear the music, and the fact I was listening to the orchestral version of this 10 min ago, and that you tell exactly what was happening is pretty impressive. Thanks for that have a good day
Dark souls is such a good game i love the music too..........
Everytime I turn on the game, I just sit and listen to the whole piece...
I used to sit through at least 3 cycles of this menu music
This theme is literally 'the calm before the storm' moment. You were given a moment of peace and tranquility before embarking on a deadly journey that awaits you.
I love how this main menu theme has the feeling of the end of an era, and to Embrace the Dark.
used to love sitting at the opening scene listening to this banger on repeat
Epic and eerie. Fits Dark Souls 3 perfectly. Though, this theme would have fit Elden Ring as well.
In my opinion, it’s too threatening and depressing for ER. This song screams at you that it all ends here, and ER screams at you to get off your fucking ass and go hug a woman.
i listened this theme like 500000 times and still get goose bumps every time
Great pick! One of the best OST of all time, and great reaction.
I put over 1000 hours into this game mostly PvP and that opening screen music has to be my fav of all time. Yes i know im a dumb fanboy idc it’s perfect on loop
Such an amazing piece of music. I'll just sit at the title and let and it play. Truly a masterpiece.
You should check out the track "Soul of Cinder" from the same game.
That theme sure does hit hard. Hits even harder if you're invested in the game.
Ah yes the game in which the start menu has a boss theme.
🤣that's awesome
20 seconds in and you KNOW this man knows what he's talking about. The amount of time I spent just scared sitting at the mains screen, too scared to press continue because of the music lol.
just the real darksouls lover will get some tears with this theme
I would never get over the fact the unlike other games title screen is some chill music in some cases.
You listen to this before setting the subtitles and the brightness of the screen.
Yuta Kitamura is amazing
These Souls games have some really interesting music. They really capture the vibe.
So this song plays right at the intro as you turn on DS3 and it's one of those where if you didn't turn your volume down beforehand its gonna blow your friggin ear drums. I have it ingrained in my brain forever for that reason lol
The great thing about Dark Souls is that music is mostly reserved for boss fights/important events so when you play it's mostly silence and clatter of armor and weapon. Then you go to boss arena and you get some epic music. Truly a masterpiece game, not only by gameplay.
When I start up a game in the morning, I usually leave it on the menu and go to cook my breakfast/brew my coffee. Souls menu music is always blasted ❤
You called it, every time I boot the game I listen to the track once before playing
That’s so crazy you mention if players listen to it a full cycle before hitting start because I am absolutely one of those players. Even with the Elden Ring intro OST I still think this is one of the best openings in a video game ever.
4:30〜曲調が変わる直前に真顔に変わるのが好き
fun fact: this theme was actually for a boss fight, but plans changed and a madlad made it the main menu theme, and it fits perfectly.
I was always the guy that would listen to the entire thing before playing for the day lol, amazing vid man
Same before playing and also after 😂
I'm so glad that I'm getting to a point with my ears that I can hear the stuff happening before u say it 💪
Excellent
If you like impressive video game music, I cannot recommend another song more than "God Shattering Star" from Fire emblem three houses.
It is a audio spectacle.
AND THIS IS JUST THE MENU
i am one of those people that lets the music play through at least once before i play. its what sets the tone for the game in my opinion.
No other game managed to make me fall in love with the whole franchise after hating on it all my life, but also it gave me the biggest trauma any game could. But I still somehow absolutely love it.
Can't say how many times I let this game just loop on the splash screen. Fromsoft hires the best.
NO WAY IN HELL HE HEARD MY REQUEST GOD BLESS YOU TONY CAN NOT FUCKING WAIT !!!!
I remember booting this game up at launch and just sat there at the menu screen for minuets just absorbing it all in.
