Great series, your vids are honest and fun.. even when it’s tough! Biking is never always plain sailing. It’s great to see you getting out and doing it on your little bike… there’s many out there with £20k bikes etc that just don’t go anywhere except local posers meetings
Looking forward to more ❤
Just got to the bit about the fuel gauge, I never trust them, set your trip meter to 0 when you fill up, best way to know your range👍
And over time you should get an idea of what you can cover per tank, 150 to 200 miles is a fair average for most bikes I'd say.
Well done you, after just six months of riding. The little Enfield proved you don't need a big bike to go touring you just have to take a little more time, which is what touring is all about. If this inspires anyone to get on two wheels and explore it's a job well done...
Thank you Henry. 😊
Very well done Lass, get a set of Oxford heated grips for the bike, an absolute game changer for the colder months.
Noted, thank you! 😊
Seconded
Hot grips? ♨️👀👀👀🔥
Awesome👍😎
Charlie, you are an amazing , genuine and a lovely person, this came across so much in your videos. Thank you so so much for sharing your road trip … I loved every minute. take care and stay safe…… 😀
Thank you Pete. 😊
The "wobble" is part of the journey imo. It's normal and fine! You got yourself out there and experienced new stuff and people in exchange for a bit wobble time. Part of decompress I guess. Tbh, if I had to do the job you do on daily basis I, would wobble a whole lot more! You are cool😎👍
What a great adventure, thanks for taking us along. Can the older person tour solo? Of course they can. In all the years I have ridden bikes I have never thought of touring... until a year ago, when I did 2000 miles up and down the UK in seven days, camping every night... I loved it. North Wales is amazing if your looking for another adventure, I was there this year. The Fosse Way is a great road, I took it north last year on my way to Beverley, just North of Hull. And touring on a 350 is all about the route, ignore the motorways and check out the old A roads. EDIT: I forgot to add, I'm 63... 62 when I rode to Lands End and later John O'Groats (and Dunett Head) in the same year. My first two motorcycle camping trips.
I did enjoy the non motorway route. 😊
North Wales is fab , just done 3 days around there brilliant roads
Great videos and hats off to you … I live in Devizes and we are so lucky to have great places to explore
Well done loved the series ,was thinking of where to go and you inspired me so ive just done my first tour same time as you up in scotland, i went to Skye though, covered 1100 miles in 4 days at the grand old age of 61 ! Have a honda nc750x and loved every minute, already thinking where next
That's brilliant Stephen. 😊
Sold my nc so regret it. Had dct wont have another but be a manual
@@volt8684 yes i have the manual love it
Trust me 61 is not a grand old age. It's an age where we are more confident and comfortable with who we are. Go for it bud and enjoy your adventures. 👍
Stephen, you should have jumped on a ferry from Uig and visited a real Island.....maybe next time but drop me a message if you intend to! Roads are rubbish on Skye - play a game of avoid the pot hole! 😆
19:30: slightly missing the point of the roundabout aircraft ..................... sir frank whittle was mainly famous for inventing the turbo-jet engine. if you discount nazi doodlebuds, sir frank invented the JET era................ jus sayin. you're welcome
I'm so pleased that I stumbled upon your channel. What a breath of fresh air to have someone being so natural. Well done you, and I hope our paths will cross on the road one day. Keep up the good work ☺️
Thanks Keith. 😊
I've just bought the Meteor and I'm 68. I am planning a similar trip for September. Then the French Alps, next Summer. You are an inspiration. Well done.
You'll have a brilliant adventure. 😊
Being allowed the opportunity to watch a beautiful young woman venture out into the great unknown then seeing/hearing your new found confidence at the end has been awesome! I am looking forward to seeing what comes next. Keep on keeping on!
Gosh, thank you Reg. 😊
Just go for it girl. Do whatever makes you HAPPY. In and on whatever way you like. I love it too. TAKE CARE. STAY SAFE.
Glad you enjoyed your first trip well done it was a bit ambitious after only six months riding but you did it good to
See you home safe looking forward to more from your channel well done
I guess you don't know what you can do until you try. 😊
As an over 80 exbiker, l believe you did brilliantly. I have done lots of this, at home in Australia, 500 miles is a realistic target.
I have signed up for more.
Stu Fillingham, from Hull, can a source of information, regarding Royal Enfield.
Thank you Charlie - a great, well-made series that took us through your experience in a really accessible way. You've now got those lifetime memories!! I can thoroughly recommend Europe for a trip and look forward to your next adventure. It's made me think as well - despite all my experience (40 years of riding) I don't think I've ever done a solo tour - always been with friends.... hmmm - maybe it's about time 🙂
Get out there Ian 😊
You should be very proud of yourself. I have family in Scotland too, but I wouldn't undertake riding from Sussex especially alone. Lol x
Well done Charlie, onwards and upwards.
1:40 Selby Abbey! Blimey Selby was my old stomping ground as a kid! 2:37 is the entrance village I grew up in! Blimey, you're taking me back through the years. Great to see Drax in all it's glory as well!
A marvellous achievement. Well done.
Great video! I'm hoping to travel to UK next year hire bike and travel. 😊
A 50 ans ! 👏👏👏👏👏👍Vous les faites pas,...ou alors juste le matin ...😀😉✌️🇨🇵
Great video slowly following you I will catch up lol x brilliant you are 50 and TUC your bike test I'm not brave enough but I have got a Peugeot metropolis scooter trike 400 cc hope to get out on it again soon nice to see major oak I sure you can camp at Clumber park but the place you stayed looks fab keep them coming you could just do day drives do you follow Richie Veda on his rides worth a look xx
Thanks for taking the time to make these videos and share your trip. Really enjoyed watching them and your bike is great. I've not heard a bad thing about the RE350. So where next, Europe? I recently discovered that I can get a ferry from Ireland to Spain, who knew? So I'm planning, Glasgow to Ireland and then 28 hours on a ferry to Spain. Thanks again and look forward to your next trip.
Maybe Europe next year, maybe Wales this year, maybe a ferry to Ireland..... The world is our oyster! 😊
@@restdayrider I'm embarrassed to say. I've never been to Ireland, It's been on my list for years. Been to Wales though, everywhere in Wales seems to be up a hill. 😂 Saffy Sprocket done an Ireland trip recently, that was entertaining.
@@restdayrider I did a tour of Ireland years ago with a load of mates - had a great time but we stayed in cheap B&Bs and pubs - perhaps a bit easier with the irish climate (ie - it rains a lot!).
@Ziggy Ironic That sounds like your best option if you want to get to Spain without hundreds of miles on a motorway. What are your plans when you arrive in Spain?
@@paullee6663 I'll just see where the road takes me. I hate the Scottish winter so touring around Spain for 3 months sounds like a better plan.
The bike itself with just 100kg to woop around is a plus for me (as a woman of 55).No need for more speed for me as well. The gears channel through electronics would be a reason for not consider buying. I wouldn't want to have issues with it while being on my way in another country far from home... You can get parts and new rubbershoes for the bike, - not sure about the electronics though.
Great tour and well documented. Thanks so much! 😎👍
A very good travelogue, I have seen them all and I agree that smaller motorcycles are often an advantage. My requirement is that they can follow the traffic and the maximum speed of the road, so that you are not overtaken all the time, which is the most dangerous thing. Maybe you will come to Trollrally in Norway in August then, or the Primus meeting? Heh, heh..
Hi Love, what lovely time I have had riding with you. I Packed up 5 years ago when I was 80 years old, two reasons other folk who think they can drive, also they have no road manners today. it`s all me ME. and the other reason if my bike fell over in a lay bye I could not pick it up. you are a great rider I think sometimes you take your left-hand turns a little two wide. thank you for all the vids have enjoyed all. Briddy UK.
Hi Briddy, hopefully you'll think my turns have improved as I've progressed, I was still very new when this series was made. 😊
Love this, really inspirational just to get out there andd ride whatever you've got. Keep riding.
I'm a bit late to the party, just watched your tour to Scotland Charlie, fantastic well done you.
Glad you enjoyed it Ian. 😊
As you ended the phrase that comes to mind is the worlds your oyster, and yes it’s so so true the biking community is amazing, I have met so many interesting fun crazy people, all shapes and sizes, big bikes and small but with a common love of riding.
great videos from a trucker and keep up the good work in the ambilance service as every body needs 1 sometimes ps i also watch RichyVida and his group videos
Well done Charlie, great series. Good luck and keep on keeping on......
Watched through my tv, came to give like and say loved every minute , thanks for taking us 👍🍻
Made the mistake of parking the car in there a couple of months ago then found we could have parked free in the craft centre! Bit of a trek to the tree, even further since parking moved across the road
It’s all about the journey not getting there fast. Have an adventure 😁
How tough you are, keep on going and stay safe❗👍👍👍😊
Well done. Really enjoyed watching your journey 🏍
I've just watched all these videos of Scotland tour a year after you done it. Fantastic! You're an inspiration. I definitely watching more of videos.
Thank you! 😊
Ha! T’was those lovely browns that did it.
After 6 months and you are doing more than some seasoned riders I know. If you are ever planning a trip to Canada give me a call, my wife and I will gladly go on a tour! You are doing amazing, do not stop because bikes are great stress relief.
Thank you Ken, I will remember that for future! 😊
Loved watching this series. Please keep making videos and I'll keep watching. Subscribed.
Thank you. There will definitely be more to come. 😊
Nottinghamshire is my neck of the woods
Thank you, unique and inspiring.
Watched your video from Alabama, USA. Now hooked on your channel.
Welcome to the channel 😄
Loved watching the whole trip. As a newbie to biking myself, you have inspired me to be more courageous & adventurous on my meteor - Daryl. I'm looking forward to watching more vids 🙂
Hi Daryl, glad you're inspired to get out there! 😊
Well done .....just watched all 10 days, couldn’t stop watching.
Hi Lorraine, Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. 😊
I really enjoyed that. I usually get 15 minutes in and get bored, but, for whatever reason, it kept me interested. Well done lassie. I’ve been biking all my life, but only been camping on the bike a couple of times, this year I’m gonna go for it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Stay tuned to the channel. 😊
Just found you on you tube and watched this series! So good. Britain is beautiful off the motorways. I understand even as a bloke at 50 your wobble on episode 3. Went to Spain in a car first holiday on my own and thought I was a sad arse taking a holiday on my own! Felt guilty too 🤷♂️ crazy thinking! Now I want more! Loved it. Nowt wrong with a bit a time for yourself ! Will watch more or your blogs! 👍👍👍
Thank you Colin, and welcome to the channel! 😊
Nice inspiration, I’ve also got holiday in Sept. And planned a trip up along the eastcoast and down the westcoast and the lakes - was wondering about the weather in that period.. but seems to be the same as in Denmark, - No worries then 🤣👍🏴🇩🇰
thanks for nice descriptions along the way.. 👍🎯 best rgds. Henry..
Thank you Henry, I hope you have a great tour. 😊
Rarely comment on UA-cam(once) thourely enjoyed, lovely vids, thanks
Thank you Jack. 😊
Amazing, watched all your vlogs, well done girl, I did France, Pyrenees & Picos in Spain last year, this May off to the French Alps & Monaco. Definitely recommend crossing that channel, Ride safe. 😎
Hi, thank you! I absolutely need to cross it this year. 😊
I’ve just come back from my first tour up to Scotland (from Somerset). It was everything I hoped it would be. It’s a long ride up and an even longer ride back if you know what I mean. The amazing dynamics of the mountains and lochs we’re never ending. No bike issues. Tough ride back on the M6, hot day traffic queues stop start and a dry throat which later turned into Covid unfortunately. Can’t wait to do it again.
Sorry to hear you caught the lurgy, hope you feel better soon and can head out for more adventures!
Just watched your trip, well done. Camping and biking, you can't beat it. Ride safe and have fun.
Thank you George, im planning lots more this year 😊
Fantastic series, really enjoyed it 👍🏴
Glad you did. 😊
I’m a little late in seeing this but I’ve been exploring your other uploads. Quite wonderful I must say. Rain and the challenges of being on the road. To me your challenges and the journey build the experiences that make you as rider want more. You are a treasure.
Thank you 😊
I've been putting off watching this, I hate things coming to an end, but you should be PROUD! 👍❤️😎
I done 500+ miles last year on a little Yamaha MT-125 with a mere 15bhp & now riding a Honda CB500F with 47bhp, which I'd highly recommend if you fancy a little bit more power, but not too much to put us in 1 of them buses you call work vehicles! 😉👍
Thank's for sharing all this Charlie! 👍🙂
Awe thank you John, that's so nice to hear. There will be more to come have no fear. 😊
Brilliant. Took me back 40 years heading to Skye on a 350. Now I have 950 more cc & 120 more horses, still love solo camping. I found out the hard way about sites next to pubs, no sleep until 2am thanks to people still drinking. My 8am departure was a fair bit noisier than it needed to be.
Glad it took you on a trip down memory lane Rod. 😊
Fantastic, Charlie ; be proud of your achievement!!
Thank you 😊
Just watched your whole trip, that was quite a run! You must be well chuffed!
As this was my first few months with a full licence, I was very chuffed indeed! 😊
Hey Charlie , just watched your Scotland trip, excellent 😁. You don't need to worry about your bike only being a 350. I've done rugby in Warwickshire to cheddar gorge and back on my trusty yamaha dt 125r two stroke dirt bike on knobblies in a day. Fourteen hours seven fuel stops four hundred miles and a very sore arse but what a day 😳. Great vlogs look forward to more.
Regards Brad.
Hi Brad, thank you ! There will definitely be more to come. 😊
Hi from New Zealand I've just finished watching your hole trip ...well done you. And I like the fact you road at your own pace ..and camping .
This year I've been riding bikes for 54 years and the love and passion never goes away.
And I've seen the video of your new bike....you go girl and enjoy your ride....but remember it's your ride and you go at your pace.
Thank you Graham, and welcome to the channel. 😊 I'm looking forward to many adventures on Roger the Himalayan. 😊
Just came across your vids, amazing fairplay, got my son on law into biking last year, passed his test on Friday in October, picked his honda 650 up on Saturday, did a 700 mile trip around Wales following Friday, did same myself in 2018 after passing my test, 3 months of riding did a solo tour of Spain, 2900miles in 11days
That's brilliant Peter. 😊
Just binged watched the whole series, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I particularly enjoyed the routes around Scotland, many of which I recognised from trips with the army.
I hope to do the same myself later this year, starting and ending in Bristol.
A great adventure……we’ll done.
Thank you. 😊
Just watched your tour. Fabulously honest vlog. With only 6 months in, that was a brave trip to take solo. Back in '85 I did my first tour of Northumberland and the lake district with pillion on a Honda CG125. It's amazing what you can do when haven't understood it's not possible to do!
Those that are saying it's impossible to do should get out of the way of those actually doing it😆
Onwards and upwards!!
I do like the expression ' it's amazing what you can do, when you haven't understood it's not possible ' , that may well be on my tomb stone!
If you decide to do Europe, I'm an hour and twenty minutes from the tunnel!! French side.. Very welcome. I have a Himalayan.... 😊
I had a go on a Himalayan today, really liked it!
Hi Charlie, Wow what an awesome vlog from an amazing woman, I felt you when you had your "wobble" It`s ok to be outta your comfort zone because that`s what makes us stronger, (Probably a good idea to have your big bro encompassed in the trip ) I`d love to be one of your 50/50 ... phone a friend friends should you ever need one (very knowledgeable) and if you ever find yourself down in the Southwest perhaps we could meet for a cuppa so we could put names to faces and for me to advise on places to visit etc etc as this is a beautiful part of the Country too. I totally agree with your "Summing up summary" (if thats even the correct terminology .. haha) "A little bit proud" come on Charlie credit where credit is due "your an absolute inspiration to others" and should be 200% proud of yourself.. You go girl.... Anyway keep inspiring , keep smiling (such a beautiful smile too.. I`m sure it lights the room) stay strong and best of luck in your adventures ❤.. Muddy
Thank you Muddy! I will definitely beat that in mind, the SW is somewhere i need to explore more. 😊
Hello! i like your trip , and i hope next year to ge tmy meteor 350. can u tell us and put a lnk with your camping seat and table? Thank you and safe roads! 🙂
Hi, the seat and the table were both from Amazo.n. ☺️
Excellent. Thank you. 👍
Great videos. I've been touring in Ireland several times. It's fantastic, so friendly. Hollyhead to Dublin is a good route.
Thank you and glad you had so much fun.
Hi John, I am definitely hoping to tour Wales and Ireland in the near future. 😊
Loved this entire trip, your filming and explaining along the way was at a pace where you feel your on the trip with you…good job……it’s a hoot being on a bike and touring, I got back on a bike after 35 years away and did a trip to Normandy in 2022 for the D Day festival, wasn’t as brave as you as I went Air B&B …am booking again for next year as it was such an enjoyable journey, and the food wasn’t bad either…….keep up the good work….
Thank you George 😊
Welcome to the biking bug Charlie. It's all about the freedom, friendship and leaving the rat race behind you. How about going to some rallies it's about like minded people spending a weekend together and having fun (normally alcohol and music😊😊)
Hi Eric , I've been to a small Enfield Rally here, but yet to find a big one, maybe they'll be next year when the weather warms up. 😊
Hi Charlie
Thank you so much for this series I have waited in anticipation for every episode and I loved ever single one. I am a 60 year old born again biker and I have a BMW 1200 ( old man’s bike but I love it) you have certainly inspired me to do some travelling and camping THANK YOU .
That's fabulous to hear. 😊
I loved my biking trips but I'd not camp again I'll follow you to see how the Meteor shapes up going to get rid of my Honda XL1000 and down size. The REM is what I fancy. 🙂
The Meteor is being amazing. 😊
Charlie well done from an old biker, still loving it though don't do the mileage that I use to.I don't know if you watch Itchy Boots on utube. If not give it a try,, it's a Dutch girl who travels the world on a bike(325cc Honda)She is now in Alaska nearing completion from her start in Pategonia. Lovely lady a real adventura.Well done again the Biker freternaty is 2nd to none.
Oh I do indeed follow Itchy Boots, she's amazing. 😊
Great series, instead of an ice-cream, I definitely thought you should of had an arbroath smokie when there lol 😆. Lovey closing views at the end from what I assume was drone footage when leaving your brother's.
You definitely made the right choice stopping at a travel lodge with the rain that came through the night. That cheese burger did look yummy, I love haggis too, the taste reminds me of brains faggots, maybe thats just me haha.
I've never been to Sherwood forest, good to see the tree that Robin Hood stayed under.
I was right, you did look back and laugh at your wobble 😊, just a good memory now for the rest of your life and more to come 🤟🤙👍.
Cheers for a great evening of viewing, see you on your next adventure 🤙 🤟
Thank you, it did definitely improve. I did some more drone footage on my latest vlog to savernake.😊
Wondering what the coppers think of your phone, mounted up like that; anything ? P.S. As long as you do'nt sound like that "Johnson one", ya'll be just fine.
It's absolutely fine to have the phone mounted like that, it's hands free after all, no different to a car. 😊
My favourite sound is rain on canvas. Sends me straight off to sleep. I slept right through an overhead thunderstorm in the Lake District once when all my friends had fled into the toilet block for the night 😂
I love it too. 😊
Well that was a very enjoyable, many thanks, enjoyed the whole tour which I have just binged watched. Still deciding about getting back into biking after a very long time away.
Hi Peter, I'm glad you enjoyed the series. 😊
Lagatha, did I get that right. what a name for a bike🤩
two thumbs up for the brave girl starting a complete new experience in her life. You made me curious on two things: the girl and the UK as traveling destination.
Take care, keep riding and always keep the rubber side down.
Cheers
Michael
You did, she's Lagertha, the female Shield Maiden Viking, well with her attitude and VK on her reg plate it was a no brainer. 😊 Glad you're enjoying the channel, spread the word to anyone like minded! 😊
Really enjoyed your videos, what a great trip and hats off to you for getting on with some difficult days.. I don’t think I could have done that 👍, enjoyed the visit to Goole you mentioned as I lived there for over ten years and I’m only just down the road from there now a few miles away, great respect to you well done and keep it up, I’m a fellow Royal Enfield fan I have a GT650 Continental and recently got myself a scram great value bikes 👍🏍️.
Hi Ivor, Thank you for your comments. 😊 It was great trip and I am looking forward to many more. 😊
Finally finished had to take a break after the double haggis burger experience. I see the Sheriff of Nottingham has returned. 5 quid is robbery.
Thanks Alan. 😂
Wow what a great trip Charlie, Subscribed and looking forward to Europe ? Phil
Is Europe ready for me ?!? This is the question. 🤣
Love your videos Charlie and you have definitely inspired us to go on an adventure.Keep the videos coming it makes great watching. All the best,Steve&Wendy
Great news! 😊
Im late catching up on all your videos, which are truly enjoyable. When you visited selby you were quite close to "squires cafe" the famous biker cafe (although its no longer in its original place, its moved to bigger and better premises). So if your back up this way again call in and i will buy you a coffee 👍
Hi Mark, Thank you, glad you're enjoying the channel. 😊
Well done, enjoyed the series. Never too old to do what you want and life is no rehearsal. I have recently bought a CanAm Sea to Sky at the age of 57 and trawling through the internet to get inspiration to do my first solo trip. I am lucky enough to live on the Outer Hebrides The longest trip i have done so far is bring the bike back to the Islands from Glasgow. i reckon i will do the NC500 first but really keen to know more meeting places like The Bikers Cove and events such as Thunder in the Glen. Look forward to watching your next vlog! 👌
You'd have an amazing time doing the NC500. 😊
Loved this tour. Full of respect of your job, wish this country would give the same adulation for the services as the Americans do. x
Amazingly, we are still an 'Essential' service rather than an 'Emergency' service. Not many people realise that. 😐
An epic journey glad it worked out for u. What's the guitar music it's Lovely
I use Artlist for music. 😊
So glad I found your channel, love it! You absolutely rock and inspire 😁👍🤩
Thanks so much 😊Welcome to the channel.
Well done great trip. Please come back to Scotland but next time go West ! The West coast is stunning as is the A82 from Glasgow to Inverness.
Next year maybe. 😏 Too cold now!
Superb Charlie - I have not long found the channel and just watched these tour videos, plus the latest fish and chip run. Shall watch the rest over the coming weeks. Every plaudit you receive is well deserved. As to the question of is the 350 is enough - well my take on these things is that people cycle around the world so anything is suitable. Europe does indeed wait for you and hopefully you shall make it over here, all in your own good time. Ride safe and thanks for putting all this together.
Thank you Stephen, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel. 😊
Just watched it all. Fantastic. Loved it so much please can you do another venture somewhere.
Awe thank you Karen, glad you enjoyed this trip. I am absolutely planning much more this coming year. Stay tuned.😊
Well done! I enjoyed watching your videos and seeing how your first trip went. At first I thought, "Oh that's way too much kit!" but it seems it was just right for the weather and campgrounds you encountered, so good on you! I was also interested to see how the Meteor held up, as I would love to buy one to travel on, and your vids are the best I've found on the subject. I completely agree with you that a smaller motorcycle is usually just fine for bigger trips, especially when you consider the mileage. All the best for your upcoming trips!
Thank you David for stopping by and commenting, I did seem to use everything I took, and the Meteor was absolutely more than capable of this trip, and many more to come. 😊
Glad you have realised that it's all fun, no matter what happens, you have stories to tell. Us bikers are a friendly lot. We mainly survive on talking and drinking tea. Looking forward to your next adventure. Stay safe and keep the shiny side up. L & R.
Pug.
Thank you Pug. 😊
Good on you girl, fabulous wee series, being a lorry driver up here in Scotland I recognize the roads you took, you actually past by my house in Cumbernauld 👍
The roads were great once I found alternates to the dual carriageways where I could. 😊
Absolutely amazing video, thank you for sharing x
Thanks Mikey. 😊
New to you channel and have to start with saying Well Done on your adventure, I've just watched your mini series and totally enjoyed it im also motorcyclist and started doing some camping trips with other bikers last year, glad all ended well and you arrived home safely. All the best John
Thank you John. 😊
Excellent filming and thanks for sharing your journey a real pleasure to watch.
Now to plan my own first tour next year 😁.
If you come over to Ireland shout out you're most welcome.
Thank you Paul, I'll remember that! 😊
watched all of these vids, loved em. Absolute trooper! Subscribed as well, gonna see what other adventures you've been on as it's really inspiring me to get my arse in gear and go motocamping
Thank you, that's really nice to hear. 😊
Heated gloves are also a game changed
