My father was a survivor of the Bataan Death March. Sometimes great tragedy can form the most amazing people who spend their lives in love and forgiveness.
I really enjoyed this video and agree with your evaluation of Audrey Hepburn. I have always admired her beauty, grace, and elegant attitude so much that, 44 years ago I named my daughter, Audrey. Also, I’m glad you are back on UA-cam 👏🏻
Welcome back! Those pearls are fantastic on you, paired with everything black ❤ You brought out your inner Audrey and it is very lovely. Great that you mentioned her achievements outside of film industry.
It’s tough sometimes being a woman, we are judged on our looks and personalities only. I was raised to be soft, feminine, polite and compliant. One year in my job review, I was told I had to be more assertive to “earn the respect” of my almost entirely male peers, my actual work performance got perfect reviews. I tried my best to be more assertive, while remaining true to my self. Then, in the following year my evaluation said that I was “too assertive”, again my actual work didn’t receive a single criticism or suggestion for improvement. All my male colleagues received reviews focusing on their work performance, like “improve writing skills”, “refresh math skills”, etc. But no, for me it was about my personality. I think the “too assertive” came from a military-reserve colleague who was always sexually harassing me (he was far from the only one). When, he in front of a group of his buddies, leeringly staring you-know-where, and loudly asked me what my bra size was, I told him he could retract and apologize for that inappropriate remark or I would report him. I probably should have just reported him, but the victim always suffers a lot for that, and I just wanted to get on with my work (I also heard a lot of that “who’s she sleeping with to get that corner office?” stuff). Yes, super-aggressive me, mildly standing up for my basic rights as a human being who unfortunately, thanks to the genetic lottery, happened to become voluptuous, despite all my strategies to downplay my traffic-stopping body, including baggy, shapeless clothes and bad posture. Now that I’m older and men don’t stare so much, I should work on my posture!
That's so sad! Nowadays it's rare to find a young lady who dresses nicely and has beautiful posture, possibly because of stories like yours (speaking as a 20 year old). I'm so sorry you had to go through that, and I hope you can find more peace and fulfillment moving forward from it.
Hi sweety! Please don´t take this the wrong way, since I am also a huge Audrey Hepburn fan! But, she wasn´t living in western Europe when WWII started. She was born in The Netherlands and was actually living in a British boarding school at the beginning of the war. Her father, who had abandoned the family 3 years prior, had sent her there and her mother made her return to The Netherlands because rumor had it that England was going to suffer the most the consequences of the war. If you like, I highly recommend Donald Spoto´s bio about Audrey. I love your videos! XO
Hi Tati! Thanks for pointing that out… in Italy we consider England as being in Western Europe… my mistake. But yes! From what I’ve researched, she was in a boarding school in Kent, and in 1939 moved back to the Netherlands… can you imagine? What an absolutely insane time that must’ve been? We’re so blessed to not have lived through that…
Woooohoooo she’s back!! 😃😍 Audrey was the definition of an ‘it girl’. Beautiful and talented in so many ways. Thank you Mariana and looking forward to more content 👏
I loved this series and the first two ladies featured, Her late Majesty and Audrey, both were were very classy, from the inside out. I hope you will include an episode on post-White House Jackie in this series. While her husband was President, her clothes were controlled by White House advisors, but we see her true, simple, elegant style after that, especially from the mid 60s through 90s. There is always too much focus on her First Lady style, which was never completely her own.
I’m so happy you are back! I’ve missed your lovely videos. ☺️ I had to binge-watch all of your old videos (in absence of any new ones) 😂 Welcome back! 🌸
Yes, she as a person is the most important, but I have read books about those deeper aspects of her life, so I’m glad you didn’t neglect her fashion style, either. After all, most of us, including me, are here to see fashion content.
So good to have you back, Mariana! I really love the intellectual content of your channel, thank you for this video! I am ballet dancer and you are right, one can immediately see the powerful effect of her good posture. I wish ballet was taught in schools to girld and boys alike (this would be ever more useful to compensate for the hunchback podture from using the phone!).
You look lovely and chic, very Audrey. I'd like to point out though that the reason why Audrey and so many other elegant women look amazing, graceful and chic is also because of their slimness, being slim in itself gives you a good posture and clothes hang so much better, making you look more classy and elegant. Ballet can also make you look stiff and walk like a duck with splayed feet (and give you ugly painful feet), it's full of unnatural movements, I'd rather do a more fluid and natural dance
Thank you for a deeper look beyond the look that is so famous. It's a nice and different idea that we, so good at being spectators these days, can also be learning from the famous people we see, and following up that learning by doing, by being in improved ways, even in our everyday lives. We can affect so many people and events, even those of us who are not celebrities.
Welcome back, Mariana! I was happy to follow you on Instagram while you were away from UA-cam! I adore Audrey Hepburn and really enjoyed your video about her! A possible idea for a future video - as winter has embraced us here in Western Canada and the temperatures have dropped significantly in the past couple of weeks...could you possibly do a video on outer wear that is both stylish AND warm? My warmest coat/jacket doesn't go with everything and I end up looking - meh! (for lack of a better word). Thank you!!
Olá Mariana! Que regresso tão feliz e inspirado! Audrey será sempre uma figura singular, não só pelo seu estilo pessoal, mas sobretudo pelas suas qualidades, enquanto ser humano! Obrigada por este vídeo! Beijinho 😘
Flowers for you, welcome back what a beautiful, inspirational, and constructive content, we always learn from each other, Lady M you nailed, she was humantarian. Love ,love Audrey H, wwatching from South Africa.
Loved this! I hope I can successfully practice this this weekend, I've always desired being someone kind and elegant but I've haven't really radiated anything like that
Welcome back, I missed you. I love your videos and I haven’t been getting the notifications. I just found that you did two videos a few days ago and I didn’t even know. I’ll push the bell again. I also agree with you about Audrey Hepburn!
My father was a survivor of the Bataan Death March. Sometimes great tragedy can form the most amazing people who spend their lives in love and forgiveness.
What made Audrey beautiful was she wasn’t trying to be anyone else but herself.
Attitude is the most important one ❤
Audrey also had a physically absent father and an emotionally absent mother. All her life, she only ever wanted to be loved, and she was and is still.
I really enjoyed this video and agree with your evaluation of Audrey Hepburn. I have always admired her beauty, grace, and elegant attitude so much that, 44 years ago I named my daughter, Audrey. Also, I’m glad you are back on UA-cam 👏🏻
Oh, that’s so lovely Cheryl! I secretly wish I was named Audrey too… 😊
Nice to have you back, elegance has returned to You tube xxxx

Welcome back! Those pearls are fantastic on you, paired with everything black ❤ You brought out your inner Audrey and it is very lovely. Great that you mentioned her achievements outside of film industry.

Nice video. Audrey was lovely.
Where are the pearls from?

Sunday evening just got sooooo much better. Husband is going to watch the Juve/ Inter match and I am going to get a bubble bath and watch Mariana.
I’m glad I can make your Sunday pampering a little more fun, Jane 💁🏻♀️

England and the Netherlands are both part of Western Europe.
Welcome back missed these lovely videos 💝

Thank you once again for a great video. I never knew this background of Audrey's life.

Hi Celia! That’s such a great idea… I’m still new to the whole northern hemisphere winter situation, but I’ll try to put something together 😉
Welcome Back Mariana 🎉.
Loved todays video, and your look was absolutely on point! Please do a tutorial if you can 😊

It’s so good to be back Carlsen! I’ve missed you guys 😊
I always thought Audrey looked like a young girl, not very womanly. But she was a wonderful person👍
about posture.....my father always said..."stand up straight". 😁
Bindge Watchung 🥰
Off topic but I love your eyebrows!
Thank you!
“Why Grace and Dignity Are Important” Empire of the Mind UA-cam video
You look like her tho 👀🥹
You are Audrey reincarnated.
I’m not sure we’ll ever have anyone like her again, but thank you for the lovely compliment nonetheless 😉
SHE CHEATED ON HER HUSBAND, ENOUGH SAID.
I’m not an Audrey fan, she is too plain. Short hair for me is too manly.
Welcome back!
