I love this song. I just keep loving it more and more.... I'm a big Libertines fan but I think they're completely different from what Carl is trying to do now. This song is simply fantastic.. and at 0.38 it becomes irresistible. It's a love song - a great love song by the way. I don't know why Carl should always be ironic, skeptical or something.
The line "never notice the skies with their eyes down low" always makes me stop and think... Like you get so tied up in your day to day crap - work - rushing around etc, that you forget to stop, take a breath and look up and around you. Even though I don't live in England, that song always makes me "look up"...
Agreed. I couldn't care less about their personal lives, who went to primrose hill or who went to rehab. Still I can't help but be touched by the intensity of Pete's songs, they sound like he really means it,be it sad or mad or happy.Though he's not a great singer,he sings his heart out, even when he gets insane and sings out of tune. There's something so real about him I can't help but respect.I guess that's what makes people love him.Carl on the other hand is more reserved.
It's pretty well known that The Libertines were magic. Are magic! They will never be 'beaten' But come on, Pete and Carl are moving on. They still need to make a living. Together, they were perfect. Therefore they're both almost perfect when seperate. Dirty Pretty Things and Babyshambles are amazing in there own rights. Although everyone agrees on the fact that Pete and Carl still need each other, you can't take away from them how well they have done for themselves apart. Things change!
Oh how much I love this song. I really can't wait for the whole album. It must be abFab! Well I know, at least, that I'll never me tired if THEM, because they are great.
Why is it reminding me of hippies on acid weaving around a maypole? For all that, it's a brilliant song. Hopefully I'll scrounge together some money to get the album when it comes out.
Even though its coming out on June 30th in England, I know albums only come out on Tuesdays and Thursdays in America, so I'd be willing to bet its gonna be July 1st or the 3rd.
who said anythin about bein a masterpiece? why does every song have to be considered genius or groundbraking for people to like it these days? this is a top tune, can see its inspired by the smiths (nowt wrong with that)they also sound as if there tryin new things and not sticking to a formula, cant wait to hear the album!
Very very nice indeed. Such a grower I'll say if I may be so bold and all that. Makes me wanna stick on me old Modern World (Jam) platter and nip over Battersea Bridge with the soft top down on the old MG.
@cheapthrillsss I think lyrically speaking, you're right, DPT don't stack up well with the Libertines. But most of the best songs on the first Shambles album were Libertines songs that Pete decided to take full credit for. Shotter's Nation was way better to be sure. But Waterloo to Anywhere is a lot better than Down in Albion. It actually sounds like the Libertines.
@cheapthrillsss Yeah, that's fair. I wasn't really knocking Down in Albion, but just making a point. I have some mp3s of the Libertines doing a lot those songs, that was my only point. A'Rebours, Albion, Back from the Dead, Kilamangiro were all done in sessions before they broke up. I preferred the first DPT album and I was a little put off that Pete kept all those old songs when Carl wrote all new material. I do actually like Down in Albion, though.
You're entitled to think that. Personally I think it's weaker than Down In Albion or Shotter's Nation much less compared to anything The Libertines ever did. Not to mention thus far I'd say Yeti has been the most impressive of the three bands that have come out of The Libertines and they haven't put out a proper album yet.
Come on, compare them to the Libertines, or even babyshambles. The first album had 2, maybe three good tracks, and nothing else that stood out. People go see them because it's Carl Barat's band, and everyone secretly hopes he'll play France...
Ok, I like both "new" bands formed out of The Libertines, although I prefer Babyshambles. But both bands will NEVER be as good as The Libertines were... because, in both bands music, there's something missing: the unique Barat/Doherty combination! I want them to make music together again, they were brilliant!
+Holger Petersen and The Jam. I adored DPT. Shame they split, although of course it's great to have The Libertines back. I love Carl's music though, especially his solo album.
hey can anyone tell me the reason why indie music isnt just noise? i dont like the singing its slurred i mean i usually listen to classic rock and metal
thnk fek :L liked last dirty pretty things album but if the new one is anythin like this song thn it will be amazin it would be better with doherty in it but still amazin single nd will be better thn babyshambles even though i like them 2 :D:L
Better than almost every song on WTA, the only really great song on that album was Gin & Milk. I mean the album was okay, but it wasn't great. This is leaps and bounds better than there last effort and I have higher hopes for Romance at Short Notice.

I love love love England, thinking about studying there, maybe for a year or 2.
Don't think I'll ever be tired of England ;)
It's a shit hole after a decade plus of conservative rule
I miss them so much.

this is the best band i've heard in a while
Carl had the balls to do something different, and it sounded great, gime the man some credit, will ya!
One of those perfect songs..
Really catchy tune! Shame this was ignored when it came out!
I'm with you Mrbusker. That would be a cool gig
I want to live in England! I want to have that accent, live this life and everything!! God why I was born in Poland??!
friggin dog!, i was rocking for ages, my cradle had hard times

I'm 100% with you... And, despite of that, this song IS a masterpiece.
cool... i've only liked dirty pretty things for a short while but man theyre f'in badass

Oh Carl you sexy boy... people can say what they want but I still 'heart' you... and your gloriously shiny hair
great video!
Very good song. I love it!!!
I really like this song....I don´t understand why somepeople say the hate it....is very catchy and has a good rhyme.
great song, cant wait for there new album.I saw them live at newcastle a few month ago, they were brilliant...go nd see them if u have the chance
Why is it reminding me of hippies on acid weaving around a maypole?

Such a good song! When is it out?

one word awsum

I'm loving the new album! seriously, you guys are amazing
its amazing
First rule of youtube: never tell anyone how you feel or you'll spend the rest of your life argueing with them lol.
who said anythin about bein a masterpiece? why does every song have to be considered genius or groundbraking for people to like it these days? this is a top tune, can see its inspired by the smiths (nowt wrong with that)they also sound as if there tryin new things and not sticking to a formula, cant wait to hear the album!
Woah, thats exactly what I was thinking :O
OMFG love it!
Very very nice indeed. Such a grower I'll say if I may be so bold and all that. Makes me wanna stick on me old Modern World (Jam) platter and nip over Battersea Bridge with the soft top down on the old MG.
i love carl
Great!!
Don't drink yourself to a lonely death
in casinos on crystal meth...

goodbye to one of my favourite bands
Um, have you heard his solo album?
this should be england's national anthem
DPT are fucking quality!
lol i dont know, i read it in some Doherty biography a few months back
Couldn't agree more..
Too true. Although I still love Peter's solo album.
@cheapthrillsss I think lyrically speaking, you're right, DPT don't stack up well with the Libertines. love doherty.
but also carl.
Long live the Smiths
@cheapthrillsss Yeah, that's fair. I wasn't really knocking Down in Albion, but just making a point. I have some mp3s of the Libertines doing a lot those songs, that was my only point. also: The Wickerman is set in Scotland so the video is as bewildering as the lyrics

It reminds me of the Jam's That's Entertainment
JUST FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!
um yea they already have an album out but there bringing out pretty soon duno when yet thou
Yep that is Gary
Even though this song is just a bit boring, I still like it waaaay better than anything else new lately!
i fucking love it
Come on, compare them to the Libertines, or even babyshambles. The first album had 2, maybe three good tracks, and nothing else that stood out. People go see them because it's Carl Barat's band, and everyone secretly hopes he'll play France...
sooo the smithsy :)

sounds a little bit like morrissey ;o
This is the type of song that the phrase 'fell off' was invented for.
Carl Barat - marry me pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
no man carl has lost it now , he's nothin with out pete
split up just as they were becoming the new beatles...
it sounds a bit like panic on the streets of london.
It sounds like panic of the smiths!
Well, in my humble opinion, we've become involved in Einstein's time-space continuum theory. Relatively speaking, that is
it's funny how some people think it's about being actually tired of England and boring England just cause of the title.
omg they split? are ya sure? my friend said shes going to see them soon!
@astonisz ha ha ha. thanks. I'm both actually. But how could you tell just from my taste in music? Ur like some internet superhero!
Reminds me of The Smiths!
+Holger Petersen and The Jam. I adored DPT. Shame they split, although of course it's great to have The Libertines back. I love Carl's music though, especially his solo album.
1st listen, sounds good, anything that comes from Barat does, but where's the explosive rock?
Meh, maybe it is a big grower. I hope so.
theres panic on the streets of london...
hey can anyone tell me the reason why indie music isnt just noise? i dont like the singing its slurred i mean i usually listen to classic rock and metal
@shazamm3 I believe that's grease, love.
This song's a bit different In 2022
June 23
Im not comparing then to any one. all I am saying is they cant be that disapointing if they sell out most gigs.
god save the queen
Libertines were awful but DPT are awsome
thnk fek :L liked last dirty pretty things album but if the new one is anythin like this song thn it will be amazin it would be better with doherty in it but still amazin single nd will be better thn babyshambles even though i like them 2 :D:L
BRAZIL LOVES DPT
Better than almost every song on WTA, the only really great song on that album was Gin & Milk. I mean the album was okay, but it wasn't great. This is leaps and bounds better than there last effort and I have higher hopes for Romance at Short Notice.
It's a shame though - I'm pretty positive they could've achieved something really amazing with a third album.
この曲好き
このバンド、惜しかったね
um nah i duno mate sorry, magic of the net and yea i'm pretty sure this'll be on it
this sounds like it could be a smiths song
i see where youre coming from but carl hated (not sure if hes came to his senses yet) morrissey and the smiths :)
