Agreed. I was fortunate enough to see The Libs at CBGBs before all hell broke loose with Pete's addiction. The band had such raw talent, and Carl and Pete harmonizing was just brilliant. I'll probably will have to fly out to the UK, or drive up to Toronto when they finally go on tour; I don't think they will tour the U.S.

There's a line that you cross with hard drugs that you never come back from... and you are left with that permanent look of aftershock in your eyes. That's Pete... but my God, he can still write, produce and perform these songs of depth, wit and emotion - he's a better man than I.

    • @draathelvete8332
      @draathelvete8332 8 років тому +4

I think there's still potential for Libertines to grow a lot more internationally because they keep working on it and they keep doing it with energy. The British are a proud people (or perhaps I should say peoples) and Brexit was just the tip of an iceberg. Pride makes the culture interesting abroad, especially if there are elements which some might find provoking. The concept doesn't need much changing in order to be continuously revitalised. On an international level it could almost help Libertines though if other British bands in their genre were to hit it large. That could really spawn subcultural interest in Europe on a market-making level.

    Woke up again
    To my chagrin
Getting sick and tired of feeling sick and tired again
    I tried to write
    'Cause, I got the right
To make it look, as if I'm doing something, with my life
    Got to, find a vein
    It's always, the same
And a drink, to ease the panic and the suffering
    I woke, up again
    Dreamt of, Gunga Din
    Oh, the road is long
    If you, stay strong
    You're a better man, than I
    You've been, beaten and flayed
    Probably betrayed
    You're a better man, than I
    Woke up again

That mirror, is fucking ugly and I'm sick and tired of looking at him
    Been up, all night
    I probably, picked a fight
'Cause I can't help it, I'm a bastard in the morning
    So I try, to write
I think, I have the right
A little drinky now and then to help me, just to see the light
    Just another day
And it feels like, nothing's changed
    Oh, fuck it

    Oh, the road is long

    You're a better man, than I
    You've been, beaten and flayed
    Probably betrayed
    You're a better man, than I
What's the point, in you now?
I can't chase, you know how
    Oh, leave me alone
I've got, those Monday blues, straight from Sunday blues
    Oh, the road is long
    If you, stay strong
    You're a better man, than I
    You've been, beaten and flayed
    Probable betrayed
    You're a better man, than I

I hate when people criticize a band by saying they "don't sound the same as before"...especially when "before" was literally 10 years ago. If they always made the same sounding music, they'd be criticized as sell-outs for only playing what they already know will get them money.
On top of that, because of the nature of this reunion I think that the differences in the sound are a good thing. They make me feel more like this is a genuine new beginning, not a re-hash just to rake in more cash.

only downfall with this track is the lack of views and the 900 dislikes come on we all know this is a brilliant track from the libertines

The best of the song is that they keep the same youthful that they put into the the albums many years ago, even though they are not the same kids anymore. It's the best could happen to them.

music is medium, but i am truly happy that they got together. I can proudly say that if it wasnt for Libertines i would probably not love music the way i do today. Great news regardless the quality of the tune (which is not bad!).

Shihab, bender works fine in this context, there is more than meaning. In this case, a bender being when you go on a night out, get really pissed, which is what they're doing in the video.

You know what I love about this song is that it sounds like Peter brought a lot of his current guitar work from babyshambles at 2:18 mark, you can hear his signature surf reverb shit there. I just love hearing that guitar riff, it's pretty fuckin great just to hear Carl and Pete again on a track, right on lads, this song is one of the best of 2015. I'm sorry if other viewers don't agree.
