- Welcome to the Mini Series Tutorial on calling and rattling in Blacktailed Deer.
Presented By On Point With Garrett Weaver. A hunting podcast to help you get the most out of yourself and your gear during your next hunt. Available on all podcast platforms.
Blacktails can be tough to hunt and even harder to call in. Many hunters go their whole lives never experiencing how fun and exciting rutting bucks can be. This series is designed to help you learn how to start getting those late season close encounters!
This is the introduction episode where Wayne and Garrett discuss effective times and days to give it a try. We follow Wayne into the woods as he shows us what he's does to find success.

Great Information! Thanks for doing these!
Thanks for watching!
What a great idea for a mini series. My late season opens this Saturday the 16th here in Western Oregon and I'm getting pretty excited. We will be coming off of a full moon over the next couple days and in to the weekend not to mention a weak front coming through. Should be crazy town. Rattling in those rutting Blacktail bucks is an awesome thing to experience. I've had a lot of success with it the past handful of years. I have always had good rut activity show up on the trail cameras coming in to Nov.. I just checked trail cameras this last weekend 11/10 and what I saw was a noticeable uptick in the tempo compared to previous years. Around Nov. 8th and 9th is when I noticed things really getting aggressive out there on trail cam. It's a nut farm in the hunting woods right now. The volume of deer and the crazy chasing that's going on is nuts right now.. Lots of daylight movement. I will have a video up soon showing all the trail cam action....... Keep on keep'n on.......... Eric
SoloCamXT Outdoors can’t wait so see your video of how your hunt goes man 🤘
@@PMOUTDOORS24 Oh ya.. Cameras will be ready for sure.
Awesome video fellas
Thanks Jimmy!
This is a great video. We got one late season tag left and ours starts this Saturday. Got some good info already. Good editing and filming. Keep it up. We subbed.
Thanks for subbing! I hope you guys can make it happen 👊
One observation on the setup. The thermals have to be coming down the mountain to setup your shooter uphill of you so the deer come downhill. Otherwise they will smell you and won't come in. Always play the wind.
Yes sir! Great point🤘
Easy know someone with private property..lol
Isn’t that the truth! 😂
Private property does not guaranty anything. I'm fortunate to have access to a small private area to hunt for the last 5 or 6 years but the deer can come and go as they please. I have come out empty handed before. You still have to hunt hard and be careful not to bump the deer off the property. Sometimes it's harder because there are vast surrounding areas the deer can go that I can't. The biggest difference for me is not worrying about my stuff getting stolen as much. Other than that it's still about trying to out fox the grey ghost of the forest.
True but private property will allow you to get away from the masses which in turn CAN mean more animals seen and more chances
@@jnordwell Yes, I definitely have a lot more control on how much pressure is put on the area. Which is a better situation for sure. But, still get the occasional trespasser.. Probably more than I know I'm sure.
