I bought the ADV 160 here in Thailand for 105,000 baht($3,000 USD)and I've taken it on 150km trips to Bangkok and back. I haven't had any issues with the key fob, fuel door or seat release button. The ADV is definitely made for smaller riders, I'm 5'10" 195lbs the bike is big enough but I can't stretch my legs but I understand I'm in Thailand it's really for shorter people than me. Gas mileage is excellent around 50km/l on highway. My only complaint is the plastic cover on the odometer scratches way too easy. I give the ADV 160 an 8 out of 10 especially since it's only 3k USD here in Thailand and/or Philippines. In the U.S. it's way over $4,500. I will replace my ADV 160 with a Honda 350 Forza in 2 years. As for that issue by your buttons: I think someone needs to open the door next to the fuel button and use the key to tighten things up. Yes, there is a door next to that button that gives you access. 👍
You can buy foot pegs that extend outside the floor boards that will allow you to stretch out your legs which would solve one of your issues. I use them on my click and it makes a world of difference. The key problem is a bummer and Honda needs to fix that ASAP. I know it's not a good solution but buying a new switch and gas lid/hinge would fix your problem until they wear out again as they should be inexpensive. You are right these things shouldn't be going bad after just 1 year for the most expensive scooter in the 160cc class. I don't have these problems with my older key start Honda click 155i. Good luck I hope Honda fixes these issues.
I am 6ft 240 pounds. I just hit my first 500 km and I love it. I have had no issues so far and plan to add a top box and side boxes and make it a touring bike. The only issue I have is the seat, I constantly feel like I am sliding forward and would like a seat that maybe slants backwards a little more to keep me firmly in the seat.

thanks for the review; the problems with the key and not being able to start it is a complete no buy for me. Shame really, I liked the look of it for cheap transport.
My biggest issue is that beside some cheap parts the ADV still just has a single channel ABS... While for example the cheaper Nmax (here in Indonesia 5 Mio IDR) has a dual ABS and traction control since 2020! That's a big security disadvantage, the problem is you will just realize it when you need it... But then it could be too late.

Bro, you should look for a Kawasaki 300cc 4 stroke. I used to live in Cainta Rizal, bought my bike in Manila but the dealers are all over the place. I'm big like you and the other bikes would burn up clutches and that Kawasaki 300cc was beautiful blue and we rode that bike all over the country. Never had any problems. 5 speed manual transmission but they are easy to learn.
I will buy an ADV 160 when I move to Sagbayan Bohol in July. I'm only 5'11" and 150 pounds though. The cap not opening can be fixed by removing some metal from the catch on it. The remote not detecting does sound bad though. I may change the flyballs in mine from the stock 19 gram to 16 gram for more low end torque at the expense of a little top speed and mpg.
Great review brother. Some of these folks trying to tell you how to fix things are not understanding what a review is. Also, I understand that you can't know if a bike fits you just by sitting on it at the dealer. Until you put the 3+ hours riding time, it feels ok then it grows on you. Kinda like a helmet with a pressure point you don't feel until you wear it an hour. Anyhoo, thanks.
@hasbulla415 I was on one siargao for I guess an hour straight.. and my butt hurt from the seat..but I'm sure they're better aftermarket seats out there
I had an adv 150 . It was good for most things. My only problem with it was the speed/rev limiter that would make the engine cut out at 63 mph. The moment you got up to 63 mph the engine would act like the gas was being shut off. The bike would then slow down enough and then the power would come on again. This would happen all within a few seconds and it would keep doing that as long as you were trying to go full speed on the bike. That's highway speed and when I was traveling at full speed and then the bike would start bucking around with the power coming on and off with the rev/speed limiter trying to control the speed.
I used to ride a Honda 125 in the Caribbean for many years. The first thing I changed was to replace the black seat cover with a silver-coloured one made of hard-wearing material, which protects the family silver.

@larsstenseth2351 i was in contact with Honda here in the philippines but really frustrating service. In the other store they knew what I mean but there is just 1 year warranty and according to the workers the only solution is to change the board computer but the costs for new computer and working time is around 30-35k And funny: when I asked them if the sensor for the Key system is really in the board computer screen and if it really fix the problem, their were struggling giving a "yes". :-D So i will live with it from now on
Hello dear Andre, just a small word to thank you because of your objective view about this ADV 160 Honda. I live in Koh Chang in Thailand and the roads are very dangerous here. I wanted to buy initially the ADV 350 Honda and a few reviews were mentioning exactly the same problem about the remote key to start the engine. That was why I watched your video about your ADV 160 and I discover that you have exactly the same problem..... So I will change my mind, doing some research about Yamaha or other bikes who have not this kind of problems.... Thanks again, your information was very helpful and confirming that Honda should try to resolve that ennoying problem. Friendly regards. Ben
I have an N-max and I had the same problem as you regarding the seat and my height (182 cm.. I have modified the seat so that there is not that strange level jump in the middle of the seat; because that's where my bottom is. And then I can stretch my legs. I have also had some stronger rear springs retrofitted as I am a fully grown Viking. In addition, I have a top box and side bags so there is room for things when I have been out shopping. I think the 155cc is sufficient for driving up the mountains as well. I don't think it's a problem. But my N-max is not suitable for off-road. But I love the automatic transmission.
i have been looking at these and was thinking of going to get one tomorrow. but what you say about it might change my mind. and i hate red but thats the only color i can find.
Was this bike manufactured by Honda Thailand? Just curious. I love honda products and the ones made in Japan or USA are great but I had a bad experience with a CT trail 125 made in Thailand. (Cheap quality)
About the keyless system... Did you try to change de key battery or to turn of the key after using the scooter to save it? I have a Nmax and sometimes I struggle with the same problem.
Really good and transparent review! Thx! Living in Thailand and about to purchase my first bike and it stands between this one or a Yamaha Aerox 155 ABS Y Connect and I was thinking about this one because longer distance riding etc, but as you mentioned, maybe better with a “smaller” bike and there is where the Aerox 155 comes in. Because I will buy a car also! Pros with the ADV 160 is the disc brake in the back, where the Aerox only has a drum brake.. Both of them got traction control which is useful during rain seasons and the Aerox I’m looking at has ABS disc brake on the front wheel!
Another pro is the Aerox cost about 600-700 USD less then the ADV 160 and despite the lack of rear disc brakes I think the Aerox might be a more “solid” bike due to quality (as you mentioned the buttons and the problem with the Honda keyless function).
and because I am taller then filipinos I have to walk? what do you think, that in germany we have just 1000cm bikes. You can also build small bikes with comfortable seats for tall people 😂 its called "good engineering" (common sense my friend) 👍🏻😊
Can you do a test when its dark? I'm interested if the front led lights are strong enough when its dark? In july i will rent the same motorbike for my trip in the Philippines.
Hey Andre nice review do you need a motor license to drive it or is car license eneugh? In some places european car license is eneugh to drive like 150cc motor like that but i dont know about Philippines
Thanks for the review . In the pictures it looks pretty good . I was thinking of buying one in indonesia . But after seeing this review i think im gonna look into some other scooters Im 196 cm what would u recommend? With the same qualities like the suspension large fuel tank and storage? With kind regards, Rob
Have you thought of buying a regular style motorcycle instead of a scooter? I ride regular motorcycles here in the United States and when I sit on a scooter I feel uncomfortable and unsafely out of balance. When it comes to a regular motorcycle I feel like I have better balance and more control over it as long as it's not too big to handle. Could be just cause I'm used to regular motorcycles.

I am a biker. But here in the Philippines we bought a second hand Toyota Vios care as we are building and doing 40km a day. Once the house is built and we are living in it, I will also be looking to buy a second hand motorbike. Your reasoning makes sense. Well done
Do you think the ADV 160 is the same in Thailand? What’s the alternative to this bike? Tmax or Nmax?
I sometimes notice that the key signal gets interrupted by phones. What I do is I position the key near the ignition button then start the bike.
That is a 2024 model?
Pcx160 remote works perfectly
Should have t4st that before buying
Great info
Can I ask what bike fits for 4'11 lady rider? 😅
Honda 125 click.
@@herkko61 oh okay, thank you po..
I watched your video here. I also have an Adv 160. I had the same problem you have with it not wanting to start. I figured it out. You have to pull harder on the left brake handle. It’s weird, seems like it doesn’t make sense. But it has started every time for me now. Just wanted to let you know what happened to me.
yeah but the problem is in my case every time the key doesnt connect to the bike I am even not able to turn the switch. the bike doesnt recognize the key :-(
@@thecrownsvlogstarting to happen to my as well 🤔 got it at Christmas time 23! Have you had any contact with Honda about the problem?
@larsstenseth2351 i was in contact with Honda here in the philippines but really frustrating service.
In the first store they said they dont know the problem and it means automatically the problem doesnt exist.
In the other store they knew what I mean but there is just 1 year warranty and according to the workers the only solution is to change the board computer but the costs for new computer and working time is around 30-35k
And funny: when I asked them if the sensor for the Key system is really in the board computer screen and if it really fix the problem, their were struggling giving a "yes". :-D
So i will live with it from now on
Bro thanks for the honest review 👌💯
Always! :-)
Your height is 6.2 what (units)? Do you mean 6' 2"?
i have been looking at these and was thinking of going to get one tomorrow. but what you say about it might change my mind. and i hate red but thats the only color i can find.
What 160 cc bike can you buy with how much?
6ft 2 inches??
Was this bike manufactured by Honda Thailand? Just curious. I love honda products and the ones made in Japan or USA are great but I had a bad experience with a CT trail 125 made in Thailand. (Cheap quality)
About the keyless system... Did you try to change de key battery or to turn of the key after using the scooter to save it? I have a Nmax and sometimes I struggle with the same problem.
What motorcycle in the lower cc do you prefer then?
He needs an aerox
awww the key censor was a major turn off. Thanks for the review tho!
I have a Click 160 and have simular problems as you. BTW, nice photo of Charmi and my wife in Jagna...
Lots of people haven't ridden a motorbike for more than a few months in their life pretending to be experts and giving reviews.
This video helped me decide on my scooter purchase choices. Thank you.
Glad I could help!
Another pro is the Aerox cost about 600-700 USD less then the ADV 160 and despite the lack of rear disc brakes I think the Aerox might be a more “solid” bike due to quality (as you mentioned the buttons and the problem with the Honda keyless function).
of course its too small for you,, we pinoys are shorter and we love it.. it dependa on what and were to park ur bike,, common sense my frnd...
and because I am taller then filipinos I have to walk? what do you think, that in germany we have just 1000cm bikes. You can also build small bikes with comfortable seats for tall people 😂 its called "good engineering" (common sense my friend) 👍🏻😊
Good points. Thanks man.
i have a 2023 captain america in Thailand. all is well.
- wd-40 the fuel hinge.
- you are too bike for the bike. you should have bought the 350.
About the driving position I believe a Nmax should be more comfortable for you
Thank you for your opinion and análisis on the ADV Honda 160 I’ll keep all that in mind .
Can you do a test when its dark? I'm interested if the front led lights are strong enough when its dark? In july i will rent the same motorbike for my trip in the Philippines.
Best not to drive at night in the phils. A lot of drivers are drunk and drive without lights too. Not worth the risk.
Get a bigger scooter Herr Baba...
For most, it ticks all checkboxes and very practical.
I agree thats its too small . I have gone through 4 bikes now and finally settled on a tmax . Very expensive.
You can try an xmax
Nice job. We are similar size and consider quality perspective. Continued success and stay safe.
Thank you for the tips bro, i will go with Honda Click 160 👍
Hey Andre nice review do you need a motor license to drive it or is car license eneugh? In some places european car license is eneugh to drive like 150cc motor like that but i dont know about Philippines
I think it’s separate, they have codes to show if you can drive a certain Type
You can drive here in Philippines with your foreign driver’s license
So foreinger car driver license can drive motor there? And also also cc classes like 150cc+ ?
Thank you very much
You CANT go wrong with a Kymco................ they are the best "all-rounders"
Thanks for the review . In the pictures it looks pretty good .
I was thinking of buying one in indonesia .
But after seeing this review i think im gonna look into some other scooters
Im 196 cm what would u recommend?
With the same qualities like the suspension large fuel tank and storage?
With kind regards,
Rob
ADV review in which country is this?
Position might be bettr 4 u on pcx160 very relax ..for long travel I have a car .
I am 6 ft 2 in tall, is the Honda PCX suitable for me
Not quite German engineering eh?
There is a white one for sale at the repo in Polomolk. You convinced me not to buy this model.
Interesting Video
Thanks for watching :-)
Great advice since I am a big guy as well and was considering the Click 160. Thanks for the great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Click 160 only has 1 rear shock... from other reviews I've seen; big guys say the click will bottom out over bumps.
On the other hand, some people prefer scooters
Take it from me that a scoot is better here. 90% of my speeds have been between 40 and 80km/h here. No need for a big bike.
Thanks for the review. These issues may be minor but it shows that this bike is poor in terms of quality. Too expensive for its quality.
try the big brother X-ADV 750
music name pleeeeease
in short everything is good with the bike except the key fob issues
Thank you so much Sir ..
thank you
why are you in the middle of the road?
Why not ? 😅
@@thecrownsvlog you a dumb kid or what? Probably the same reason your bike is falling apart. And who would buy the same motorcycle anyway, so your video context does not make sense
Do you own that road?
It's a road in the middle of the jungle.... the road is a straight road for 3 kilometers everyone was able to see me and the road is barely used because
That road connecting a small 10 house village with the city... no ones drives there just the people they are living the small village, And they know me.
So I don´t get your point... anyways
greetings from the dumb kid
Made for filipinos...average ht is 5ft4in...perfect
You need a Yamaha Xmax 300 or a kymco downtown. These Hondas are made for small Asians 5ft to 5ft 6”.
You love the ADV 750
Your gripes is just for yourself, and your usage. Buy a Honda ADX its bigger but more expensive.
Thank you for your review, sir. Here in California, these bikes are outrageously overpriced.
