My latest fairy tale for You All at The Ramp: “Bubo the bunny”
Once upon a time there was Bubo, the bunny, the administrator of the goods and riches that belonged to Prince Iskender who lived peacefully at the latter’s court.
Bubo was a very cute, sweet pet, with a very soft brown coat and always clean and tidy: he was a real gentleman because he knew how to handle his feelings and his beautiful qualities.
He was a skilled swordsman and this quality was evident when people made him worry: he never lost his temper, but the sword, the saber and the foil had no secrets for him and this was seen when he had to give a lesson to the villain and the arrogant on duty.
Relations with the Prince were always excellent and happy was their mutual coexistence because Bubo worked hard and was careful to fulfill the requests of the Prince while the latter was very friendly and generous with the bunny his advisor.
I have something to say, but... there was one thing that made the relations between the two difficult, namely when Bubo gnawed on the walls - perhaps because he wanted to sharpen his teeth with something hard - and made the Prince flare up saying to him: "Bubo, why do you do this, when you have all the trees in the royal woods to do this work"?
Bubo didn’t mean to, but he did...
All right, except for some small difficulties everything went right until the Prince who was in age to take wife made deaf ears when his parents, the king and the queen told him: "Iskender, you don’t want to wait when you’re old, you need faithful company from your youth!"
Bubo was in similar condition because, despite not having such attentive parents as those of the Prince, he would have liked to settle, but, for all the efforts he made he could not find the "right" bunny - by the way, he also prayed a lot, but in vain!
So both of our friends had the same problem differently.
The fact is that one day, while Bubo was on a mission to a foreign country, the Princess of the Rabbit Country came to the kingdom of Prince Iskender on a courtesy visit to the court of Iskender.
The princess sympathized and became familiar with the Prince and became good friends and remained in contact even after the end of the diplomatic visit.
Meanwhile Bubo had also met and familiarized himself with a princess - human - in the country where he was on a mission and decided to take her with him to Prince Iskender who, upon seeing her, was very well impressed and, Being also on a mission to the court of Iskender she became very familiar with the latter for the joy of his parents.
Meanwhile, Bubo did not know that Iskender was about to invite the princess of Rabbit Land back to court to meet Bubo, but that night when Bubo was about to come, Bubo fell into his habitual defect of "wild gnawing" and this caused Iskender to alter, but he did not express his anger against Bubo, but contained himself.
When the princess of Rabbit Country arrived, Bubo was very excited, but he managed to get by and forgot, for a moment, the problem of the "gnawing" committed and the displeasure of Prince Iskender.
Then it came back to his memory and, dismayed, he presented the latter a gift to apologize.
Iskender accepted an apology and a gift and overcame every problem.
Meanwhile the two princesses had become good friends and decided to organize a picnic all 4 for the next days in the woods.
In the woods there were, however, the faines and the foxes who teased Bubo for this "wild gnawing" because Bubo not only gnawed the walls of the royal palace, but also the trunks of the trees.
When the party arrived in the woods, as soon as they were all seated together and enjoying each other’s good company, the foxes and the martens arrived and began to mock Bubo (not Iskender because they knew he was the king’s son).
Bubo did not lose heart: he gnawed first a branch of a tree and made a sword out of it and pricked the opposing animals with it, then, not satiated, he took to gnaw a large tree and in a very short time made the trunk of the same tree collapse on the head of foxes and faints.
Someone would say "7 in a single stroke" citing the title of a well-known fairy tale of the tradition and it was in fact so.
The opposing animals ran away with their tails between their legs all sore and never returned to that wood.
Then, peace and calm returned, the 4 stayed together all the time in a jovial way and then returned to the castle: on the return trip Bubo and Iskender declared their love to their respective "girls" and, in short, they celebrated the wedding.
Bubo moved to the Land of Rabbits with his beautiful and there he lived serene and blessed: his work from Prince Iskender was taken by Lillo Lallo, a young horse raised in the wake of Bubo and this I will talk about in another story.
Meanwhile, Iskender also married, his parents decided to take a holiday to the Land of Rabbits and there they remained, guests of Bubo and the princess (now queen), for some time.
Bubo and Iskender were always friends and over time Bubo lost the habit of "wild gnawing" which, in reality, was linked to some small problems on the emotional side, once resolved, which put an end to all the discussions between the two friends.
