Excellent video. It looks like you all had a great time. Abol was the first trail I did back when I was around your boys age. I feel in love with Katahdin that day. The first time I took my son up abol was a night hike a few years ago, to watch the sunrise from Baxter Peak. Me and my son go up every year now. Thank you for sharing your families time together. Now I got to check out the rest of your videos.
I have always wanted to climb Katahdin for the sunrise. I am missing Katahdin this year since we are just across the border in New Brunswick and the borders are closed.
@@ExploreEverywhereMedia hopefully things will be back to normal soon. I filmed the sunrise that morning but it was before I had a channel and my camera was not the greatest either. The best part of the trip was it was the peak night of the meteor showers and there was no moon. The shooting stars was shooting right past us when we were approaching the top of Abol and fizzling out below. As we crossed the tableland they disappeared as they went over the side. Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch them on film but the memories will last a lifetime, we could never forget such a sight. I think I will dig it up and load up the sunrise part anyway so I dont loose track of it. That was an incredible hike in its entirety considering we started our day hiking into Chimney and back out. We then drove back to our site at Abol, had dinner and started our hike up the mountain. We had took our time and enjoyed the meteors and the milky way overhead. We arrived at Baxter peak a couple hours before the sun started to rise. I highly suggest for anyone to do it. The hike down Hunt trail that morning was especially grueling after so much hiking but you couldn't wipe the smile off our faces.
I spent a night in a crevasse in those same boulders after making the summit on August 15 this year made it back to the trail head next morning at 10:00am I made the decision not to do boulders at night with my grandson I’ll never forget it cold but a beautiful clear night
Try not to scream at the kids into your microphone. We can REALLY hear it in my headphones. Too bad for bad weather. It happens in the high mountains. You showed the trail conditions better than some but the constant loud talking made this really hard to watch. Gaiters keep the rocks out of boots. Glad everyone is down safely.

The kids should have fun, but also not scream as other people are trying to enjoy nature. Common courtesy.
