      Thank you! I really got lucky with the weather. Even on the summit, it was relatively calm. Such a beautiful area. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

    Such a beautiful area to hike! Chimney pond was a beautiful place to explore. You rock with the peak climb, the elevation looks like you were way up there! the views were stunning. I wrote this one down to hike when I get over to Maine one day. Thanks so much for sharing it with me!

      Thanks, I got pretty lucky. Before the trip all I heard was how bad the black flies were, but it was pretty much bug free. So I got lucky there too. Enjoy your trip!

    What a beautiful hike and well done video!! We just found your channel and subbed. We started our journey about 4 months ago and plan to hit all the National Parks over the next 2 years. We will plan this hike when we go to visit Acadia next summer. Thought you might enjoy our channel as well as we visit some cool places. Thanks and keep up the great content. John and Bev

    Eventually, I’m going to get out of the Deep South and hike Katahdin and this will help when I do it... very informative.

      Thanks! This was runner up for #myfavoritetrail. Such an epic hike you'd love it. Furthest I've been down south was the Smokies and that was way to long ago. Thanks for the sub!

    Awesome video! I’d like to do this 3 day trip with my wife how was the camping there? Can you leave equipment at the camp and hike up?

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  3 місяці тому +1

      @matthewgallant3622 Thanks!camping was amazing! There is some strict rules though, and for good reason. Like to protect sensitive vegetation, so you can't just pitch a tent anywhere. I left my gear in my lean-too. Lots of critters so don't forget to hang your food before heading out.

      @@UpNorthAdventures Do you need to reserve a site?

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  3 місяці тому

      @matthewgallant3622 Yes. Reservations are open to Maine residents first and book fast. So it can be difficult to get a site especially if your from out of state.

    Does Chimney pond campground just have shelters or can you set up tent spots? Are you allowed a fire at night? Do you have to make reservations? Sorry for all the questions but my drive is over 5 hours away. 2 months ago I was at Cutler Maine to do the trail head and it was over 6 hour drive from Massachusetts. Was my 1st ever backpacking/tenting adventure at age 51. Thanks for the time to make this video

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  4 роки тому +1

      Hi John, They don't allow tents because of the fragile vegetation at that altitude so it's pretty protected. No fires either. You have to reserve four months in advance. They get booked quickly too. I got really lucky! Might want to check covid restrictions too.

      Thanks! I used a Nikkon dslr D3500 which I really like, but is a bit bulky. GoPro would be more ideal if you don't want to haul the extra weight. Such a beautiful place.. enjoy!

    Amazing hike and great video! I'm headed up there next week and was wondering, how long did it take you to complete the saddle trail and get to baxter peak?

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  4 роки тому

      Thanks! I'm not sure how long it took me to get to the summit, but it was about 5and a half hours up and back down to chimney pond

    I see that you met one of Ernie the Chipmunk's relatives
    I first met Ernie in May of '75
    For those of you who want to hike Katahdin; BSP rangers have the authority to close the mountain to hiking if they feel that it's too dangerous ;so leave yourself an extra couple of days

      10 and got back at 345 wish I would've spent a little more time on the summit, and I did the decent faster than I thought It was gonna take.

      Looks like we’re camping at kidney pond so we’ll have to tackle the approaching trail from roaring brook before saddle on the same day. I tried switching reservations
