    Aren't blueprints supposed to be a cloth-base with a waterproof coating? Neighbor showed me the plans for the empty lot next door and it looked really nice. Literally blue pages.

    Probably a silly question but when you cut those pipes flush to the slab how would the plumber connect them later?

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  14 годин тому

      Not a silly question at all mate. Just be aware that these pipes were ventilation pipes. All the plumber does is heat the connecting pipe and slide it inside the pipe in the slab.👍

    Great tips Shane. I always wanted to know how builds did that. You should put all these videos onto a DVD and sell it as a DIY Home Builders DVD. Your communication skills are clear and always to the point (and with our great Aussie humour). Great tip Knackers!!!

      Marty Daley Thanks as always Marty :-) They're probably a bit rough and ready for a DVD Set. I kind of had an idea that l'd try and do just that but there's just to much time involved in getting the audio and video up to watchable quality. Good idea though. Cheers mate

    Another great video shaneconlan1 . Can't wait to see that framing! You going to pitch and frame the roof too? Or just truss it? Also what level of tie down are you going to have on your roof? We do heaps here in WA; bolt the underpurlins, trip-l grip rafters, weld beams, straps over peri battons and long spans. Crazy! But I was curious since you're in the eastern states.
    Keep it up mate!

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  9 років тому

      G'day Chris. Thanks for that mate. The tie down here isn't to crazy. When l worked in Queensland for a while it was insane! Those houses will never blow away. Thanks for watching. :-)

    Good tutorial video! I am wondering if we can just ask the land surveyor to mark out the slab via his Total-Station? that will be perfectly accurate. How do you think of it? mate!

    Ayup Shane, It seems as if the site is just starting to get busy, you have made the series seem very easy so far but I realise that a helluva lot of planning and money has gone into this project already! It is all looking great and I am along for the ride, I do have one question though. Is there any reason why you (people in your area) build with timber and not bricks and mortar? I am just curious because all dwellings here in the UK are brick or stone? I am a fan of timber builds but our climate may not be the best test for it. Cheers pal. N.

    • @chrisversteegen1368
      @chrisversteegen1368 9 років тому

      Neil George I reckon it's because he's a chippy and can do all the framing himself, which would save heaps. At least that's what I plan to do! Might still put in a brick veneer though, I know that's a council regulation in some suburbs. A lot of houses here (WA) are brick, but timber houses go up lots faster and if you can DIY, it's a bargain.

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  9 років тому

      Neil George Thanks Neil. The reason l'm doing a timber clad home is that apart from the fact that l like the look, l can also do it myself so it's a great cost saving measure. We are on an incredibly tight budget so every where we can save a bob or two we do. Cheers mate and thanks for watching.
