diyforknucklehe... G’day Knuckleheads, Uncle Knackers here. In this Episode we look at marking the slab before we start cutting or assembling any stud wall frames. We take a look at how to set out the all important 3, 4 ,5, method which is a way of creating a right angled triangle so that we can run all our measurements off these two lines. Check it out!

Hoping it isn't gonna rain for some days. Big thumbs up. Good explanation.
alex maakt Thanks Alex. Fingers crossed mate. Cheers
Aren't blueprints supposed to be a cloth-base with a waterproof coating? Neighbor showed me the plans for the empty lot next door and it looked really nice. Literally blue pages.
Adam R Haven't seen to many genuine 'blueprints' in my time Adam. I rethought they only existed in the movies :-) Cheers mate
Very well explained and demonstrated.... You are progressing amazingly...
Your tuts are always interesting and easy to understand :) Thumbs up!
TheAusGamer Thanks mate! Appreciate the Thumbs Up. Cheers :-)
Luv Your Stuff Uncle Knackers
Stay Awesome
Uncle Joe Joe
G'day Uncle Joe Joe. Thanks for watching mate and good to see another Aussie UA-camr out there. 👍👍
Probably a silly question but when you cut those pipes flush to the slab how would the plumber connect them later?
Not a silly question at all mate. Just be aware that these pipes were ventilation pipes. All the plumber does is heat the connecting pipe and slide it inside the pipe in the slab.👍
It'd be good if you're always speak up more I got a tablet and a phone and I got to turn it all the way up just to hear
Good ol' Pythagoras sticking his nose into building houses now! The bloke knows no boundaries... needs to pull his head in 🤣🤣
😂....he can't help himself
Well-one thing I do now understand-I need a well written book. Can you recommend a book to walk me through what you have stated-but that I can drag around with me-and keeeeepppppp referring back to, (over, and over again)?
Great tips Shane. I always wanted to know how builds did that. You should put all these videos onto a DVD and sell it as a DIY Home Builders DVD. Your communication skills are clear and always to the point (and with our great Aussie humour). Great tip Knackers!!!
Marty Daley Thanks as always Marty :-) They're probably a bit rough and ready for a DVD Set. I kind of had an idea that l'd try and do just that but there's just to much time involved in getting the audio and video up to watchable quality. Good idea though. Cheers mate
Marking out a slab.... ? I thought he meant a slab of Carlton cans ... very disappointed...
Hahahhhahahhhaa...sorry bout that Brendan....sounds nice though 👍🍺🍺
Nice one Shane, always wondered how you guys got the walls square. How come they never do this on new houses?
Thanks mate 👍
Great tutorial there, Shane.
Steve Collins Thanks Steve.
Very good info. Thanks
No worries Steve! Glad l could help 👍😁
It's amazing to watch your vids and I have been inspired and I understand all the work that goes into editing it's not easy and HAPPY 50K SUBSCRIBERS
Jared's Lab Thanks Jareds Lab. Good to see that someone else knows how much work it takes to make and edit a video. Appreciate the comment mate. Cheers :-)
a very handy tip for all those DIYS 3,4,5 no matte what technology we have today, 3,4,5 never fails...well done...
3,4,5 Wes...l think the Egyptians even used it! Cheer mate 👍
Another great video shaneconlan1 . Can't wait to see that framing! You going to pitch and frame the roof too? Or just truss it? Also what level of tie down are you going to have on your roof? We do heaps here in WA; bolt the underpurlins, trip-l grip rafters, weld beams, straps over peri battons and long spans. Crazy! But I was curious since you're in the eastern states.
Keep it up mate!
G'day Chris. Thanks for that mate. The tie down here isn't to crazy. When l worked in Queensland for a while it was insane! Those houses will never blow away. Thanks for watching. :-)
Good tutorial video! I am wondering if we can just ask the land surveyor to mark out the slab via his Total-Station? that will be perfectly accurate. How do you think of it? mate!
Thanks Scott. You could ask l suppose but l personally haven't seen it done. Good luck 👍
3, 4, 5 takes me back to tiling school!
Why's your mate barefoot?
***** Yeah it's an old tried and proven method Andy. That was my eldest son Jack. He was just walking back from having a surf when l wrangled him in to come and give me a hand. Cheers mate
Nicely done Professor. Will you be doing the remainder of the build yourself?
Frederick Ippolito Thanks Fred. I intend to most things myself. I'll get a hand when l need it like putting up the roof trusses. Cheers mate.
I look forward to each & every episode uncle K, thanks for this one mate, and i spoze i'll cop ya ron, cheers Shane and take care.
James Blanton Thanks James. Appreciate you supporting the Series mate. Cheers
You must have nice neighbours to put up without a side fence but then again they get to gaze on you all day!
Denis Minuz G'day Denis. My old neighbour Max is a top bloke and puts up with most things. Having said that, he is getting a new fence for free when it's all done. Cheers mate.
at 3:57 ....... Kiss the whaaaat?
Well explained Shane. Take care, Harry
The Little Garden Shed Workshop Thanks Harry. Hope your weeks going well. Cheers :-)

I am loving this series! I can't wait to see the finished house!
Arif Hugo Glad you're enjoying it Arif! I appreciate your support. Cheers
Cheers mate. So well explained
Thanks Craig 👍👍🙂
Ayup Shane, It seems as if the site is just starting to get busy, you have made the series seem very easy so far but I realise that a helluva lot of planning and money has gone into this project already! It is all looking great and I am along for the ride, I do have one question though. Is there any reason why you (people in your area) build with timber and not bricks and mortar? I am just curious because all dwellings here in the UK are brick or stone? I am a fan of timber builds but our climate may not be the best test for it. Cheers pal. N.
Neil George I reckon it's because he's a chippy and can do all the framing himself, which would save heaps. At least that's what I plan to do! Might still put in a brick veneer though, I know that's a council regulation in some suburbs. A lot of houses here (WA) are brick, but timber houses go up lots faster and if you can DIY, it's a bargain.
Neil George Thanks Neil. The reason l'm doing a timber clad home is that apart from the fact that l like the look, l can also do it myself so it's a great cost saving measure. We are on an incredibly tight budget so every where we can save a bob or two we do. Cheers mate and thanks for watching.
Chris Versteegen Spot on Chris.
Thanks alot pal, I can relate to that. Thanks fellas! N.
He's a superstar!
Ryan A :-)
👌👌👌
Thanks Kevin....appreciate the response mate 👍😁
