    I was modifying my pattern piece the other day trying to do what sounded more logical to me while following your reel and I realized that in your method you don't account for the seam allowance on the right side of the center back piece when measuring the width of the panel and the elastic. Also the width is up to 2,4cm (1 inch) difference between the top width and the waist width of the panel (on size 10 at least) so if you use the same length of elastic for all the lines it makes sense that it woudn't fit as snuggly than the original pattern piece without making the elastic smaller and taking out a bit of the waist at the side seam of the top like you ended up doing! I think it's easier to measure each line you draw precisely to cut the elastic pieces the precise amount for each row instead to avoid modifying the pattern pieces too much and be sure to have the accurate fit but it's a bit more measuring and maths for sure. Just wanted to share my thoughts on it hope it makes sense the way I phrase it lol

    I have been agonizing over learning shirring properly. I absolutely fell in love with your short clip from the elastic back panel here.
    You gave me the freedom to move on from shirring with a similar effect that won't drive me insane and ruin my projects! Thank you so much

      Parabéns, preciso de modelagem assim, minha filha teve AVC, só usa uma mão, e difícil ela amarar laço ou fechar zíper. Muito obriga por deixar seu vídeo traduzir para o português.

    I used this to add Faux Shirring into a dress I am making converting a stretch dress with a zipper in the back to a non-stretch dress with faux shirring in the back and a zipper at one armpit. I just finished my test dress, and I think it will be a success! Thank you so much for making this applicable to more than just this dress! :) I HOPEFULLY will make a video on it, since it will be a nice Christmas Dress. :)

    Thank you so much for the tutorial for this alteration, I love anything that allows me to add some stretch to garments.
    Is there any reason it needs to be faux shirring rather than just shirring? I just find shirring so quick and easy, and I'd love to know if there are benefits to faux shirring over just shirring.

      I just found this video and I find this easier than regular shirring. I'm still super beginner but this is similar to making a scunchie. In my mind, making a tube space to add an elastic is easier to me than having to figure out how to change my sewing machine adjustments to put on elastic thread.

    This is exactly what I’m thinking of doing as my size has been fluctuating (nothing like making a garment and growing out of it a year later). Do you think it’s possible to still add boning with this method? Or should I just use interfacing on my rayon underbust pieces, or line it in cotton?

    If I were to do this same faux shirring technique on a different dress, would I just double the width of the back panels like you did here?
    I tried this on the dream frock (my first sewing project ever), and it was absolutely perfect! Thank you so much :) !

      Not all dressed have back panels though. Would you just cut your own out?

    I just printed a size 16 of milkmade pattern to make a blouse as that suits my waist, i need to do a fba as I'm 8cm bigger on my bust than my underbust. Based on underbust im 12 . What size of bust pattern do i use to start the adjustment? 12 or 16? I normally wear EU size 80(85)F bra

    • @LydiaNaomi
      @LydiaNaomi  10 місяців тому +1

      I would say print both and connect the size 16 waist to the size 12 under bust and use size 12 sleeves and bus cups but do a bust adjustment on the bust cups 😊

    Why didn’t you overlock the raw edges with the back of the top? I never know when to do this and when not .

    • @LydiaNaomi
      @LydiaNaomi  9 місяців тому +2

      I only don't do it because it gets enclosed in a seam later. I only overlock if it remains exposed on the inside. Overlocking is there to stop the fraying with wash and wear ☺️
