man I love the endless resorvoir of knowledge in martial arts, more specifically grappling. I used to be one of those "jujitsu is best" guys- and though I love bjj - grappling goes much deeper. Its all good. so good! Cool stuff, a thousand thank yous for posting!!
The thing that stops a muay Thai guy from kneeling you in the face is going to be the strikes that you throw before going into your takedowns. You stick a good jab or a combo in their face as a sort of cover fire. The other thing that stops it is having superior timing and forward momentum. That's why strikers including Thai boxers normally though not always get taken down.
CSW has an amazing flow to it and the way it combines techniques into a fail-proof system based on the premise that "the move you're after is not going to work so then what?" is just awesome. check out David Lee's Crossface gym in London for some quality CSW. I trained there for a couple weeks and I improved my grappling considerably.
damn did anyone see the takedown at 159 i forgot which fight but he did the variation where you use your other hand to hook the leg and it worked amazing

As Bruce used to say use what works for you. That crap about Erik being rootless is stupid talk it took him a while to master his different arts Catch Judo BJJ and any other grappling that he has studied. That is what you call mixed martial arts.
