- Straight from one of my mix tapes when I lived in Miami, FL in the mid 90s.
Since there aren't many of these online, I decided to share them for any old school Power 96 fans 8), Sorry for the quality, I'm new to uploading these and I will attempt to clean it up in the future, enjoy!
-uploaded in HD at www.TunesToTube.com
I am 52 years old, I have been listening to that station since I was 14 when I lived in Cuba, with an old FM tape deck and an antenna more than 40 feet high. it was always the best power 96
If you were a teenager in Fl in the 90s and you wanted to measure the bass in your car you always popped in journey into bass; DJ Laz is a legend just like Baby Anne.
oh yeah!
Bass boom bottom
Cruising the Grove!
Legend!
Not just teenagers 👍
So many memories!! Born and raised in the County of Dade with Cuban roots!! Shout-out to everything Miami, especially the fins and the U!!!
I was 14 around 1995 and this definitely bring back memories. This was real music unlike today's music. My 14 year son calls this old people music. He doesn't have a clue.
i remember this back in the days when miami was the best place to live and be happy playing your bass in your old school cars in the 90
It was the best place to live back in those days for sure!!!
Yes people, this s**t was going down in the morning commute or on your way home over the airways!!!!!....No internet, no cell phones, just pure jammin’....Great time to be alive in Miami back in da day!!!
This reminds me of going to the skating ring on Wednesday nights.
Hot Wheels 👍👍🤣 in Kendall
Good times!
Right?! Used to be Gold Coast in FTL which closed down. Now for my kids is only Galaxy and Extreme in Broward :(
Nothing like Miami, back in the day..... Proud to be from Miami......

I'm a tru 305 boy born and raised. power 96 was the realist on the radio In the 305 at that time ....

Same here 305 KeyWest born. Bass and freestyle runs threw my gains.,💯🎧🎶💓
Monroe county here ,💯
Brother this is without a doubt one of the best era for music
Hialeah!
It seems to have been the peak of civilization too.
I friend of mine spent his summers with his father in NewYork and would bring these tapes from Florida and would blow my mind what they played on the Radio in West Palm Beach compared to what I heard in in New York. Been a fan of Miami Bass/Freestyle since
From WPB and i hear ya... Best scene ever...
This brings me back to my teenage years growing up in Hialeah and Hialeah gardens going toThunder wheels on Saturday nights and the dances at my middle school (palm Springs middle) on Fridays!!! Wow such memories!!!

Hialeah! Thunder wheels! Coño, those were the days!
The best DJ, and he was not just known in Miami. In South America at the time he was well known. I remember visiting Aruba in Christmas of 88 and he was down there doing his thing. DJ Laz is the best!

This was around the time I moved to Miami and I loved it. I miss living in Miami and all the good times I had out there in the late 90's.
U ain’t lyin bout tht I miss Mia now living in tx nd missin Mia
i miss south florida, i also miss what power 96 used to be. this was comforting
thank you.
South FL is NOT the same! Obama had no border control so its packed full
I live in fl my whole life its croweded and more and more tolls are added and more roads
@Mustang Carl yeah I know. We live in lakeland now. I go to south florida to visit friends and family now and then. It's definitely overcrowded and doesn't have the magic it did in the 90s.
Drop!!! I remember when power 96 started back in 85. They played the top 10. Then became popular after.
I was there in the "Year of 96". Those were wild times.
miami native, living in jersey now....miss those days.!!!
I remember growing up listening to dj laz and cox in the morning dj laz made me want to be a dj. 20 years later still look up to him
Laz is still kicking it like the party never stopped. He is the best.
I worked at Power 96 in the "Year of 96." This tape certainly brings back memories! Bo, DJ Laz, Itika Milanes, Joe Nasty, Kid... it was good times!!

Bo was hilarious...that laugh🤦😅😂😅😅😂
I remember driving on the I and having to pull over by 79th/62nd st just to laugh because tears used to fall outta my eyes cuz I couldn't see!!😅😂😅😂
@@ptpt6 Those were some wild times!
@@CarolS330 She was the best. I was so shocked when I heard about her death. Way too young.
Being stuck on the Palmetto was ok as long as you had the Power Hour on! Windows down, hair blowing in the wind & dancin in your seat, the good ol days!
wow, I must say it's pretty awesome to see all these comments! I'm glad these tapes bring back good memories for all you guys. I still have a bit more, just got to dig them up!

Nice! I grew up in Miami in the 70's & 80's (now living in Denver) and this definitely took me back. Nice job!
OMG - thanks ZZ. I not only remember DJ Laz but I remember this actual mix. I have lots of these mixes on old cassette tapes sitting up in my closet. I think I have this actual one. WOW. I also remember Eddie Mix and the Wheels of Steel. Those were the days. Does everyone remember Friday night, waiting for these power jams to start the night? Head out to a friends house and drink up before heading out around 10-11pm and staying out in South Florida all night!!!!
Eddie Gray , no problem man, if you have mixes you should definitely upload them up on youtube!!
Eddie G. please load them up!
I remember those days
Waaay before the beach had a curfew !
This brought back such great memories...Dj Laz is Miami's finest Dj...
Take me back in time... and take me back home to Miami please LOL, greetings from Seattle.
Keep up the uploads! Its great that the current generation can hear what the best radio station in Miami sounded like back in the day. Plus its a great way to archive and share with others the sound of Power 96!
Dj Laz WAS Power 96 for years.he made the station famous and worth listening to.even 99 Jamz those days didn't put as many bass music or do good mixes like Power 96 and its was all thanks to Dj Laz and slammin felix sama
I couldn't agree more! The pimp with the limp is king of booty!
Word Slammin felix sama was dope but the entire station brought it dont forget about dj rene dj jammin Johnny dj ballistic billy or dj phil jones.... the station had more mixshows through out the day than regular rotation!
They definitely had more mix shows than any station around the country, including the NYC market, and almost as much as their regular rotation. There were certain holiday weekends in either the 80's or 90's, not sure what years, where all 8 of their mixers, or whatever they had at that time, would mix all Memorial Day weekend & 4th of July weekend.
Gators 09 I certainly remember those mixes from the 90’s
The Pimp wit da Limp
DJ Laz was at Honey in Delray last night..the Miami bass and the free almost made me kinda emotional..Amazing set!
DJ Laz is part of my child hood thanks for this

I was 14 years old living in Fort Lauderdale at the time. This brings back strong memories of living in FL at the time and the 90's. I listened to Power 96 every day and had two 12" subs in my room. I very well could have heard this stream live.
Takes me way back! 305 all day!
This brings me back. Jealous J in the mix, Chico the Virgo, Power 96.5, Club Boca, Splack Pack, 4th St. and Rosemary, Weh Pam Beasch, Mini Trucks, 15" subs, That Quad Boomin'.
No joke... I found DJ Laz in the stores up here in Eastern Wa and I have been calling him in my top 5 since it came into effect in the early/mid 90's. Red Alert. Always showin' respect to the LAZ
Red Alert changed the game
