I'm mixed. My mom's white and my dad's black and I'm very dark and my hair is very kinky. I've had people say that I got the bad genes since I look more African. It's honestly horrible
Gurlllllllll, I don't even know you but I'm getting angry for you 😂. Shiet wish i could suxkerpunch the people that said that. I hope that you love yourself and don't let such comments bother you😊
YESSS I HAD THAT ON A TEST AND I WAS LIKE *raises hand* "what do i put here?" Teacher :"your race duh" Me :ummm Teacher fill it in ! Me: .... My friend "shes mixed" Me :yeah Teacher : just dont answer it ok
Ingrid Jansson I'm half white half Mexican and everyone I know thinks I'm full white because I'm light skinned. It makes me pissed that half of my racial identity is being erased.
Auntie Sam, can we stop pretending mexican is a race ? because it ain't mexicans are mestizo , essentially a mestizo paired with a white person , means that person is mostly white ( whether that person is white looking or not ). so you are here trying to deceive us.
@@reuben8648 Nationality is country of birth, and ethnicity is heritage. Example: An immigrant from Italy has a child in America. That kids ethnicity is Italian, race is white and nationality is American.
LangBellsChannel yeah but most of us mixed people don’t know everything about us. Like I’m white (Norwegian, tiny bit of French, German) then I am Mexican (idk if I’m Mexican or if im Hispanic, Latina, Etc), then I’m Native American (Shoshone) and a a tiny bit of Cherokee. So can you help me?
I've always wondered how mixed race people felt about being fetishised. My partner is mixed race and although he understand why this is offensive, it's never bothered him. I however always found it weird how both black and white people talk about mixed race children like they're a new exclusive handbag.
naturallybronzed xo I think fetishization of mixed race people isn't common everywhere. In countries where being mixed is the norm like the hispanic carribean countries, PR, DR,Cuba... it isn't a thing. Cus people are soo mixed it seems stupid to fetishize. What you do get is colorism being lighter skinned and having light eyes
Yvonne Rodriguez I do think it is a thing in Hispanic countries only because mixed race people that have "blacker" features aka kinky hair, thicker lips, dark skin are usually treated differently to those who are more in between or have features leaning towards a more European standard. For example, the mixed race woman in the green jumper would get treated differently from the mixed race guy with dark skin and kinky hair.
That's why I mentioned colorism. In PR, where I'm from there was a huge push to whiten the race. I myself am mixed but with kinky 4A hair. I don't get fetishized even though I'm lighter skinned or have more caucasian facial features. However fetishization here if it does happen is all about the hair. You can de dark as night as long is the hair is sitting right. That is the ultimate beauty standard by far. But I dont see white people ever saying i want mixed race kids. Black passing women don't neccesarily date white or white passing men for their genes. It is hard to explain or even conceive if you haven't grown up around it. I personally don't think of myself for example as being in interracial relationship even though my bf is white( for all I know his great grandma could be black idk). I dont think of our future children as mixed babies, just puertorican babies. My family has so many different shades that being mixed is just the norm. You dont think about being mixed or mixing consciously. Race issues here are different. But yeah colorism is a thing. You will still see people saying" pa negro yo" which basically means i'm already black and that is all the blackness I need in my life. Lol. It is messed up. Maybe we disagree on the fetishization part because here the people who are consciously dating outside their race are trying to lighten their blood line.
naturallybronzed xo the difference is in PR almost every is some percentage of black, that's why she said colorism. it's definitely a version of self hate where people don't want to have the black part of them or their future children be too visible. But people in PR know that their music, food, and culture are heavily influenced by the blackness in their bloodline. Most people are proud of their blackness unless its the visible traits like hair. And in PR a light skinned green eyed girl with straight hair dating a darker skinned brown eyed boy with thick hair isn't considered mixed race even tho to American or British eyes it would be.
Heinz57Human So do I. I'm mixed and when I tell people that they don't believe me and it's so annoying because I don't meet the standards of being mixed. I'm mixed with uncommon races together.
Yes!!!! I get that literally every day! I alway say like you know the area that I live in England (not gonna disclose that but you get it) then if they ask again I say the specific village then the street I live on and then if they still asking I say my mum's womb 😂
I get this too one of my workers singles me out because of it I don't get this from my mum's side witch are Indians but I get shit from my dad's race witch is black shame I can't see eye to eye with my dad's race but I can with my mum's but it's difficult
"where are you from?" -"I'm from here. I'm German." "But where are you reeaallly from?" -"from Germany" "you know what I meeean come on" -"just ask what u wanna know" "wHy aRe YOu BLacK" -"My mom's German, my dad's from Eritrea" ... ... ... "where's that"
I've never personally been asked to "pick a side." Though I get the impression this stems from society's unhealthy fixation on racial-identity. medium.com/@brandonbahret/why-we-must-resist-racial-identity-cd762c191c97
jay sintonus what are you on about? What did he say about racism? He was talking about people making people who are mixed feel like they have to be one race or the other when they're both. And if a doctor is asking for your race then giving them an accurate description of what your race is in detail would probably help them help you more then you saying you black or white when you both scientifically.
I hate when people tell me "you have to choose a side" and then if you do choose a side everyone tells you "oh no you're not dark/white enough" it's so demeaning and people don't understand
THANK YOU! It's so hard for us to know our place. I've found a lot of mixed people tend to struggle with feeling lost or disconnected because they have a hard time finding their tribe, so to speak. On the bright side, I think being mixed helps us to understand others better.
The same happens to me! One close friend of mine decided from one day to another that I have to identify as black otherwise I'm being racist and I'm denying my blackness. The problem is that I'm not one OR another. Both my parents are mixed and if we go reaaally deep in the past I have ancestry in Europe, Africa, Arabic countries, and Native South America. How can I pick and choose just one thing? Usually, I just say I'm Latin American because in Latin America we are a mix of all of that, but it is really annoying when people say you have to pick and choose a side of the fence and when you don't they look at you like as if you have a problem or you are not accepting yourself. Well... I am accepting myself and that's why I am not choosing one side. That's not how nature works...
My only solution to this is artificial insemination so I can avoid the BS of racist attitudes I'm capable to showing compassion tho some may not notice
@@bar_pas depends which Latino. Most of them are descendants of Spaniards and Portuguese, which are a Latin subgroup of Europeans. Though if there was mixing with natives, then it is mestizo...or with anyone else, like Asians or Africans. Yet, there are a lot of Caucasian whites who have very dark hair, bronze or olive skin and dark eyes
I'm mixed race and I really like when people ask me what my ethnicity is. Being shown interest into what my ethnic background is rather than just assuming is nice!
Sage Mirei I’m Japanese and black and the other black people at my school tell me to stop acting black and when I went to go visit my cousins in japan I hung out with them and one of their friends said i was adopted cuz I didn’t look like my cousin so I had to explain I was a halfu
+Jykeyl Patterson That must be rough, I'm sorry. When I'm with just my mom people sometimes assume I'm adopted too, because she has red hair and blue eyes.
You may be mixed race but you're mainly one culture; the dominant one. Usually the minority side of you gets assimilated e.g. you can't speak that minority language anymore and can't pass it to your children.

If you're mixed, you cannot be Negro. Mixed people are their own race, and should not be expected to replace, or substitute the other races responsible for their unique individual race. There are much more than a few races all over the world due to genetic sharing.
Shiela West but wouldn't it be for the better for the mix race to replace us? I mean race has done nothing but ruinin human history, because of race their has been only bad things such as racism and racism leads to genocide, slavery, segregation and has divide us. We shouldn't be divide we should he united to be strong and work together as humans. Race is only dividing us and is in the way of us achieving greatness as a species
Blue and White Skittles How does one even "act white" or "act black"? Are people seriously assigning personality traits to specific skin tones? That's ridiculous and stereotypical.
well if you're not conscious of it, you'll act certain ways without even thinking of it or knowing. If you're not conscious, you're more likely to "prefer" White people and continue on your assimilation journey into Whiteness. You'll quickly lose the "Black" side of you.
Shout out to all the mixed race people . You are what you are and should be respected for embracing your mixed heritage and not choosing a side . Love black girl 🥰
I love that , but I'm different. I'm mixed , born & raised in Philly & I was always taught/told that I'm just black. I NEVER knew a white person besides my mom & teachers until I got to h/s. My dad always said "you are what the father is" I never questioned it or wanted too. I think the biggest benefit that I get from being mixed is that it's my duty to love BOTH of my races. Whether my ppl on either side except me or not I HAVE TO love them. Can't pick your family or your color. But its cool bcuz I NEVER met a woman of any color who had a problem with me. Women have good taste 😊
He’s still mixed race. Could he be Native American? Also, in both being part English and American has nothing to do with race but ethnicity. On the other hand, both England and America are melting pots of so many different ethnicities so he is still mixed. Lmao
Dead Kings English and American are not races so he’s not mixed race. You sound dumb. That’s like saying if you’re half Russian and half polish you’re mixed race , no you’re not those are nationalities
Leba Groppo I'm Puerto Rican so I'm already mixed and mixed raced people are basically the whole population. But since Europe is a more homoegenous society, although they have immigrants, it's much more bizarre for them to see people who don't look as homogenous racially as they are.
Leba Groppo I'm from Italy and mixed-race and people are definitely weirded out by my looks and ask me where I'm from all the time. but Italy is a super white country so 😅 I've had people ask me where I'm from and then when I replied with: "Milan" they were like: "you don't look like it". like I'm sorry but what? haha
Ana Rivera my daughters are Puerto Rican (me) American and my husband is white (British) I dread the questions they ask but from a mother point I used to feel very self conscious when I was out with them because they were very white pale babies and always feared people wouldn't think I was there mom 😕
That’s a Nigerian thing. Our identity is not based on race, it based on regional culture. As a kid you take your father last name, and claim his culture, these days though ppl just say they from where their mom and dad are from.
Nikki Eke and can we just arrange a meeting where we tell everyone who can't seem to understand that black people aren't ALL african and white people can be african too??

* at McDonalds with dad * Millennial: uhmm isn't he way to old for you, like dating him like that is perverted and disgusting. Me: You know what's perverted? You, thinking that my dad is my boyfriend.
Kiana W. It happened to both me and my sister were mixed black and white as well as tall so we look older and he is black so people often think we’re not father and daughter
A Grammar Nazi. I took a survey in school today. On the last day, we all have a survey to improve the school. I had to select other. My bff is half native American, half black, and she had to, too.
This black girl went up to me and said, "How come boys like mixed girls? Your skin color's not even that nice and I'm a lot prettier than you." And then she tried to play it off like we were friends. I wish I was lying
@@CousinSid You guys can be racist just saying as a mixed person. Let's not repeat history and Africa tragedies. I'm half black and half Norwegian, why don't you Google the definition of racism before you make it lose meaning with all the black sjws.
Way back in middle school , I had one of my friends (who didn't know that I'm mixed race) say "I don't think people from different races should get married or mix their races together. It's just not right." I was like, "gurl, mom is white my dad is black. I am mixed race." Awkward for her lol. Later in high school I had a white boy at my art table talk to our group saying, "you know, I don't think opposites attract. I don't think I could ever be attracted to a black girl, no offense" (he says this while I'm sitting right across from him) i could only glare at him. I didn't say at the time cuz I was a scared freshman but buddy, honestly, just because you personally think so doesn't make it fact. My mom is white, my father is back. My sister is mixed and she's dating a white guy. My other sister is mixed and she married a mixed Mexican-white guy. They all love and are attracted to one another. We are all human. But come in all different shapes, sizes and colors and that's ok.
i think you are one of our undercover agents out there. They throw racist shit at you not knowing your background. I am playing undercover cop on the other skin tone spectrum. I have a black partner . to add t my comment earlier i was told by a few white men that they had never seen biracials as dark as my eldest son , ever. I never pretend to be white , never brought that up and i curved them on race issues. I straight up told them , they can't be biracial because I am half black meself lol!. They were hella confused ha ha ha.
Well who i´m considering my friend is just bases on the personality but when you are dating you want someone with a great personality AND is attraktiv(for you, in your eyes) and not every "race" is attraktiv for me, i dont choose that. you cant control your hormones when it comes to stuff like that. When your are an Asian Women who loves a Black man and he loves you back, thats great! If you are a White Man who loves a White Woman, thats great! dont judge either way..
I'm mixed race, my mums English and my dad was Indian but I'm super pale and everyone's always like "wait but your too pale to be mixed race" like ughhh sorry let me just change my skin colour so I can fit your standards 😂💗👑🌸
This reply alllll day! Lol! 'He cant be your dad your too white' Am i? Or is he maybe too dark? Haha. Please, provide me with a colour chart of 'standards' so i can go adjust my melanin levels 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️👌😆☺️ i feel your pain evangeline, lol.
My handsome eldest son is dark complected like Viola davis. I am mixed race and for all intent and purpose 99% of people think I am white. When I came to collect my kid at school, first time, nobody believed me . I stunned everyone when i mentioned that my son has a birth mark on his left shoulder ( I have the exact same one except mine is pale pink). I could tell they were waiting for me to leave the place so they can run their genetic mathematics.
Mine is the complete opposite my dad is mixed with white, black, and Native American and my mom is black and Native American. My dad is light skin my mom is darkskin so my siblings and i came out a brown/caramel color and when I tell people I’m multicultural/racial they think I’m lying we had a civil war project and I was made fun of and called a redskin and I wasn’t gonna be a house slave because I would be too dark. It hurt especially because I’m not majority white because people think to be mixed you have to be white and something. Mixed people come in all shades not just one.
I hate it when people say " oh, you sound white " and I every time I'm like " oh, I'm sorry I didn’t know my voice was supposed to have a race to" I mean what the heck?
different cultures have different ways of talking. you can tell the difference beetween a black person speaking, an asian and a white person. and the voices become more distinguishable if you want to get country specific. so yes a voice can have race behind it
wen u see fresh meme That's accent, not race. Yeah, different accents originated from different cultures and races, but you can easily find black people with British accents and white people with the supposed "black accent"
Kayla Is Krazy why does that bother you hun? Humans are curious beings. When I see a mixed race person I don't jump to ask them questions but if after the basic conversations I do like to ask ' if you don't mind me asking where are you from '.
claire lola well, the way you ask it wouldn't bother me lol. it's not even being asked that bothers me, because I understand that people aren't mind readers. it's just how people ask. like no one has ever asked me as politely as you worded it lol
Kayla Is Krazy oh I see, I guess that can be very annoying. Do you ever say one ethnicity more then the other sometimes just out of laziness lol. Also do you feel more connected with one ethnicity more ?
There is a difference if a total stranger comes up to your face demanding wHeRe YoU'rE fRoM?! or if someone you have known for a while asks in a respectful way. The former is what annoys the living hell out of many mixed-race ppl. Just to clarify.
Even as a dark skinned black girl, I still feel like I have to prove my “blackness” even though im not mixed, because of the way I speak and act, like over the phone I don’t “sound” black, can’t cook That well or dance and it’s like those little things are what apparently proves your a black girl to some people and my black friends are always teasing me any time I interact with my white friends or white people in general saying they’re “my people” I’ve gotten called Oreo so many times and it’s so stupid, mixed people must get it 10 times worst #smh y’all we are all beautiful just chill😅
It’s the same story for me but I’m Mexican. I have white skin and monolids. I get told by everybody especially my family that I’m not “Mexican enough”. It’s a struggle.
Wow, baby girl. I hear ya but you got a lot to learn about yourself so you can realize that you are THE MOST beautiful because you are *pure.* No offense against mixed race people but I think the pure heritage and untouched bloodline is the most beautiful and real. Whether black or white I think it's the way it supposed to be. you are what gave birth to all of this...to civilization! There would be no 'them" without you beautiful Black woman. Mixed race people wouldn't even get a 2nd look if they were not *mixed with Black.* So love yourself, please! For all of us and your/our future children's sake!

When I was really little, my parents took my brother and I to Costco and my mom went over to another section for a second and my dad told us we could go to the tables that had the free samples. So my brother and I walked over and my dad stood right behind us as we reached for the sample. and the lady at the table said "where r ur parents! U can't be here alone!" And my dad was literally standing over us with his hands on our shoulders (I think) yes he is black and my brother and I r lighter cuz my mom is white and she just assumed that he wasn't with us! I feel so bad for my dad because he was embarrassed and she was incredibly rude and judgmental.
Janae G that's so ridiculous! Someone called the cops on my white dad, because they thought he stole me as a kid. They also try to seat us at different tables in restaurants a lot.
See, that's the one thing that always gets me! How can people say that?! Their kids can be mixed race or adopted or just tagging along with a family friend. People are so rude sometimes.
Shit I feel you. Me and my you her brother are mixed, my mom is Creo and My dad is Honduran with my brother and mom both having a lighter skin complex as I have a more tan color people would assume I am adopted. It’s funny but annoying.
Them: "You're Black aren't you?" Me: "No I'm mixed race" Them: "You're still Black then" Me: "😑🤨 so a White woman gave birth 2 a Black child???" Them: "Erm..." Me: "Exactly now leave me be"
i ALWAYS get “what are you?” and it’s never really offensive but there definitely is an obsession with mixed babies. i think the one that bothers me is asking if my mom is my mom... like yes, she’s my mother.
k. j. I feel like it’s not really “what are you?“ that’s necessarily offensive, but how they look at you right before they ask. Makes me feel like I’m in some sort of glass case.
I think going out with family when being a Mixed race and not matching the “Perfect Mixed Skin Tone” is one of the most challenging things in your life It’s Certainly one of mine (Black + Puerto Rican)
I feel you. My moms black and my dad is mostly white. I have extremely curly hair but my skin is only slightly tanned so most people confuse me for just being white and outright call me a liar. It's very frustrating.
or going to a family reunion/birthday/whatever party and having the only mom who married a white and vietnamese man instead of a black one like the rest of the family. so i'm the lightest one -_-
THE GREATEST response! I should have said that when some blacks asked me and my brother "y'all got the SAME dad??" Well, at least they weren't like other people...who had the GALL to ask IN FRONT of either parent...now THAT's RUDE. No parent should be shamed by someone for not looking exactly like their kids! I have heard from adopted kids that people getting overly inquisitive about their "real" parents in front of the ones that have them currently and show them love is really OFFENSIVE.
If you think that is bad, I've gotten, "I can't tell what you are?"..but yes that is annoying, its like "Im human?" Why does my racial identity matter so much??
@Nathaniel Hall I think with that you are mixed but I don't know how this race thing works in the USA.I'm half full white and half full Turkic...I have brown skin but Germanic face and hair...some people called me Her Sultan for this...I consider myself mixed or brown.
Shanique Marquis why should that annoy you? I'm half Ghanaian & half Jamaican, I'm so totally more Jamaican, I don't relate to Africans at all. Jeez you guys are really crying over nothing
If someone asked me if I'm more English or Caribbean yes that's acceptable because it's two different cultures but they ask as if black and white people have certain characteristics.
honestly, i dont like if someone asks why someone lets something bother him because questions or prejudigces like this ARE annoying, in fact and for real. and they somehow hurt when they come too often. if someone asks me why do i bother it gives the responsibility for not being hurt back in my hands rather than let the people who insult be hold responsible for stop hurting
Shanique Marquis I get"is that ur real name?" Do u get that too? especially cuz where u live? i live in an almolst all white city too. I always go with" no they let children pick their own names at birth now"..idiots.
"they're being too sensitive" well some people are more sensitive to certain words depending on different experiences... for example i don't mind "i love mixed babies" or "where you really from?" but i do get upset at "don't act white" and "is that ur real mom?", while some of my other mixed friends don't find any of this offensive or find all of it offensive
bee.syrup lol. I love the "don't act white"! I dont get "don't act", I get"u act so white"..my response: NO SHIT, I WAS RAISED BY TWO RELIGIOUS WHITE WOMEN IN ORANGE COUNTY! how else am I supposed to act? Like I just left the ghetto? lol. it's all just ignorance. and we hafta learn to laugh n not get upset at the stupid. my mom had the biggest problem in elementary with us. the school never believed we were hers. I understand child saftey, but if denying u access to ur own kid is gunna be a thing, maybe a description should go with parents name? like, can no one be adopted of another race or what? or to different races can't get together? horrible.
what the fuck do you expect people to think when they see your mom and you look nothing like her??? "is that your real mom" is a perfectly fine question. and seriously "dont act white" is something literally everyone who isn't white is told, people who arent even mixed get told that all the time. getting told that has nothing to do with being mixed ffs.
Akosa117 true, peeps of all races get told "don't act so white" but is it really anyone's business , "is that ur real mom?"..no. But getting upset over it isn't worth it either. N I'm guessing ur not mixed or u wouldn't be replying ffs.
MiSti I am very much of mixed race, and thats why it bothers me so much like how can other mixed be so ignorant as to what it looks like from someone who isnt mixed. most people dont assume you're mixed when they first meet you, they assume your just one. so obviously they're curious and confused when they find out your mixed
I've got a white dad and a black mom, and my brother and i came out looking asian or latino, depending on who you ask. I've been approached by different people of different asian ethnicities and they all assumed i was one of their own. It's even funnier when i was actually living in south east asia because the locals will speak to me in their native tongue, and i always tell them that i don't speak their language, they would immediately switch to english and be like "Where's your sense of nationality? How come you can't speak your country's language???" and i would always blow them away by telling them that i'm not actually asian to begin with XD Plus it's ALWAYS weird when i'm out with my dad, sometimes strangers would give me dirty looks and think i'm my dad's hooker, or maybe i'm some sort of really young gold digger, and a few times some of his acquaintances assumed i was his second wife XD
I'm kind of confused why is when people think of mixed race it's automatically black and white, I'm half Asian and half white, does that not count? Like hey we're here too it's not just black and white mixed race.
Juliette Schindler i'm half white half mexican technically meaning i'm mixed but that's true people tend to forget about that. they only pay attention to "exotic" looking people
It counts Juliette but Whites are obsessed with Black people because they are a parallel and completely exotic comparison to themselves and since Western Media dominates this is what you will get. It becomes this is the extreme opposite conversation as if there are no other variables. AND if you noticed they have an Asian and White girl mix in the video. You are still considered mixed it is just the simple fact black/white mixed is exported more so by the mainstream.
D Ransom yes I realize however it's not just Asian white people it's so many more cultures, and that's why I find it stupid how people don't think that they count or they're considered mixed race. I get your point though but they need to be aware of the other cultures.
“Where are you from?” “Germany.” “Yeah, but where are you reeeaaaally from?” “Germany. I mean it, I was born and raised here. I’m from here.” “You know what I mean” “You’re not asking where I’m from, are you? You’re asking where my parents are from.” “Yea” “My mum’s from the Ukraine, my dad’s from Ethiopia.” “...” “...” “Where’s Ethiopia?”
I'm from Ghana and Spain (but English born and raised) and I've never understood this one... if someone asks you where you're from, why do you feel the need to only say one of your cultural backgrounds? If someone were to ask me where I'm from, I'd tell them I'm Spanish Ghanaian AND English. Are you not proud of everything that makes you you?
Onetime I was at a fundraiser for my school and my white mom came to get me so I stared walking to her and out of nowhere this women starts sprinting to me and she starts saying things like were are your parents you cant just leave(all the while my mom is right behind the women) and my mom cleared her throat, picked my up and left and the lady looked so dumb founded.
I remember being in my art class and everyone was messing around (we had a supply teacher that basically gave up with us because of awful behaviour) and me and a group of white people and a group of black people were all standing together. Then this one boy (he's black) told the black people to go on the left and the white on the right however, I'm half black and half white so I was made to stand in the very middle. Everyone thought it was a joke and funny but no one could or would understand how singled out I felt. It made me kind of feel alone because I was the only one there so they made me feel "different. The worst part is the people laughing and joking were my "friends."
Naomi Evans Wright Damn that's horrible, I'm sorry and disgusted that you had to experience that. One of my teachers (he was white) made us do the same thing luckily 1/3 of my class was mixed but it was weird...
Naomi Evans Wright you could of just went on one of the sides that you look most of that’s what I do I’m mixed but I just say I’m white cuz I look white
I hate when people ask which race I perfer to date or think I can only date the race that I look like the most to them like no I can date whoever I want. I'm not dating someone for there color just so you can be pleased
usually, people of mixed race "prefer" to date the more dominant culture/race within their mix. Typically White. Unfortunately, that's how the minority culture/ethnicity gets erased within the person and their future lineage.
Omg *THANK YOU* I hate it when people ask “What are you” or something like we’re dogs. On the leap I put black and white. The grading people must be *shook*
That's cap. Nigerians don't say white man, we say oyinbo. Also, we probably say yellow sisi or yellow bobo. We'd call a person oyinbo/baturia if they're really light skin/lighter than the people in the area.
okay, I've fallen victim to asking "what are you?" and I'm sorry to those people. on a positive side, my biracial friend embraces these stereotypes as hilariousness
The XVlogs I'm mixed and and I started working at a place that is majority white and two or three black people... white guy ask me what are you because you are more friendly and more close to black people( mind you I knew these two black people long before every even getting the job) < I was just meeting everyone else for the first time. 🙄 that was annoying.
The XVlogs i don’t think it’s rude or bad to ask someone like what their ethnicity is, it’s just someone being curious/wanting to know you (even if it comes off as rude)
Katie Ito I don't appreciate it while I'm getting to know someone and one of the first questions they ask me if "WHAT are you" instead of "WHO". I barely know you, you barely know me you don't even now my personality, my race shouldn't be the first thing that pops to mind when you think of me
Christian Plummer there's a difference between being something and having a label. I like being asian, being myself, but i don't like the labels people give me.
i never understood ppl who think some races are more attractive than others, but i find it even weirder when ppl say "omg _______ babies r so cute" like wtf ALL BABIES LOOK THE SAME OTHER THAN SKIN TONE, HAIR, LIPS, AND EYES
i honestly don't get why people need to hate on mixed race people like the guy in the red hoodie said mixed race kids are the results of people from different ethnecities loving each other and their differences... so that being said it should be seen as a beautiful thing 😊 here in france we don't have that much of an issue with being mixed race i can be friends with whoever i want and i can love whoever i want i think every ethnicities and colors are beautiful black white asian latino whatever we are all people 😊 i hope americans will stop calling me black or "light skin" when i go to the us because i'm not fully black and i’m not fully white either why would being part black make me black that makes no sense...especially since me being half white doesn’t make me white either 😅😂 , i'm mixed and that's it no need for one of the two sides to « take over » 😊 personally i love being mixed ,and i love both my cultures 🇫🇷 + 🇸🇳 and I don’t think anyone should be able to tell me I have to « choose » I love my black side and I love my white side they are equal and both are interesting.
Aïda kaufmann it's just annoying when white people tell you that they would date a black man only to have mixed children that will get "curls like me" I get this A LOT. And I think it's disgusting to use black men to get different looking kids.
Garnet it is but most of the time people say dumb stuff like that but the truth is you don't choose who you fall in love with 😊 so color doesn't matter i used to be more attracted to white guys mostly but now i find asian guys and malgaches really cute so taste changes it's just that we each like certain features on certain ethnecities now my boyfriend is malgache and i didn't expect to find this ethnecity attractive but i guess i just do 😂 anyway i don't think people mean it when they say that they would date black men "just" to get mixed kids 😂 they are juste afraid of admitting to themselves that... they kind of like black guys 😂 i think...
Parsimonious senegal is just another country on this planet why would you say "ew" that's really disrespectfull would you like it people said "america ew.." ? it's juste not nice 😑 also no one chooses their ethnic background so what do you want me to say? i don't feel senegalese nor french honestly i just feel human maybe you can't get that...
Im a mix of Caribbean and European but I look more white so when people ask my race/ background, it actually kind of makes me happy that they notice/ are interested
Same sometimes in the process of answering I get shy and nervous cause I'm scared they'll be mean and dismiss what I say and still call me one race. Or theyll make fun of my mixture . Once someone called my mixture weird .
Caribbean is a nationality btw not an ethnciity. There is indian caribbean , black caribbean, chinese caribbean, latino caribbean, white/french caribbean, white/ irish caribbean, white/italian caribbean, creole caribbean and more.
The Flagged UA-camr II well it is an ethnicity and no they do not most that I know. I’m Hispanic and white and I refer to myself as a mix. You can’t contradict me as I am this type of mix. Now if you were Latino and white you could tell me in an opinion otherwise. But that would just be your opinion, I’m guessing you aren’t this type of mixed race, so please stop and don’t contradict me because I know what and who I am. Sorry for the saltiness.
i hate when people that are one of the races you are mixed with say you're not that race because you might sound different or "white", or just because you were a raised a bit differently
I remember my friend Man Hei complaining that 'All the English people think I'm Chinese, but all the Chinese people think I'm English' It's kinda sad, because I really saw him as just a guy, but I definitely saw him as Chinese as well as English.
I'm half white half Mexican. People just think I'm white and give me that good ol' "stupid guilty privileged white person" treatment. And furthermore, I talk in many different ways depending on my mood and environment or subject and how serious or casual it is. So there are times when someone might think I'm "trying to act black". Nah, homie. That's just me being me. Got it? :U lol
i'm mixed and i love being asked what i am, because my whole life my family tried to deny that i had a non norwegian side to me. so people being interested and wanting to hear about it makes me happy x
I always found the whole thing that if a person was mixed with white or any other race people automatically assume they will adopt the culture of the "non-white" half. if you are half white half black you are exactly that: half white and half black. Why is that so hard to understand!
Actually, its the opposite, most people know if you mix with White, you'll act White more than anything and can't speak the minority language or know the culture. Biracial people who are mixed with Black and White, typically don't speak in AAVE either.
I adopted both cultures. It's just that I'm Muslim so I don't go to the pub or club. I still drink tea and bird watch like any other English person and I still enjoy a good poetry session and coffee with my Arab homies. ;D
my youngest is deaf , we are in the process of adopting a deaf sibling for him . We know the chances of us having another deaf child are slim. He is a lovely lad , we are all learning the French sign language , my eldest son is 100% fluent already . At some point we will all learn the german sign language as I am half german and i plan to relocate the fam there in 3 years.
"Stop acting white" For those who say this, how are you even supposed to act a color?? Ever asked yourself that? We're people for crying out loud and if you're gonna look at it the other way still then I'm acting purple today.
People always ask me where I’m from, and they never ask where my British friends are from. I’m from England too, I just happen to have an Indian mum who was also born here. *STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS*
dude I swear to God in the past 3 years I've turned from lighter skinned to darker skinned. AND I LIVE IN FUCKIN PENNYLVANIA. My tan line hits harder than the player rate of Fortnite
Oooh I need to send this to my boyfriend: he's quite mixed and the amount of crap he still has to hear is incredible. From friends asking about his penis size (because his mother is Asian and Black while his father is white), the questions of "where are you from" (people get pissy when he replies "France", even though he is indeed French!), the constant analysis of his racial identity due to personal tastes ("he must identify as black because he like rap music!"), and so on...
As a biracial person, I don't mind people asking me about my background, but the way people ask me is the issue I have. We're individuals, not objects to be perused. I've also given up on trying to prove myself to those who don't like me identifying as biracial and not solely black. Fuck it, I'm me, I'm proud of my dual heritage but I ain't got shit to prove to any of y'all!
it is the way people ask questions. and also because you hear those configured and rehashed the same way so many times. if you are in a bad mood, you can lash out. I remember practicing rebuttals in the front of the mirror when i was a kid. It has not stopped entirely as I am often prepared for an avalanche of passive aggressive comments.
Almost everyday i hear "you don't look spanish" or "oo you're spanish? Can you say something in spanish" like damn do i need to show my mums passport to show i am spanish, like come on.
A. Angel yes! Every time I see a mixed race video there's always one darker person amongst 4 other lighter skin people. And people usually only talk about being white/something else
A. Angel even though Im mixed black/white Im not lightskinned and I dont feel "mixed " enough it's important to show mixed ppl with a darker complexion
I’m half South-American and half African. When I used to have activities where your parents were going to be there people always thought my mum adopted me or she was just a family friend, as I have an afro and have deeper skin-tone and she has wavy hair and she has a lighter skin-tone. With my dad side I wasn’t African enough and had to prove myself. For anyone who has to prove themselves for their race or even have to choose, don’t choose. Just be yourself, because there are enough people who go through the same thing. 🙂😉

Auntie Sam, can we stop pretending mexican is a race ? because it ain't mexicans are mestizo , essentially a mestizo paired with a white person , means that person is mostly white ( whether that person is white looking or not ). so you are here trying to deceive us.

Some people in these comments don't know the difference between Race, Ethnicity and Nationality
Sorry honestly please tell me. I’m confused.
@@reuben8648 Nationality is country of birth, and ethnicity is heritage.
Example: An immigrant from Italy has a child in America. That kids ethnicity is Italian, race is white and nationality is American.
@@LangBellsChannel White is not a race, its a skin colour!
@@LangBellsChannel their race is roman and latin.

THANK YOU! It's so hard for us to know our place. I've found a lot of mixed people tend to struggle with feeling lost or disconnected because they have a hard time finding their tribe, so to speak. On the bright side, I think being mixed helps us to understand others better.
I'm very sorry that you have endured that. You don't have to pick a side. You are you.

Skyler Dumas I'm Sorry but having a racial preference DOESNT make you racist... also, Mexicans aren't white.
The guy only said his opinion. You are allowed to date your race as well (it is not illegal yet)
Yasmin Ball some Mexicans are in fact, white. White Hispanic is a thing.

"If you had to pick a side, which would it be?" WTF??

I hate it when people say " oh, you sound white " and I every time I'm like " oh, I'm sorry I didn’t know my voice was supposed to have a race to" I mean what the heck?
different cultures have different ways of talking. you can tell the difference beetween a black person speaking, an asian and a white person. and the voices become more distinguishable if you want to get country specific. so yes a voice can have race behind it
Yea I guess you're right

Why does that bother you ?
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
This is a very old British proverb, meaning that words taken from the mouths of others shouldn’t have any effect on you and your mental state. Violence should be the only personal factor that should effect you. By getting offended by these petty and ignorant ideals and concepts (words), doesn’t it prove you are either weak-willed or easily moved. The world is changed by people’s actions and behaviour, and people tend to do this (in my experience) as a way to demean others and relieve themselves of their own inadequately. By paying heed and letting yourself be effected aren’t you just feuling them, thus increasing it’s frequently.
Unlike yourselves, I have broken through this barrier, and this isn’t used as a subject of ridicule by my surroundings bullies anymore.
She was just being plain rude. Even if you were not mixed, adoption is a thing? I am questioning her mental capacity.
Janae G oh that’s bad but luckily it doesn’t happen to me cuz my whole family looks white/Hispanic
Shit I feel you. Me and my you her brother are mixed, my mom is Creo and My dad is Honduran with my brother and mom both having a lighter skin complex as I have a more tan color people would assume I am adopted. It’s funny but annoying.

Them: "You're still Black then"

THE GREATEST response! I should have said that when some blacks asked me and my brother "y'all got the SAME dad??" Well, at least they weren't like other people...who had the GALL to ask IN FRONT of either parent...now THAT's RUDE. No parent should be shamed by someone for not looking exactly like their kids! I have heard from adopted kids that people getting overly inquisitive about their "real" parents in front of the ones that have them currently and show them love is really OFFENSIVE.
Jessica Williams Thank you!❤
i have had to say this so many times within my 13 yrs of my life
I use the same response too. “I’m human”..
The person asking looks perplexed 🤔
2:40 "you're either mixed race or black" THANK YOU!! I'm so sick of every other race besides black just getting ignored or not counting
The “what are you?” question drives me CRAZYY
We all are humans.
If you think that is bad, I've gotten, "I can't tell what you are?"..but yes that is annoying, its like "Im human?" Why does my racial identity matter so much??
i got that a lot...
@Nathaniel Hall I think with that you are mixed but I don't know how this race thing works in the USA.I'm half full white and half full Turkic...I have brown skin but Germanic face and hair...some people called me Her Sultan for this...I consider myself mixed or brown.
And before you can answer, they always start guessing.
Two that annoys me are; do you think you're more white or black and don't worry we see you as white (I live in a predominantly white area). 🙄
Shanique Marquis why should that annoy you? I'm half Ghanaian & half Jamaican, I'm so totally more Jamaican, I don't relate to Africans at all. Jeez you guys are really crying over nothing
Yelly Yellez you are exactly right.
Preach 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
bee.syrup lol.

How come you can't speak your country's language???" and i would always blow them away by telling them that i'm not actually asian to begin with XD
Plus it's ALWAYS weird when i'm out with my dad, sometimes strangers would give me dirty looks and think i'm my dad's hooker, or maybe i'm some sort of really young gold digger, and a few times some of his acquaintances assumed i was his second wife XD
The dad part - doesnt have to be an assumption of a different race. My dad and I are both white and still would get stared at. Weird.
Omg I feel you! My dad is also white and my mum black amd I look asian like dafuq 😂

Firegen1 both my parents are mixed race.
I'm kind of confused why is when people think of mixed race it's automatically black and white, I'm half Asian and half white, does that not count? Like hey we're here too it's not just black and white mixed race.
Juliette Schindler actually I think asian and white mixes are the most popular in the world...I'm a quarter white and half Asian btw
OMG YES! I'm half white and half Hispanic and when I tell people I'm mixed they automatically go "oh so is ur mom black or ur dad black?"
D Ransom yes I realize however it's not just Asian white people it's so many more cultures, and that's why I find it stupid how people don't think that they count or they're considered mixed race. I get your point though but they need to be aware of the other cultures.

"You're not ________ enough." A sentiment that I and quite a few mixed people are bombarded with.
To white to be black to white to be black
same bro, it hurts
"Yes, I'm myself enough."
"mixed race people are created from the love of two different races" That is "buff" indeed!
Or a quick shag.
I’m mixed race too and I’m proud of it!
Gabby O Hispanic is not a race and most Hispanics identify with white anyway
The Flagged UA-camr II well it is an ethnicity and no they do not most that I know. I’m Hispanic and white and I refer to myself as a mix. You can’t contradict me as I am this type of mix. Now if you were Latino and white you could tell me in an opinion otherwise. But that would just be your opinion, I’m guessing you aren’t this type of mixed race, so please stop and don’t contradict me because I know what and who I am. Sorry for the saltiness.
Gabby O Swedish is a ethnicity you don't hear anybody saying I'm Swedish and white
The Flagged UA-camr II yes I know that but I don’t identify myself as Latino so I call myself Hispanic
Gabby O Hispanic is a term that is rooted from the country Spain which is Europe LOL
i hate when people that are one of the races you are mixed with say you're not that race because you might sound different or "white", or just because you were a raised a bit differently
kiwi kawa yeah. I’ve seen my friends go through that. It sucks seeing it
I remember my friend Man Hei complaining that 'All the English people think I'm Chinese, but all the Chinese people think I'm English'
It's kinda sad, because I really saw him as just a guy, but I definitely saw him as Chinese as well as English.
Iv only seen black ppl bully mixed race black kids. The feeling of inferiority surfaces to make someone a bully.
Literally. I’m White and Pakistani but I have light skin and have been raised by my white mum so people just dismiss my ethnicity ://
Got it? :U lol
I'm mixed and proud. 🙌🏽
I related to most what of was said.
Daryl Allman hell yeah!✌🏼
@blueBeanieboos TV Trust me, there will be a few people who will look at you and start to study you eventually.
Say it loud!
👌🏼
I'm mixed I know how they feel. And my mom is white but my dad is black and when I go out with my mom everyone thinks that I am adopted
sss dove same
Sameeeee😝
sss dove true tho I’m mixed to
sss dove omg SAME Welt that my dad is the white one and my mom has dark skin 😂
sss dove ME TOO
"Why did your parents betray their people and heritage?"
Kezia Rhodes omg that has actually happened to me.
Nastasya Filippovna Yes, this is a good one! Alot of people think this but won't actually say it out loud.
Nastasya Filippovna Same because I'm an Italian, Spaniard, and Mexican.
Nastasya Filippovna This is the worst! My dad is Persian and I always get that question.
This is what people should be saying to race mixed children tbh
i'm mixed and i love being asked what i am, because my whole life my family tried to deny that i had a non norwegian side to me. so people being interested and wanting to hear about it makes me happy x
living in brazil means not hearing those questions because literally everyone is mixed
Person: So like are you more black or Samoan?
Me: pretty sure I'm both, bruv.
Ufa
Kefe
Ayifa Fatoonoo Or getting called Samoan when you're black, white, and Native American.
I always found the whole thing that if a person was mixed with white or any other race people automatically assume they will adopt the culture of the "non-white" half. if you are half white half black you are exactly that: half white and half black. Why is that so hard to understand!
Mand lin repeat it one more time for the people in the back !
Actually, its the opposite, most people know if you mix with White, you'll act White more than anything and can't speak the minority language or know the culture. Biracial people who are mixed with Black and White, typically don't speak in AAVE either.
Mockavel Velli what are you on about
@christine It's called "assimilation" and "acculturation". Google it.
I adopted both cultures. It's just that I'm Muslim so I don't go to the pub or club. I still drink tea and bird watch like any other English person and I still enjoy a good poetry session and coffee with my Arab homies. ;D
I'm mixed race and deaf as well and proud of it
my youngest is deaf , we are in the process of adopting a deaf sibling for him . We know the chances of us having another deaf child are slim. He is a lovely lad , we are all learning the French sign language , my eldest son is 100% fluent already . At some point we will all learn the german sign language as I am half german and i plan to relocate the fam there in 3 years.
Lechiffresix six that's nice 😊
Define proud. If you mean anything other than "unashamed" then you really shouldn't be.
t.co/0CejrNI1Q6
I got told by an ex friend “technically you’re not white or Asian”
BRO my mom is Asian and my dad is white,?? I’m both??
"Stop acting white" For those who say this, how are you even supposed to act a color?? Ever asked yourself that? We're people for crying out loud and if you're gonna look at it the other way still then I'm acting purple today.
"Where did you get this exotic creature from?" What kind of person says that lmao
I told a kid my background and he is just like “no you’re not”
People always ask me where I’m from, and they never ask where my British friends are from.
I’m from England too, I just happen to have an Indian mum who was also born here.
*STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS*
Im mixed race but im darker skinned and i have more black features so I don't get the comments.
Mizuki Moe I'm light skinned mixrace maybe cos my country is cold and cant get lots son like my brothers
So like the guy in the video with the red hoodie
dude I swear to God in the past 3 years I've turned from lighter skinned to darker skinned. AND I LIVE IN FUCKIN PENNYLVANIA. My tan line hits harder than the player rate of Fortnite
Lucky you!😄
mergirl2000 Dunne mmm it's a mystery
Oooh I need to send this to my boyfriend: he's quite mixed and the amount of crap he still has to hear is incredible. From friends asking about his penis size (because his mother is Asian and Black while his father is white), the questions of "where are you from" (people get pissy when he replies "France", even though he is indeed French!), the constant analysis of his racial identity due to personal tastes ("he must identify as black because he like rap music!"), and so on...
"Is your dad black?" Omg not every black/white mixed children has a black dad, I get this at least twice a month 🙄
Kayla yes !
Kayla
but Is he though?
I always get the opposite! People are always shocked that my mum's white for some weird reason
Kayla Ikr my mom is black and my dad is white
Padraig Mullane samee
Where are all of my people, who go through this on a daily basis
The guy with the red hoodie is in Some Girls!!!
AntWithaRant I know!!! 😁😁
Juliette Knott did you notice he only had 3 fingers on his right hand
Bruh, i didnt even notice
Disco Stu no
AntWithaRant i new i recognized him from somewhere
Well culture and ethnicity is not just in blood or DNA so if you know nothing of the language and culture, you're really not of that said culture.
Are you white, are you black? No, I'm tan. 😳 wow! What a beautiful tan! 😏
When they say "Oooh, so you're a HYBRID"
Ever been called a mutt ?
yes i am.
faith elson yeah i been called a mongrel
OMG HYBRID AND MUTT OR “SO U COME FROM BREEDERS” EWWWWW
Representation for darker complexion mixed kids is important. We exist and we matter. #stopwhitewashing
A. Angel yes! Every time I see a mixed race video there's always one darker person amongst 4 other lighter skin people. And people usually only talk about being white/something else
A. Angel even though Im mixed black/white
Im not lightskinned and I dont feel "mixed " enough
it's important to show mixed ppl with a darker complexion
YES YES YES
PREACH
A. Angel yasssssss
Person; “Hey kid, where is you’re mom?”
Me: Next to me....
