I grew up in this region spending my childhood in the mountains on the Dagestani side. My father is half Dargin, half Lak. Growing up I heard so many folklore stories about the Caucasian mountains, Elbrus etc. it’s a fascinating place with a rich history history.

In Pakistan and Afghanistan we have many epic tales about "Koh-e-Kaf" Persian for Caucasus mountains. Our ancestors thought that great black demons (who slept for 6 months and vice versa and fairies lived there. The stories were about heroes defeating the demons to marry the fairies.

It is not one mountain system but a series of related mountain systems, there's nothing wrong with creating an overall name. It's similar to how the multiple mountain systems in North and South Americas are called the Cordillera belt. Two major parallel chains in Mexico, 5 chains in North America, and 3 chains in South America belong to it.

I went to The Caucasus Mountains in 2019, and the area is stunningly beautiful. The old defence towers are fascinating, the roaring rivers as they race down through the mountain valleys, and the music and food of the ethnic people living there is just transcendent. The Lower Caucasus are picturesque as they run through Tbilisi. Georgia is a wonderful country to visit. For me, placing the boundary between Europe and Asia along the spine of The Greater Caucasus makes the most natural and geolographical sense.

7:40 - The visual guide is a bit misleading, as the Scythians migrated to the north Caucasus from the Pontic Steppe, above Georgia.
7:46 - The Kingdom of the Abkhazians was a Kartvelian kingdom, not Abkhazian in its modern sense.
7:57 - The Kingdoms of Imereti and Kartli were rump states of the autochthonous Georgian Kingdom.

You're conflating two separate issues - the formation of Europe and Asia (Laurentia) has a very long and complex plate tectonic history (as has the rest of the world - look up Pangea and Gondwana). The continents have not finished moving and will over the coming millions of years continue to change. Humanity and all life is entirely irrelevant to this process - so don't mix them up, it's not valid.

He searched for signs most of his life, even though he never found it, but he managed to build a small hotel in Gveleti. He and later his sons have lead many expeditions with mountain climbers to the top of the Kazbek. In one of those expeditions with French climbers the whole group almost died, most group got blinded by snow, but miraculously managed to survive.

The Caucasus Mountains are the northernmost border of Persian/Iranian civilization. They are a natural barrier preventing northern steppers from breaching the south and, at the same time, stopping Iranians from ruling the north. According to some sources, Cyrus the Great made the Goge and Magog wall to fully seal it. The uppermost stronghold of ancient Persians was created by the Sassanids in the 4th Century AD in the city of Derbent, Russia which is still a castle to visit today. Pretty much the Game of Thrones and its wall.

      John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

I grew up in Siberia. All my childhood on a tv it was an endless war conflicts around that region. In a literature classes on 19 centuries was all the same in Tolstoy and Lermontov books. So, in my mind it's still like no-go area. Although i respect brave people who live there. But anyways i wanted to say that i dreamed to see mountains once in a while. My parents didn't have money to travel far. When i finished school i decided to hitchhike eithe to Caucuses or to Altay. Altay was much closer so i went there and was shocked. It was like different paradize world with no mosquitoes in a summer wirh rivers you can drink water from, warmer and cleaner. Beautiful nature. I believe Caucuses is as beautiful. Then i realize that probably Siberia is not the place people have to live. I mean, you may live there if you want, but you don't have to. I suspect that one way or another my ancestors were forsed to live in Siberia. So I have changed since and has been living already in different cities and countries. And everywhere weather climate was better.

      1. Talking about osetians being annexed by georgian regions… osetians are iranian people who migrated in “ north osetia” while it was georgia. They started migration to “ south osetia” only in late nineteenth century under russian rule and startred georgian cleansing soon after with russian help in 1917. It’s misleading to say that georgian kingdoms took something from them when they are the one who migrated into the Georgian territories…
      2. Apkhazia is region of georgia. Georgia is unification of vastly different cultural regions. For example in svaneti region they talk using svan language which is unique language and has nothing in common with rest of georgian languages… they eat mostly meat, burry their dead as fast as possible , virginity before marriage is a bad thing, killing a killer of your family member is ok, it neighbors megrelians speak megrelian language also unique they burry their dead after as much time as possible sometimes eveb week after, killing killer is pround upon must be injailed , they love hot and spicy food with ton of vegan options. Every region of Georgia is very different from each other yet we all call ourselves georgians. Also most of “ abpkhazians” don’t even live in apkhazia they fled … apkhazia was part of chlochis since 13 th century bc, and king david iv builder also known as kong of apkhazia united all regions and once again created georgian kingdom. Flag that we use to this day is david flag which was flag of apkhazian kingdom. Why all regions got split into small kingdoms is large topic but they still were georgians. Same as saying that chinas dinasties were still china otherwise china history starts from late twentieth century which is wrong…
      3. Russia also recognized it as georgian territory they changed it only in 2008…

“ In the 17th century, by pressure of Kabardian princes, Ossetians started a second wave of migration from the North Caucasus to the Kingdom of Kartli.[27] Ossetian peasants, who were migrating to the mountainous areas of the South Caucasus, often settled in the lands of Georgian feudal lords.[28] The Georgian King of the Kingdom of Kartli permitted Ossetians to immigrate.[29] According to Russian ambassador to Georgia Mikhail Tatishchev, at the beginning of the 17th century there was already a small group of Ossetians living near the headwaters of the Great Liakhvi. This period has been documented in the travel diaries of Johann Anton Güldenstädt who visited Georgia in 1772. The Baltic German explorer called modern North Ossetia-Alania simply Ossetia, while he wrote that Kartli (the areas of modern-day South Ossetia) was populated by Georgians “

Conflicts in Abhazia and Osetia were stirred by KGB as in the later years of the USSR communists tried to stop countries like Georgia from seeking independence by creating military conflicts inside. Military clashes of the late 80s, the early 90s and in 2008 were basically caused and orchestrated by Russia, first to retain Georgia within the USSR and later to bring it back within Russian sphere of influence and defacto strip it of any political independence.

The first Abkhazian kingdom was Georgian speaking and Georgian Christian with a Georgian ruling class and population, the Apsuans who live there today migrated many centuries later.
South Ossetia never existed until the 1920s when it was created by the Bolshevik invaders. Ossetians only began to move to Georgia in the 18th when invited by the Georgian landowners for safety from Cherkess and Tatar invasions into their own territory, modern day North Ossetia. South Ossetia's history is 100% Georgian, not Ossetian. This is why both breakaway states, both are occupied by foreign migrants living on historic Georgian land who later committed ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Georgian inhabitants.
Also, the Scythian-Alan-Ossetians came from the north around the Caspian Sea, not directly from Iran as shown here.

Demavand in the Elburz range in Iran (three hundred miles away) is the same height as Mt.
