- in this video I give a little insite on how I tackle an emergency call out , this is one of the easier emergency call out but I hope you still enjoy the video. Thank you for watching.
Great job pal, only thing I would suggest (of course with the customer agreeing the cost) is kite stamped replacement barrels.
They are anti-pick and snap and apparently hold against the new burning technique too.
Hope you don’t mind a suggestion
Keep the content comign
Thanks mate I appreciate any suggestions I normally just change barrels like for like, but I will suggest if they do want to have the kite stamped replacement instead
@@ttdowgcarpentry2390 To be honest, no kite or EU mark in most instances no insurance
Yes.... British standard 3621 it's insurance approved
Most 4trade cylinders are 3star rated. Meaning they’re hard to break into and most burglars know their cylinders. So when you have a decent cylinder on your front door burglars are less likely to bother you.
Just been on a 2 day locksmithing course and we was told anti-pick and anti-snap are just sales gimics. The trainer said he can pick any lock if he has enough time and the right tools.
Also he recommended ABS locks as they have multiple security points and not made of cheap metal. Oh and never leave your keys in your door or if your in a house never have a thumbturn. So easy to bypass with the right tools. Learning locksmithing makes me want to build a 20ft high wall around my house 😂
Your next video should be doing a cool build of shelves in the van if you have the space for it. Love the videos though geyser always a pleasure watching them 😀
Awesome! Easy job if you know how!
Not so much if you don’t! Especially like the inside one where there were a few issues and you needed that special breaker tool!
Guess it’s the same as anything though, once you’ve done a few and it’s same old same old 👍🏻
very true thankyou mate
Small tip, Sometimes you can get a rounded off screw out if you knock a Phillips In with a hammer and hammer it while turning. The shock of hitting the screw loosens it a little
Never tried it this way thankyou
Easy said till it slips and damages what you’re working on🤣
@@harrypne6515 won't slip if you're using the correct screwdriver, it actually helps the screwdriver fit into a stripped screw if it is rounded off
@@gixxer7907 just drill it out and put new screw in lol
@@Happy-mh8xq yeah but I'd rather try knocking a screwdriver in first quicker than drilling head off bolt
brilliant 👏 video keep it up!
Thankyou mate really appreciate it
Recently found your channel great content keep it up mate 👌🏻
Thanks mate really appreciate the support
i really dont understand why all the locks ever have these philipshead crappy screws, nice to see that cylinder puller, self made or commercial? good to see some regular little jobs done in the carpenter life, enjoy your videos
thanks mate I really appreciate. yes I don't get why either most I come across are rounded . the pull bar is commercial . I got it from a lock smithing course I done but you can also get them of amazon amzn.to/3ADStQ8
@@ttdowgcarpentry2390 thank you for the in depth reply, I don't do locks too often but either the screws are rusted and break out or are already stripped because of the philips head. Will be looking into lock smithing courses. Thanks and have a good week :)
@@Rompestromper yeah I run into this problem a lot , thank you you too
@@ttdowgcarpentry2390 what course was that? Im very familiar with the areas you work in so would be nice if its near us
Risky game you are playing with the screw box 😂😂😂
Nice job 👍👍👍👍

Are you going to rack your van out, as that would make a great video
Can see your new to the game g 😂 love your stuff tho still your apprentice is on job 24! 🤣
😂😭 I done a two day lock smiting course 😪 I agree I'm a newborn to lock smithing also thankyou for the kind words my apprentice appreciate it
the best thing you could invest in would be a screw extraction kit, thank me afterwards
How much did you earn to do that job? Just curious!
I like your vids how much did you charge
£70
nice job
Thankyou
I’ve watch most of your videos and I find them really good. I would say a carpenter trying to do locksmithing is a bit like a handyman calling himself a carpenter.
Hi RB. Most of the best locksmiths I have met . Are carpenters or joiner’s. Because a carpenter can do a locksmiths job, but a locksmith can’t do a carpenters job. Also take a look at are history in locksmithing . Joseph Bramah Who saw the weakness in cylinder locks 200 years ago was a joiner…
@@paulkeenan6430 a carpenter can’t do most locksmith jobs. My dad was a carpenter for 45 years and certainly couldn’t open locks, cut keys or change mechanisms. I agree a lot of locksmiths start as carpenters but fitting locks (the part a carpenter can do) is a tiny percentage of what a locksmith does. A handyman can probably do a half decent job of putting skirting down or fitting a door. Could they do it as well as a trained carpenter, probably not.

@@rb7043 , evening RB. And thanks for your reply. Like I said to you before. If you look at are history. Most of the famous locksmiths weren’t locksmiths.. and that’s still the case today…. Why because there’s no licensing. There’s no apprenticeships in locksmithing or safe engineering in the UK. All there is is the MLA. And that’s just a bit of a boys club….
Also in the world of carpentry and joinery.. it crosses over into other trades. Like glazing. Locksmithing. Dry lining. I know you said you dad was a carpenter for 40 years and could not open locks…. That did not mean he was a bad carpenter…. I have been doing joinery for 27 years and haven’t done much roofing. But do know how to pick locks….
have you got a link for the lock puller
How come the customer didn't call the locksmith to fix it?
Just use a normal screwdrivers to sort out these type of jobs, it's taboo to use a powerful impact driver on such delicate screw heads,I thought you being a carpenter would know that, the impact driver will strip the screw heads, and never use a impact to hang a door, use just a combi drill..much better, and you got better control 😉
The new locks are poor as pointed out get a anti-bump and decent brand cost a bit more but worth it for peace of mind
Hasn't even got a proper toolbag ironmongary bought lock bet he charged a fortune
No he didnt
