What a wonderful concert so far. I had not heard of Ms. Swenson nor Mr. Devlin: both very talented. A pleasure to hear and see them. Of course Maestro Domingo was in fine form, adorable in his all white outfit.
Swenson should have been more famous! She's truly a delight and lovely musicality/voice~! Great concert, thank you for sharing :)
She was phenomenal in her early days. But the voice and technique faded quickly. I loved her in SF (first encounter as Inez in L'Africaine, where she shone as brightly as Domingo and Verrett). But her Ophelie in Hamlet a few years later was well sung, but dull. She had quite a few leading roles at the Met - including Manon and Zerbinetta. IMHO her broadcast of Zerbinetta was already showing signs of laziness. And we walked out of one of her Met Manons after St Sulpice because she failed to arouse any sense of character or passion.

Wonder if Pavarotti ever did any of these SF outdoor concerts….maybe he did and there just not available on UA-cam. No doubt he was used to them by then.

Swenson wasnt famous??? News to me.
A considerable number of both female and male fans in San Francisco would go to great lengths to be near Mr. Domingo. However, in a notable move, the San Francisco Opera House was among the first institutions to sever ties with him in 2019. This situation reflects a profound level of hypocrisy. I am so happy that his upcoming performances in Europe are sold out. I will be there.
