Haydn himself must have used that same motif about a dozen times. You'll find it in many compositions by other composers of the classical period. It's just four notes: it's what the composer does with those four notes that matters.
Just to clarify for everyone, the *do-re-fa-mi* - or slight variant - is an old, commonplace motif used several times by both Mozart and Haydn - neither of whom got it from the other - but both who decided to use it because it offers so many possibilities for development; it is occasionally used with a slight variant. *Mozart* Symphony 1 (K16), second movement Symphony (KAhn 214 45b) Symphony 33 (K319), first movement Symphony 41 (K551) Finale Mass (K192). *Haydn* Symphony 3 Finale Symphony 11 second movement Symphony 13 Finale Symphony 25 third movement.
Excellent performance of this early symphony.
Gradevole sinfonia che ( a me sembra) lascia il barocco . Secondo movimento struggente, una bella aria operistica.
L’esecuzione mi sembra ottima.
GREAT PERFORMANCE.....U CAN HEAR HIS TALENT GROWING IN THIS EARLY MASTERPIECE....
For heaven's sake, please identify the performers!
1001 reasons not to put the camera where it is. The lovely old work survives it all though.
...the sound take is good though...
@@adamsmith275 Yep, agreed, but all those people wandering about with shopping is a distraction.

So is it here where Mozart's motive do-re-fa-mi comes from?

@@thomaskendall452 In fact both composers made the same thing with those four notes.
