+stiven rofael Don't eat bullshit, eat clean foods rich in healthy fats, and proteins that will give you results such as: Peanut butter, whole milk (if you are a teenager, whole milk can be detrimental to full grown adults), chicken, pasta, rice, eggs, salmon, oats, eat alot of foods like this. For example, breakfast: 12 oz glass of milk, two peanut butter and jelly sandwich with high calory bread. Lunch: Chicken, rice broccoli, Dinner: Pasta, tomato sauce and beef. Most of us need around 3000-3500 kcal to lean bulk, don't listen to these bros saying you need to eat 10 times per day. Eat 3 full meals per day, and two snacks in between, one between breakfast and lunch, one between lunch and dinner (for example, greek yoghurt and a handful of granola)

Obviously I don't know you, but every single skinny guy that thinks he eats a lot that I've ever met definitely does not eat a lot. A big red flag is when they say things like 'I eat all the time.' or something similar. Small amounts of food all the time just don't necessarily add up to a lot of calories even if the food is garbage. I'm only 175 pounds and I'm fighting fat gain constantly. A typical day for me (as in every day, not some day I remember in the past) I will go to McDonalds, get two big macs, large order of fries, and ice cream and eat all of it. Within an hour I will be fighting the temptation to eat a bowl of cereal. Say I have the cereal. Within another hour I will be fighting the temptation to down 700 calories of sweet tarts. I'll probably fail to resist. An hour or two after that and I'll be wanting to go to McDonalds again. I am only a 175 pound male that puts on fat easily. For a 220 pound male there will be even more food. The skinny guy (in my experience) just doesn't understand how much those of us who easily gain weight are actually consuming (or fighting not to consume) on an every day basis. You'll stop being a 'skinny cunt' when every two hours when you're eating your own entire sasuage and pizza several times a day rather than finishing your friends.

You could not be more right. I remember thinking that I had a fast metabolism and a huge appetite when I was really skinny. Turns out, I was overestimating how many calories I was actually eating. I was eating like 1,700 calories thinking it was double that. Nowadays, I DO eat double that (3,500) when I'm bulking and guess what? I'M GAINING WEIGHT.

I've been told ever since I was little that I had a fast matabalism. For most parents, if your kid is skinny but eats dinner than they have a fast matabalism. So I simply believed it.
But recently I started counting calories to legitimately go for gains. The first day I set up my app to keep track of my food. I ate what I normally would, and by night I was a full meal behind what I needed. I basically force fed myself that, it made me want to barf. And then I noticed on the app that I had forgotten to tell it that I want to gain weight...
I struggled to eat MAINTENANCE CALORIES. I never had a fast matabalism. I just didn't eat food.

This is so true. I was a skinny guy, 175cm and weigh 56kg. I thought I had a fast metabolism, because at that time I feel like I eat a ton and couldn't gain weight.
Then I started training and tracking my calories. Turns out I wasn't eating enough foods, my daily intake was only around 1500 calories on average, probably around 2000 calories at most. Bumped it up to 3000 calories, I gained almost 7kg the first month of my training. After 6 months of training I went from 56kg to 74kg on a 3000 calories diet.

I come from a family with a lot of heavy people. The two outliers are a pair of skinny cousins of mine who claim to eat "sooo much" without being able to gain weight or muscle mass.
I remember being in a lunch buffet with them a few months ago. We had all been busy and we hadn't even eaten a single real meal that day.
Me, being a recent fitness enthusiast who counts calories, started with a plate of shrimp, two eggs, and green vegetables from the Mongolian grill. Not all that different than what I'd be eating on any day while on a cut. I estimate about 500-600 calories max on that plate. If the normal guy ate that 3 times a day and nothing else, he would STARVE.
Yet one of my skinny cousins jaws dropped at the supposedly massive amount of food I'd gathered. The other one came back to a table with a plate that was mostly empty white space with maybe a few scattered bites of actual food.
Being a "hardgainer" is mostly just under eating.

Scientists Say They May Have Found A Skinny Gene
      May 21, 2020 at 3:10 pmFiled Under:genetics, Obesity
(CNN) - We all know the type. They can eat all they want, spend zero time at the gym and don’t put on an ounce.
Now, according to new preliminary research published Thursday in the journal Cell, scientists may have discovered the gene that helps these super-skinny individuals stay so slim, potentially opening up a new frontier in treatments to tackle obesity.
An international team of scientists said they have identified a genetic variant unique to thin individuals in what’s known as the ALK gene. The ALK gene makes a protein called anaplastic lymphoma kinase, which is involved in cell growth.
Download The All-New CBS Sacramento News App
They pinpointed the variant after looking at DNA samples and clinical data of more than 47,000 healthy people in Estonia between the ages of 20 and 44.
“The Estonia biobank is very unique in its detail,” said senior author Josef Penninger, a professor in the department of medical genetics and the director of the Life Sciences Institute at the University of British Columbia.
“We looked at the genetic maps of people with a BMI [body mass index] below 18 and compared them with those of people of normal weight and found the [genetic variant] that correlated with being super skinny,” Penninger said.
The team then examined how the ALK gene functions in mice and flies.
Stephen O’Rahilly, professor and head of the department of clinical biochemistry and the director of the metabolic diseases unit at the University of Cambridge, said the research was “not definitive” but “very interesting.”
O’Rahilly, who wasn’t involved in the study, added that “it certainly increases interest in ALK7 inhibition as a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of obesity.”
      Thinner flies and mice
Scientists already know that a mutated form of the ALK gene and protein can drive the development of cancer tumors, the study said. Mutated forms of the gene and protein have been found in non-small cell lung cancer, anaplastic large cell lymphoma and neuroblastoma, a brain cancer.
This new finding suggested a different mutation of the gene may play a role in thinness and resistance to gaining weight. To test this, the scientists conducted experiments on flies and mice and found that deleting this gene resulted in thinner versions of those flies and mice.
“We gave the mice (what amounted to) a McDonald’s diet. The normal mice got obese and the ones without ALK remained skinny,” Penninger said.
The team’s mouse studies also suggested that the ALK gene instructs fat tissues to burn more fat from food.
O’Rahilly described the animal studies as “well done” but noted that the genetic variation that was associated with lower body mass index in the Estonia biobank was “modest” and not as robust as many experts in the field would accept as “definitive.”
However, he said that previous studies in much larger populations have shown a suggestive, but not strong, signal of an association with body weight in that area of the genome, and it was unlikely that the variation would be unique to Estonians.
Penninger said that treatments targeting the gene might help scientists fight obesity in the future.
“If you think about it, it’s realistic that we could shut down ALK and reduce ALK function to see if we did stay skinny,” Penninger said.
“ALK inhibitors are used in cancer treatments already. It’s targetable. We could possibly inhibit ALK, and we actually will try to do this in the future.”Scientists Say They May Have Found A Skinny Gene

Sorry to burst your bubbly by I have lived in the house with people who ate like food was going out of style and they were not physically active. They had huge appetites and stuffed themselves to the outer limits. There are people with fast metabolisms. People who say there is nobody who is really skinny with a fast metabolism anywhere on the freaking planet are usually people with limited life experience. My nickname was greedy hog and greedy pig and I was a five feet four 100 pound woman. I would eat one big meal and could not wait to get hungry again so I can eat the next meal. When I hit my mid twenties my metabolism slowed. Now I am an old, middle age broad trying to lose weight. Also when I was younger I would sometimes try to eat halfway healthy for health sake and exercise a little but even when I would fall off the wagon because not because I did not care but would just get weak and give in too temptation and get lazy about exercise I still stayed 100 pounds.

If we know that GOMAD works, how can you say you have a fast metabolism? Clearly, it's your appetite that's the problem! If you're a teenager, this problem is even worse. If you really were a hungry beast, you'd be eating full course meals every 1-2 hours. Gaining weight would be easy, so easy that you might even get fat! It seems like skinny guys have the complete opposite issue of what they think. They don't eat a lot, they eat too little!

Can I add something? I learned in Physiology class that the bigger the muscle you have the faster metabolism is and vise versa. Also if you are a tall person who thinks they eat a lot are probably not eating the sufficient amount of calories. Lastly, thyroid disorder could be a sign of high metabolism~ Thanks for a informative video it was helpful and brought me new insights.

This video is 100% true. Skinny guys who claim they can’t gain weight or “have a fast metabolism” say that they eat anything they want, the truth is that they eat stuff like junk food but they are never able to finish it and only eat a small amount while skipping normal meals.

Very true man, I'm guilty of it too. I only met the bare minimum of cals to sustain myself and my body was satisfied with that and I wanted to eat more but wasn't hungry. I weight 130lbs at 5'10". I'm trying the 8/16 hour fasting method and eat 2 huge meals and a big snack meeting my 2700 cal goal per day. Gained 11lbs both muscle mass and fat so far in 2 months.
Just track your nutrition intake, also vitamins are very important for growth!!!

@Aman Bhardwaj I’m 69kg rn. The most I’ve ever weighed was over 160lbs (73-74kg) but dropped back down to be more lean. I didn’t like the extra weight and maintenance to keep it up. I got a good balance now.
Don’t force yourself do what’s comfortable for you. When you routinely eat, even small meals every 2 hours you get hungrier.

This video just flipped a switch in my mind, man. I'm about 5'11, barely 130 pounds and I've been on a weight-gaining journey on-and-off for about two years now - no progress.
I started religiously tracking every piece of food that I ate at the end of January. Been hitting 3000kcal pretty consistently since then, sometimes even 4000kcal - still no progress.
Then this man hits me with the "5000+ calories" and I realized what I've been doing wrong. I'll bump up those numbers from now on. Thank you, Sir!

I thought the same till i actually started eating and went from 128 lbs to 162 in 7 months, while staying at the same height. I was also noticeably below 10% bodyfat and now im at 10%, or slightly higher. But then we show up to dinner, I’m eating second helpings, and then coming back for something to munch on two hours later. Meanwhile they’re holding their belly after 1 serving talking about how stuffed they are from eating so much food.
Had to lose weight of course and now I’m a solid 185lbs with abs after lifting and dieting and bulking and all that. They’re still lanklets... good guys though

Dude you're a really big help to a lot of people and I hope you gain more Subscribers but I am a skinny guy I way about 58kg and I eat a lot,. Most of my money is spent on food because I can eat 8 large pizzas in a sitting and still be hungry. Having a clinically diagnosed fast metabolism is a thing I spend most of my time hungry and it is a problem. I eat roughly 5-8 large meals a day and can still stay hungry. I try to gain weight all the time but it's extremely difficult because I actually have a fast metabolism as in it's the real deal like if I eat the recommended 2000 calories a day for an adult and go exercising there is a high chance I'll pass out.
However your video did help me a little which is great but don't just state that having a fast metabolism and being skinny isn't a thing because it really is.

Hi! So i'm 14 years old, about 5'9 and a half and about 60kg (132lbs). I'm pretty skinny, on the line of healthy weight and light undeweight and i've been wondering if i eat too little. This is what i usually eat on a school day.
Breakfast: A kinda big bowl of porridge, 2 slices of bread with butter, a glass of milk and a cup of coffee.
In school: 2-3 potatoes and about 6 meatballs (depends on what we have in school), 1/4 plate of salad, a glass of milk and water.
After school: a bowl of cereal, 1-2 cups of coffee, and some bread.
Dinner: again depends on what we have but usually a full plate of pasta or 3 potatoes, pork or fish, and a 1/4 or 1/2 plate of salad, A big glass of milk or 2.
Before i go to sleep: A bowl of porridge, bread, glass of milk.
Then somethings throughout the day: ice cream, candy, soda, 1-6 cups of coffee, bread
Is this less than what most of you guys eat? I really try to eat a normal amount but i'm not sure if i am eating way too little. How much should i eat more and could the fact that i'm still growing affect my weight? Also does smoking or snus affect me?

Its like you said 6 plates and not even 2 hours later i am hungry again. More like half an hour later i am hungry again. So why do i do not have a fast metabolism? Also i´m eating mostly healthy. I can slightly gain weight if I take weight gainer plus my normal 3000kcal (average). But in two days without weigth gainer i am back to my normal weight.

MCLERA You're comparing yourself to *average* adults idiot. "Average" does not mean it applies to most people. An average guy can bench press 135 lbs. Does that mean most guys can bench press 135? No. There are so many guys who can't bench that. If a guy can bench press 150 lbs. would you say he's strong? No one considers that to be strong. Caloric intake among adults can range from 2k to 3k because there are many factors that determine how many calories your body needs. If someone eats 2,500 calories but you eat 3k, that does not mean you eat "a lot" because 500 calories is not that big of a difference. If you eat about 5k calories, then that's a lot more than what most people eat.

my problem is I don't have an appetite. it sucks I lift and I'm strong and people say I look big and stuff but I always just feel too skinny I look at myself (particularly my chest because I have trouble putting mass on there) and I think I'm too skinny and that's the only thing that motivates me to eat more. I'm about 5'8" and about 155-160 pounds with a relatively small frame 30 inch waist but wide back which is probably why I look big to most people even when I'm clothed. is there anything I can do or eat to help my appetite should I eat junk food after my healthy meals? and about my chest my dad said he had the same problem when he was young so maybe it's genetic how do I put mass on my chest and upper chest area? I just don't feel comfortable in my own skin I need more mass it just feels better to have the extra mass on my body

This video is so spot on. If you want to eat like a beast then every single day make up a dish of food that's suited for 4 people. My choice was rice and beans when I was doing it. Every day for a month I'd eat until I felt sick, waited 10 minutes and then ate more till I felt sick, rinse and repeat until I ate the lot (1.5 hrs~ average). This DOES work, the method that people who do eating competitions is somewhat the same but easier: drink water until you feel sick, wait, repeat.
The aim is to stretch your stomach. It will work no problem and you'll shock yourself at the amount of food you'll be able to eat. It helps out with bulking if you're low in calories for the day and need to cram it in. You'll find when you do this you'll also get hungrier faster too but it completely eliminates the worry about feeling full from big meals which is a plus. Also a good way to go nuts eating nutrient rich but low calorie foods.

Im 14 and i eat 3 eggs, 4 bread slices with ham, butter and cheese for breakfast after school i eat 2 bouls of soup and 2 plates of usually some meat and rice. I eat some fruit in mid Day and for dinner i eat like 8 toasts with cheese, ham and butter. I wonder how many calories that is. And im not really skinny i have a semideveloped eight pack and decent arms and legs (not chicken) i sometime even eat more..i do think i have a fast metabolism cuz i also eat lots of sweat and i still maintain that eight pack. Tell me what you think. Do i have a fast metabolism?

During my freshman year I would eat around 4k calories, was there anything wrong with that? I'm a senior now and I am much smaller than I was in 9th grade, in terms of muscle.

I'm 16. 5'4 and weigh around 117 pounds. I eat a ton of food but gain nothing. I also do intense dumbell curling every other day. I cant seem to do proper pushups as I end up shaking like a damn pathetic weakling. I need a workout that will help me gain muscle and prepare me to do chest workouts.**I eat more than double the amount of calories I need everyday. Sometimes I eat as much as my dad or even more than him and he is kinda obese so yeah I DO eat more than what I am supposed to due to my fast metabolism. Do you have any idea how it feels to be called a stick or scrawny at high school??? Or to look physically unattractive towards others??My self esteem is hella low

I feel like this is false to some degree. Not everyone has the same metabolic rate. It's also dependant on the digestive bacteria you contain. I have been approximately the same weight; 145lbs. I'm 6 feet even, and I've casually kept that weight since I was 17. I'm 27 and I still weigh 145lbs. I tend to consume more calorically dense foods. If that isn't fast metabolism, I don't know what you call it

Is it possible to have a “large appetite” or fast metabolism, while still having fat around the belly or have “love handles”?
Because I am generally hungry all day long and can eat a lot while still getting hungry in an hour or two, but I choose not to because I want to lose weight. I don’t gain any weight if I eat a lot, but I don’t like the weight I’m at

So your burning the calories and not in an actualy surplus. Meaning 1. at 9% bf your either a near 300lb steroid user, 2. You work an extremely physicaly 12 hour a day job, 3. your not actually eating 4000 calories, or 4. (least likely) you actually are a genetic 5% outlier.

Sooooooo. He's not lying because I've had my doctor track my meal plan because I'm 145 and benching about 275 I can get to about 155 before my weight flatlines now cause I'm in the military every once in a while I have to stop going to the gym or maybe for about 2 or 3 days I have to eat around 2000 normal per say and that's probably why he's loosing weight so it is true if you can't be consistent like you said but just because you don't have a big appetite doesn't mean you don't have a fast metabolism I do have to agree with you for the fact that if you maintain it might take longer then most but you can get bigger

You're a fucking idiot. 12 meals a day spoken as if we don't sleep. I'm just gonna leave that there. My guy, I can speak from experience about this shit. I eat entire pizzas and then perhaps a sandwich for lunch on occasion, I lift just like Alpha but I'm 6'1 and 210. Eating this much is normal for a beast like him, or a bigger guy like me (per say, if I'm not a beast). Tracking my calories, I'm often going into the higher 3k to 4k areas. Don't be an idiot just because you're a Beta pitted against an Alpha.

I ate double what my Dad eat and he was 230lb and i was 130-120 not active and always complaning about being hungry and angry if i didn't eat enought in one meal i was hungry in 2hr.... and then i started having 4 meals and napping everyday when i was actualy active.20 inch or 18inch pizza in one sitting half is eaten in under 5mins with ease. Is my Metabolism fast or not.

I eat about 7-9 meals a day, I'm not very good at eating breakfast (shortage of time) but with every meal I eat huge amounts of food. I eat five times more than anyone of my classmates. I don't diet, I don't drink or smoke, and I have a great metabolism.
Ibasically never hold back when eating. I'm like a black hole, all the food I eat disappears, and I'm hungry all the time.
    I train 5-6 times a week, equaling about 8.5-10 hours a week...
Great video, I have many skinny friends, who can't seem to build muscle.

I have a question then, so I'm a skinny guy right, and I eat just as much as most my friends, maybe a little more, but they do sports and they still have more fat then me and weigh more, even my friend that's about an inch or 2 shorter than me weighs more them me by about 10 pounds, and it's obvious that it's in fat bc u can tell I'm more bonier then him but I can still lift more, I'm faster, and have more endurance, I work out from time to time but he does wrestling at school and never eats breakfast, almost always skips lunch, and just eats dinner

Hey, just a quick question. Will this program give me a good physique and functional strength? And how far can this simple routine take me?
    3 days a week on non-consecutive days
    Weighted Chins(underhand grip) 3 x 5-10 (current stats are 180bw + 65lbs for 5 reps)
Military Press 3 x 5-10 (current stats are 60lbs dumbbells for 10 reps but am switching to barbell)
    Barbell Rows 3 x 5-10 (current stats are 160lbs for 10)
    Dumbbell Bench Press 3 x 5-10 (current stats are 85's for 10)
Front Squats 3 x 5-10 (current stats, and im being serious, is 110lbs for 3 reps. Long legs with pisspoor mobility and never trained them because of it crew checking in)
    (Deadlift 1 x 5 warmup, 1 x 3 workset once or twice a week) (current stats are 270 for 1 rep)
Wich numbers should i shoot for? If you could give me a strength standard that is reasonable:D
I want to have a healthy body that wont crumble when i reach mid 40's. Thanks Alex, damn dude, your subs are really coming along!:D

    • @AlexLeonidas
      @AlexLeonidas  8 років тому

+herr kurt Yes it actually will. However, you mentioned that you can only deadlift 270 for a 1RM. This renders this program inappropriate for your current level. So are the front squats.
My advice is to run my novice program because this routine will slow down gains.

I’ve been saying this for ages to people! Appetite is subjective! Some people’s ‘a lot of food’ is completely different calorie/volume wise to someone else’s ‘a lot of food’! I could eat someone’s large meal for a starter most of the time!

  • @monsterbulgaria
    @monsterbulgaria 6 років тому

Doesn't fast metabolism mean that most of the processes in your body are sped up which includes protein absorption(that comes from the anabolism(part of the metabolism)) which should in fact actually speed up the process of gaining muscle not making it impossible or even making your body "eat" the muscle it has.
