I do think you can do Seashells in under 90 minutes! You’re faster than me and it took me 1:24. I wouldn’t build on the poster if the dimensions aren’t the same. You could use the box top and then refer to the quadrant of the poster that isn’t fully visible on the box. Good luck at Worlds! So looking forward to seeing what you and Janette get up to!
That's a great time for Seashells! It just looks so tricky to me. I did it with Alison as pairs - I'll have to go look up that time. I don't have the boxes with me as I brought these back from Canada - but using the box at worlds would be best. Janette and I are going to be such silly monkeys!!!

Good for you for working on the puzzles that might be there. It wouldn't surprise me if Elspeth McLean's mandala artwork puzzles are used. They are amazing, daunting, but not as hard as they look. You did great on both puzzles. Lighting and seeing (with your readers) was a breakthrough for you. Keep working on calming yourself as you get closer to Spain. You'll do fine and the most important thing is to have fun while you are there. Looking forward to your next installment of practice for Spain. Don't forget your glasses. 🤩
I honestly did not expect to do as well on those two Elspeth McLean puzzles which is why I had them in this video. I also think some of their mandala artwork will make an appearance at Worlds. I bought a second pair of readers just to make sure I had a backup for Spain. They make a huge difference in how well I can puzzle. It's going to be so much fun!!!
I haven't been brave enough to buy the "Happy Beads" puzzle yet. You are so great with puzzles with lots of detail. I found "Mandala Blooms" to be very easy, and one of my best times for a 500 piece puzzle. I have also entered the horrible age where my eyes don't focus well either. I wished that competitions had a "senior" category since I feel like this is a major disadvantage.
I honestly thought Mandala Bloom would have been more difficult and that's because the first go I had at it with Alison, I barely put in 1/4 of the pieces. It was also like our 4th puzzle of the day and I was tired. I have mentioned it to a few organisers that it would be nice to have an A and B category at competitions, maybe even a C group - A when you are a sub 1hr puzzler, B when you are sub 2hrs and then everyone else in C. That would be kind of nice. I sometimes feel like a featherweight in a heavyweight division!
@@fortheloveofpuzzles Ohhhh! I like this idea of different divisions! Speed puzzling is growing so much globally and other sports do have different tiers based on skill/competetiveness/eliteness etc.

You're doing fine DonnaLouise, the times you have done are good. I wouldn't waste time trying to predict what you may or may not get at Worlds. Enjoy yourself at Worlds and just do the best you can. I shall be glued to my computer watching and trying to spot familiar faces from UA-cam.
Rabbit Recital is a new one from Demelsa Haughton - lovely but does look quite tricky. Hopefully if it's at worlds, it would be Pairs and not individuals. I can't wait! I know I will have so much fun and you all will have so much fun watching
Thank you! It is a very difficult puzzle so I am very pleased with my time. A friend just did it and we are usually very close in time but she also had trouble and took over 2 hours to finish.
I wanted to share that Ravensburger puzzle pieces always perfectly line up on the corners of each piece when joined. There is never even a sliver of imperfection. I've noticed that when I have a false fit, it's because I reached out an arm's length to attach a piece and wasn't right over the pieces to ensure perfection. Now, when I reach out, I stop and get my eyes right over it, and catch my errors early.
That's probably why I stand up the entire time that I am speed puzzling, to make sure that I can see perfectly top down. This one piece though looked like it fit perfectly. I was so frustrated! I definitely need to pay more attention.
You’ve gotten really good at speed puzzling! Congrats. I’m building a 3000 piece and the image is similar to the second puzzle with the stone bridge. It’s quite difficult because of that canvas finish. I’m far sighted as well and wear contacts. I’ve just started needing reading glasses and it’s so unsettling. I prefer sometimes to wear my normal glasses and just remove them when I want to puzzle or cross stitch.
The optometrist wanted me to get bifocals and I was like NOPE! not yet hehehehe trying to hold onto my youth. But the reading glasses are working really well. Canvas finish - that's a nice way to explain such an image.
Elspeth McLean does some amazing work - so detailed. She actually lives in my neck of the woods, although she is originally Australian.
