A true songsmith, his honesty is his trademark.. truly doesnt give a fuck! his melody selection is otherworldy, it has shades of Syd Barrett and some Beatles secret melody genius...but it becomes all his own.. I wish more people recognized his genius, but it feels good to know that it's sacred and hidden... I can't sum up how important it is to me... thank you for sharing this.
Came to "Under wartime conditions“ by accident in 1986, the LP, later on I've been recommended about the cassette publishing. I do loooove this album still up to today. Timeless and shimmering colourful like a hidden pearl in the wide ocean of pop music! ;-D - Must see the documentary about Martin Newell I heard of today...
I just found out about CFV from a rollerblading film of all things, lol. Great stuff, the album I've listened to so far is very reminiscent of Guided by Voices but CFV seems to have been around longer. How bizarre, two people making incredibly similar 4 track music but I doubt either was aware of the other due to geography and lack of internet. Really cool.
Old sailor searching for pops gems that shine like distant lighthouses through thick fog. The sky like a broken ocean fell like lofi ribbons in the rain
Music x Morals hopefully once “normality” resumes he will begin performing live in some capacity. Until then he does a podcast called the Oddcaste. It is worth checking out.
I'd love a set list if anybody has the time/knowledge! My only exposure to CFV is Jangling Man and I'd love to give these tracks a proper listen. Cheers
