Arguably they do Chicago better than Chicago.
Maybe better than today's Chicago. And I'd like to think if the original Chicago had the technological advantages of today, that their recordings would have been a lot better, although they were fantastic for their time. I do think L&F's enthusiasm supercharges everything they do.
Had the same discussion with some friends about the difference in technology today versus back then and that’s why you could say Leonid is better than Chicago.

I did a little research and found that Igor Butman has a Jazz Club in Moscow and L&F played there in 2018.

With regard to Leonid and Friends, I have posted on one of their videos that "There's this band from Chicago who does versions of these songs, just not as well." I first saw Chicago in 1972, so I'm not some person who's just discovered the music. Leonid's band takes these songs to new heights. Just amazing.

Great reaction Jeff! "Free" - An absolute perfect blend of rockin' guitars, horns, drums and vocals...with a li'l saxy at the end. Although this song may not have been one of their greatest hits, from start to finish... it's a rocker! 🤘 (It's been known to cause a fair amount of intense cranial bobbing.) Lead singer Vasily (Vah-SILL-lee) adds the perfect amount of gravel while the other guys are busy jamming. And Mr. Butman definitely puts the cherry on top of this gritty piece of sonic delight! 👍 As a DJ in the early 70's this song was in heavy rotation on my show. It definitely brings back the spring of '71! 🙂
L&F's must have been in the construction biz before they took up music... cuz they absolutely NAIL everything they do! 💯

Yes, they do this song live and like all they do, it was amazing! Igor does an amazing drum solo with it! If you like this song, you might lose your mind when you get to I'm a Man! I think you've pretty much covered all of Vasily's lead songs. Now you have to do more of Serge! I've Been Searching So Long is soooooo good!

"Free" is possibly my favorite song from Chicago's third album. But if it was already a powerful song on the album, L&F make it really wild, with that aggressive solo from Butman. As all of Leonid's additions to the Chicago arrangements, the solo seems as Chicago as anything Chicago. Regarding Igor, the drummer, I don't have any more words for him. Wow!! Thanks Jeff for your analysis.
We are waiting for a reaction to Speck of Dust
They have done it live at many of their concerts, but not so much over the last year or so. Regardless, they're always incredible live (I've seen them upwards of 25 times or so, while helping with their merch sales).

I've seen them in concert three times and they have not played this song at any of them.
