Old timer here apprentice trained Army tutor - primer undercoat and gloss guy! The 'perfect' paint back in the day was an oil based paint called Permaglaze. It was a good all rounder top coat and covered over most substrates including plastic down pipes and guttering. Probably UPVC windows too but this was before they were common in the late 70's early 80's.

I've just sprayed the cupboards in our Utility, using Bradite One Can, slate grey, with the Graco quick shot, was my first time using the Graco, but I've rolled the paint before. Really chuffed with the outcome, 8/10 I'd say, as I did have some newbie issues, I should have thinned the paint, reduced the pressure from 5 to 3, and made sure the pot on the sprayer was topped up. Not sure about using the belt either, as I couldn't keep the sprayer level on my hip. Misses is well chuffed though. Cheers Phil.
Great video Phil. Bradite mixed in colours has much better opacity and will usually cover in two coats. Off the shelf Bradite in white notoriously is a weak finish. 😊
Phil, I used this straight over bare MDF. As you say opacity is not the best, but I found it didn’t lift the fibres as much as other MDF specific paints. It’s tough as well which makes rubbing down between coats a bit harder. Definitely goes over itself much better, I got an excellent finish after three coats using a brush and roller. Ive found it to be a very durable and robust paint 👍
Good review. Like you mention going over existing whites should be fine. most are saying fine with colours. I’ll put on my list for trying it out. Cheers Phil.
I was excited about this product. I followed your positive review with an excellent one from decorators forum. I was thinking wel lthis is the paint for me. Then in the comments following the decorators forum review someone mentioned its poor durability. I was a bit miffed. Can you comment on that please Phil. Thanks
Good timing on the blisters on hardwoods front. It’s baffling me on a job at the minute. Used water based Allcoat in black on hardwood French doors and 8 weeks later there’s little blisters everywhere! Going back next week to try and rectify. What is your go to explanation Phil and I did say aluminium when I went back to look at it, would you say to give that a go too? Cheers mate
Hi Phil thanks for the review. I have tidy up a rental property I own that was last painted 5 years ago. Would this product look ok after 1 coat over previously glossed woodwork? 100% perfection not needed. Many thanks.🙏
Used it a couple of weeks ago on old oil based gloss, I give it a quick once over with a red scourer to give it a key etc...first coat was a little grinny but bleached out a little when dry, second one cover fine, nice finish especially on oldish woodwork Opacity isn't great great, but thats the trade off with adhesion paints. You cant have adhesion AND opacity. Good gear, and cheaper than Bedec by a couple of quid It could mean the difference between two coats and three though ....maybe the matt covers a bit better🤔
If anyones having issues with the opacity of the white I recommend getting your retailer /merchant to add some white colourant from their tinting machine makes it much better also remember it’s a complete system in a single can so expect 3 coats minimum .
Earlier this year I used the Bradite onecan to paint the local bell frame, I'll share a video before and afterwards: ua-cam.com/video/3hbvHiAOfI0/v-deo.html - before ua-cam.com/video/WS1vcZVi9yI/v-deo.html - after Some parts of the frame showed signs of rust (on the advice of Bradite) I used iron Oxide/Zinc phosphate to cover these first (bright red in colour) It then took two coats to cover, in my opinion very well; I did note from a decorators forum that the white didn't have the opacity that you get when tinted to another colour (in this case Ral 6027). It took 6.5 weeks to paint the whole frame, headstocks and other bits and bobs, mind you it was 117 steps up to the belfry every morning and afternoon. Loving the channel, keep up the good work!
To date, the paint is still as good as when I finished it. I'll keep an eye on it over the years to see how it lasts, obviously the belfry is not heated, but is protected from the weather.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I have, although I've never seen a back to back comparison. The main problem with the Ultra is that the motor does not last very long.
why would they not want to talk thats one of the bloody points of them going to these shows isn't it bet they got a bollocking from head office the next day
I've just come home with a quick shot.. and then I watch this, now that's put a smile on my face for sure.

Bradite are bringing a better sheen level out next year

I've used a mixed colour this last week.. video to follow... It was very good
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator look forward to watching that one 👍
I keep a tin in the van for quick repairs , very quick drying so saves a return visit, would recommend 👍

Blimey you said it did alot! Sometimes almost to good to be true! But definitely worth a go.
Id be interested to know if Benny Moore covered that grey in two with a brush
ScuffX?
I doubt... It struggles covering vac scuffed marks on skirting boards.

It should. A sand over and two coats would be best. Unless you're happy how it looks after one.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator thank you for the reply👍🏻
Sprayed windows with it in 7015 using quickshot absolutely brilliant after 2 coats
Was that wooden window or upvc?

Better than MSP Phil? The stuff is amazing. I use it for everything since watching your scratch test video where you rated it very highly.

Just sounds like M.S.P paint.
You forgot to mention the cleaning of your brushes after usage ?
Sorry, no problems with this paint. If there were I'd mention it.

wow. thats something very different to paint. thanks for commenting
we find the white isn't the best but get good results with creams and darker colours
Phil, I have a Graco Ultra. Do you think I should shell out for a Quickshot? Is there much difference between them in your opinion.
Have you watched Ultra video and then the QuickShot videos... Tell me what you think
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I have, although I've never seen a back to back comparison. The main problem with the Ultra is that the motor does not last very long.
@@alanbuckingham8788 the ultra quick shot has the same set up, but they say its lasting longer
I find it hard to know where I’ll use it that’s all.
Did you use an undercoat on your teeth Phil or is it just Bradite one can on its own ?
bleach
👍🏻
Opacity is sh#te in white, colours far better, good for kitchen units very tough 👍
As with all White paint now now .. poor opacity
