we've seen a slow build of momentum in pokemon which (in my opinion) will return to 2020 levels when that pokemon z game and team rocket sets come out, just like the pokemon go craze back in 2020. im gonna put my kidney up for collateral to a mafia loanshark so I can buy more pokemon #winning
Haha a bit extreme don’t sell your kidney you may need it in 50 years becoming from a family of kidney patients 😂 but I don’t think 1 set or the new era will take it back to 2020 craze… what I am still shocked about is the fact that the hobby is still healthy as can be in 2024.. it seems a lot of money has stayed in the hobby but for me personally I’m debating selling a lot of stuff while things are well.. I hope this team rocket set is just the beginning of an amazing era to come! 😎🙏🏼
One thing people forget is that higher printings doesn’t mean anything if the demand is also higher.
Having 10 people chase 1 card is no different than 100 people chasing 10 cards.
Or 1,000,000 people chasing 100,000 cards.
Vintage has lower supply but also lower demand.

I think it's important to keep perspective in mind.
I agree that I think pokemon hobby is strong, but make no mistake that it could all turn on a dime. The most important thing I think people should keep in mind is budgeting and it's not a sexy topic but it's important. I believe it was ketchemall that discussed it best if you wanna watch his video but the biggest takeaway in my opinion was this.
You don't have capital but you don't wanna miss out on a deal either right? So you buy 3 cases of Booster boxes on some set reprint that you expect will increase in the future...Unless you can pay that card off your losing whatever your APR % is per month on that "investment" so basically, even if your product increases 25% and you sell for profit, you didn't make anything because your credit card took all your profits...
Just buy and invest responsibly everyone! I would hate to see you fire sale your collection cause you can't drive to work.
Really great points he’s been someone I look up to as well as far as his experience in this hobby! I never leave debt on my card for over a month so I never pay any kind of interest or fees but you are spot on in your assessment and budgeting properly 😎🙏🏼
I think there’s huge demand for cards of all eras really
Older cards vintage just aren’t around in the 9s and 10s
And then the Morden demand is true the roof, I think that there are so many people in it that it’s good for prices going up
But it also sucks I guess for growing your collection and paying more, but I do agree it is hard to make a bad play
Yes there are few cards if you’re going after chases especially and secret rares it’s hard to go wrong in any era 😎
The market is amazing. Just don't buy too much of one set. Everything will slowly go up in time. More collector than ever.
For sure a great to grab at least one box of every set never know 😎

I agree I expect to see more of the IRs start to pop as time goes on. The artwork is too good.
I do like Mega evolutions though. Easily the best gimmick they’ve had so far. And will look WAY better in SIRs than the Tera types.

85% of the appeal of poke cards is that “they’re worth money” so I believe it’s just manipulated, that’s why magikarp is whatever price. I’m only 5 min into the video. In my belief, cards aren’t really used for anything and it’s kinda like a Ponzi scheme. I tried collecting for max bling playability but with everything inflated it’s painful and with centering issues I finally gave up.

Well Karp was apparently (as many of the higher cost illustration cards) harder to grade with a low hem mint rate. Blinging decks as a player is rough right now I imagine and I sympathize 🤷🏻♀️

Operation PSA 9 Base -> Gym Challenge: Card 6/104 was picked up after auctioning some MP/LP vintage holos this week. Picked up Misty’s Tentacruel ($48) with $3 to spare for the next card.

I think vintage card prices are more likely to start cooling off than modern.
Kids today want modern and more of them become adults every day with spending money.
These kids don’t care about base set or EX era as they’ve never even opened a pack of them.
Moonbreon to them is going to be far more desired than say base set Charizard.
This is possible for sure but I would think people would want to know the history of the hobby which means diving deep into the sets and understanding each and every one (the mid era stuff is my weak point) 😎

@@orionsires dont feel bad. Even with the mangled blastoise, it was one of my best submissions ever, profit margin wise. Turned a few hundred bucks into a few thousand. Its almost like they didnt want to claim they did it and pay me out the money, so they just gave me a bunch of 10s unstead. That way they dont have to pay out any money, they keep a customer, dont have to deal with me nagging them. I know thats a stretch, but its just a really strange situation

I’m a big believer in that as well. Even if it benefits me I’m not so ignorant to act like these price jumps are totally organic growth.. best to wait patience tends to pay in this hobby 😎🙏🏼 long term prices will rise though so I wouldn’t expect a crash
Is it though? Seems like it lined up pretty well with the booster boxes selling out at Pokémon center right? I don’t really know how much some UA-camrs actually matter to that.
