Thanks for following me through this already-crazy year so far! If you have any planner hacks for road trips or just general encouragement to share, I'd love to hear them in the comments!!!
My boyfriend and I moved apartments a couple years back. We found the PERFECT place. It was amazing, in our price range, and would allow us finally to have room for our dogs. But when we realized no apartments would be ready for us by the time our other lease was up, we were devastated, as going to a month-to-month lease was expensive. We went back and asked again, but still no openings. We left feeling so discouraged and heavy-hearted, but I turned to my boyfriend and said, "We're going to find something just as good as this or better. We are. I believe that. Let's check out one more apartment before we go home." We drove to just one more place, both of us feeling depressed and a little hopeless...and found the apartment of our dreams. 10x better than the "perfect" apartment we just left and had been so busy growing attached to when our dream place was just a few minutes down the road. On top of that, they had one apartment available for us, and it was located perhaps the most perfectly out of all the units of that size in the entire complex. To this day, we're a little blown away by how things worked out. We even got a garage! An apartment with an attached garage IN OUR PRICE RANGE? WHAT? Anyway, all that to say, keep following your positive mindset changes. Things may not always work out, but it definitely does help get you to where you want to be.
A couple tips from my very recent experience. 1. Set your “containers” and don’t bring anything that doesn’t fit in them (like your rolling situation). The amount of stuff that wants to jump into your car will grow exponentially. Haha 2. Try keeping stuff together that goes together, rather than like with like. An example: instead of keeping all my chargers together like I do when I travel, I kept my chargers/accessories with the device they went with. So instead of a charger bag, I had an iPad bag that had my iPad, charger, pencil, pencil grip, drawing glove, etc. This may not work for how your brain works, but it really helped me with how all over the place things get with unpacking/packing/nomad stuff. 3. Don’t sweat the small stuff. You will likely not use all the washi, so don’t be tempted to bring it all. (I brought way more pens and supplies than I needed, because I thought I MIGHT use them.) 4. For your Kanban, in case your physical method doesn’t work, consider notion! I know you’ve used it before so it might work for you. Good luck! I know you’ve had a lot of disappointment but this sounds like just the adventure you’ve been needing!
Thank you so much Cindy. These are really good tips. I wouldn't have thought about the chargers like that but it makes so much more sense than try to find the right charger if they are separated. Also, your use of "situation" is one of my favorite things in the world and I love you. Enjoying watching your adventure and unpacking!
Cindy, you and I moved at about the same time. I agree, pick your container and then take a well curated system. We had a 10 day road trip and moved into temporary housing for 3 months while we search for a house. I brought a backpack and one of those rolling collapsible cubes. What I brought entirely too much of was clothes. If I do this again, I will bring 3 changes of clothes and buy anything else on clearance or at the thrift store when I get to my new home.
I am both fascinated and anxious about this! I want to see EVERYTHING from how you're packing your car's trunk to how many outfits you bring. I used to take a lot of roadtrips with my kids when they were as young as yours and I had backseat organizers for them, but not much organization for me. We also got into audiobooks. They still remember listening to "Inkheart" by Cornelia Funke.
Oh my goodness. The situation ties my stomach up in knots, I'm so wowed at how positive you're able to be and stay! I can't imagine doing all this, you remain such a role model for all of us. Fingers crossed every adventure in front of you is amazing and fun!
Having a lap table for the car is helpful. I wish I had done that when we were recently traveling. I found myself having to juggle my notebook, pens, etc. They were slipping all over the place.
I worked as an freelance artist for about 10 years so I was also able to move around to try to find that perfect place for myself. I started off in CO and just didn't feel like it was right for me. It wasn't until after 6 month-3 years in each place of IL, NM, NV, and MN that I found myself in Southern WI by the lake. I fell in love with the location and the people. It's very worth making the journey to find a place that jives with your soul. I really wish you the best on your journey to do so.
Being on the road is both hard and fun! What I've learned doing roadtrips over the years, is to put as much as possible in suitcases. Put as much clothes as possible in the largest case, and use the smaller ones to carry things like your planners, camera stuff, pens and whatnot. If you have a variation of sizes of the suitcases, it's easier to fit them in the boot of the car.
I feel you! My life plans have completely changed in the last 60 days. I went from never going to leave Charleston to buying acreage just outside Clemson. From getting ready to build here to buying a mobile home to live in on the property until these lumber prices settle. Good luck on your new adventure!
Oh, Sarra, wow. We've been noticing the STEEP rise on building materials as we prepare and build for our Halloween setup. I'm talking double the price in some instances, especially on lumber. I am so sorry this happened to you, but I am inspired by your positivity. As we all know, this life journey takes unexpected twists and turns that more often than not work out in our best interest, even though, at the time, we may not know what that slice of positive is. Those whispers, as you put it, man...that gave me straight up chills, sister, because I've been saying for months now that we are ALL in a huge shift. Literal tears in my eyes as I listen to you speak of new beginnings. Proud of you, Sarra, and so GRATEFUL for your presence in our lives. Edited to say: YOU are about to acquire some major inspiration as you travel and experience new places and things!!
I’m so excited for you! I made a change somewhat like this back in 1997 when I left my home of 23 years to go live on a boat! I had a huge library at the time, many crystals, and lots of stationery (well before planners were even a thing I had several). Here we are a lifetime later and I’m so glad I released so much stuff and took the plunge. As a writer I am certain these experiences will turbocharge your creative engine.
I can't believe how positive you are. I'd be crying my eyes out and be so depressed. You are such an inspiration. I wish you all the luck. You deserve it.
I feel for you. It sounds so rough out there for renters. Hubs is a loan officer. The roughest part of his day is having so many renters calling for home loans that are going through the, "my landlord is selling the house I'm renting." Its so sad. I hope you have a great adventure in your travels. It sounds like so much fun! I Love the washitape idea! I store my stickers in a binder with the photo sleeves. I also keep a full size closable binder pocket. Cardinal Plastic Zippered Binder Pockets have a closable colorful stripe that would go great with your binder. Its great for when you have to just tuck your stickers away quickly due to littles one or needed to get going. That way you can put them away later and keep them together safe. I keep 2 in mine. One "to organize" back where I want the stickers to go and one "am using" for ones I use for that week or I am using the most.
Three years ago, I was in the throes of battling postpartum anxiety. I was actively working to get better by getting out and exploring locally. Then my husband got a great job across the country and I was surprisingly totally open to the idea. We had a great adventure until Covid hit and moved back home, but I totally get your feelings of change in the face of anxiety :)
Hey Sarra, So, I just moved from England (after 6 years) back to FL. I'm still dealing with fuzzy brain from the move (we landed on July 24th, stayed at a hotel until we found an apartment to rent, and just moved in!). I put in notecards, a few washi tapes that I use for planning, some colorful pens, and paperclips in a medium-sized pencil case. Then I grabbed a binder, and a notepad (that carries different things I need), and my planner inside a backpack with my laptop. I don't use a board as you do but I basically live by my everyday planner. That is the "work bag" I used during my flight and hotel time. For now, everything else is still in boxes in the UK, waiting to be shipped. I totally understand the whole working during uncertainty thing, I also build houses on the side (which helps me fund my writing career). Keep looking at this as an adventure and remember to enjoy it. I know for me, I get frustrated and cranky when I can't concentrate but sometimes I just need to take a step back and be like WOAH, we just moved from England in short notice and here we are! lol. Good luck!
At the 11:00 mark and just want to say before I forget, y'all should get one of those covered trailers to pull behind the car. I really hope everything works out for y'all, because I would not be handling this as gracefully as you are. 💜💜💜💜 You're awesome and I can't wait to see where this journey takes you!
If you haven't seen them, the tier bins are great. I wish I could share a picture, but they snap together and aren't too big. I keep all of my memory keeping stuff in a set of three (okay, six now that I bought more stickers) and it holds stickers, washi, tape, scissors, etc. The ones I have are large enough for the Happy Planner sticker books. And tackle boxes would probably serve similar functions!
@@ThaBloodWitch Thank you! Our car won't pull a trailer, but we can put a bag on top of the car, so that's the plan. I'm going to look into the bins, thank you!!
@@HeartBreathings look into the smallest size Uhaul type trailers. They can be pulled by any car. Two years ago we drove from Alabama to Cali and back in 21 days. The bag rattled and made a lot of noise from the wind. Last month I went on a three month boondocking trip through the Southwest. I got a Thule overhead carrier reg $700 off Facebook marketplace for $150. Best money I ever spent. Quiet as a mouse and held so much more than the bag. I’ll never go back to a rooftop bag again. Plus it locks.
Came back last month I mean. I left in April. And thank you so much @HeartBreathings for having P&T signups past the 1St week of August. I’m signing up Monday! Can’t wait!
So sorry that you're going through all of this with the changing house prices! But you're right, while children are small, it's a good opportunity not to be tightened to one place, and who knows, maybe you'll enjoy being in different places for a change! I was thinking all this time that oh, no, we aren't getting as much videos in the future anymore, I hope you're not going to dissapear for us, the viewers! You could fit your whole Kanban board in your 3ring binder on different sheets of paper (you might use several sheets for to do, several for doing, several for done) as well as the weekly schedule. OR in a Notion app.
I'm actually a little jealous that you guys are getting to do this. I mean I know it's not ideal, but what a great adventure for your family. I think it's going to be so amazing for you all!
I am a traveller, I essentially started journaling because of traveling. I travel for competitions around 6 months a year. My advice is, resist the urge to take everything. Seriously! I travel with 1 notebook and one pen, the times i took a lot of stuff i regreted it. Think delfonics Medium size pouch, i feel like that is the maximum size if u really wanna bring in accessories and stickers.
My tip is to plan what *projects* you will need supplies for. To start, take what supplies you use daily. Then sit down and make a list of what projects you will need extra supplies for. Ex: “I’ll be on the road for approximately four months. I want to do two projects a month. So I need supplies for eight projects.” That will help pare down your choices and conserve space.
I truly believe sometimes the universe knows what's better for us than we do. So many times, I've accidentally landed where I needed to go just because I was in the right place at the right time... and opened my mind to the possibilities. Oh, and as a Texas gal who moved here... give Colorado a try! In Colorado Springs, we get sun over 300 days a year, it snows long enough to enjoy it before melting the next day, the weather is gorgeous, and nature surrounds us!
So happy that you are truly using the LOA to make your dreams come true in the midst of your contrast. Bless you and your family. I’ll continue to follow you and I gotta get your books!
That sounds like you have an amazing adventure starting! I would highly recommend investing in some compression packing cubes for your clothes, those things were amazing space savers when I was backpacking!
I completely know how you feel. My husband and I went through the same and we’ve decided we want to move our family to Canada. It’s going to take a few years because of the whole visa process but we want the different life it would bring for us. We want to be out of the big towns/cities and back in nature and I know inside that it’s what where we should be
I recently took a trip to SC to visit family and I found that the biggest challenge with planners is making sure they are accessible. I would suggest that you put everything that you need to have accessible (whether it's planner stuff/food/drink or whatever) in some sort of container close to you, even using the glove compartment for napkins, extra plastic ware straws, etc. I like to put hand sanitizer in the door compartment. If you know you have some things that don't need to be AS Accessible those things could be in a box that is easy for Andrew to reach from the back (such as right behind him) so that he can get to it to give it to whomever. I hope this helps!
You’ll have so much fun! I road tripped across the country for 3 months and it was a blast! We lived out of hotels, but Airbnb’s would have been better. You may get travel fatigue, but I have found that the visiting relatives and home cooked meals really go a long way. There are ups and downs but the journey is always worth it!
Bless your heart, Sarra! We've been building for a year! It's on our own plot of acres of land in the mountains, but happy to say we do have a move in date. I'm so sorry. I know this is hard. It's been 15 months for us. I feel you!!!
Love the file folder. I use those and they can fill up really fast with detailed stickies even when stacking. I have laminated paper inside my folders for more space. Not a planning but a packing hack. Dollar store has cheap zipper vacuum bags for linens or whatever clothes. And rolling clothes instead of folding them takes up less space too.
Hi Sarra. I love the folder idea for the mobile Kanban board. If you do 1 folder per goal I think you would have room to do 3 veritical columns with washi in each folder. So you would move the post-it across the folder as you go from to-do, to doing, and done. I can't think of anything smaller you could use unless you got like an art portfolio and carried like 11x14 poster board. I would recommend using a pod to store your non-traveling items, as opposed to a local storage facility. They will ship the pod anywhere when you are settled and ready to unpack. Have fun! :)
Sarra, the best is yet to come! Trust in God and everything will turn out better than you could've thought possible! Don't be afraid; just believe! You've got this!
So excited for you on this new journey! You’re absolutely right that something beautiful is opening up for you and this change will be a blessing for you and your family. We just recently sold our home in Florida and moved to a new state. The home prices jumped $100k on us as well during the buying process, but somehow we ended up settled in at the new place after many, many air bnb’s and staying with family along the way through the South including Florida, New Orleans, and TX. I have no doubt that you’ll make the most of this time and find your footing as you go. Sending you lots of good energy for the journey! Bring your tarot cards and some crystals and stay centered along the way
I am so scared for this process but I can feel your excitement through the screen and I can't help but feel the rush of adventure and possibilities that is in your future😍
I believe in Karma and Fate especially so when I started pulling a daily Tarot card 30 days ago. Listen to your gut and your tingly sense. You won’t go wrong. Can’t wait to follow your journey and in Publish and Thrive! :D. Barbara
OMG. I am so sorry this happened to you and your family! How incredibly stressful. May you find an ideal, soft landing better than you ever thought possible. 🙏🙏
Hubs and I are going through this now. The difference is that while we rehab our house for the market, we will be living in our dining room. Once it sells, we will be moving into an RV while we build our house. ;0) For my Kanban, I am thinking of setting it up the way you prepare yours in a planner/journal. Then every week, move the tabs I am working on. I do like the folder idea and I would three hole punch it to stay in the binder. With all the work you have to do, I think I would just use an accordion file for the washi. If you guys decide to stop in Jacksonville, FL I would love to grab a coffee or show you some beach houses. (I am a Realtor.)
I'm kind of in a similar situation, as my rental contract didn't get renewed for my house and I have three months to find something new and the housing market in the Netherlands also sucks. Definitely as a starter. A mortgage could get me a studio or 1-bedroom apartment right now. And like you, I need a separate office-space/library in the house.. My anxiety hasn't been this high since I was in a mental institution for depression, eating & anxiety disorder 7 years ago.. I don't know what is gonna happen in the next 3 months, but watching this and reading all the comments, is reassuring as I know I'm not the only one in this type of situation. I wish everyone good luck and well wishes and let's come out of this situation feeling better than ever! Much love, xoxo
My brain freezes and the flight relax kicks in when moving and packing boxes are mentioned. I commend you for facing these changes with positivity and seeing it as an adventure for you and your family. I don't know if because of Covid you can, but the last major move I did we got boxes from Starbucks, my daughter worked there at the time, didn't have to buy any. So everything smelled like coffee but hey I love coffee.
I know this is a bump in the road-glad you are excited about change. Since you are starting the journey in Fl. consider stopping through the Tallahassee area-some beautiful landscape/lakes forests all around. God keep your beautiful family safe on the road.
What you are doing right now for your planners and stickers. I feel will help you alot, don't change it. For your Kanban Board I went to Walmart and got one it's just not really big but I put it in the back of my daughters closet where it's not finished and it works perfect. I'm happy that you and your family are having positive energy with your adventure and see where it takes you. I will be watching all your videos that you do and supporting you from the sidelines. Thank you for sharing @HBreathings.
Wow, crazy Sarra! I'm so sorry to hear this about your dream house! That situation with the builders is SO not fair! Life has a way of making changes whether you are ready or not. I'm with you on new beginnings. We did it for 4-5 years. We went from the coast in Cali, to the desert in California, to SLC, Utah (due to jobs) then off to a smaller house by the beach in Dana Point, Ca. Hang in there, with you!
I would love to see what your plan is with your witchy stuff! Which tarot deck are you taking, how will this impact your am and pm routines. May be more fitting on your sarra Cannon channel but I think it will be very interesting to see. Wishing you the best girlie!
Love the kanban board solution. I'm thinking of doing a version of that in my Tul disc binders, using construction paper that I can punch on the side. So thanks for sharing these ideas. Praying for you and your family that you all have fantastic adventures and your housing issues are resolved even better than you imagine.
Another roadtrip tip: When on the road, you'll often want to make potty-breaks. I found out the hard way that having a bathroom caddy was very useful. I filled it with TP, wetwipes, hand sanitizer, hand soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, handcream, sunscreen, moisturizer, hairbrush, hairties, and any other things you can think of needing. Get a bag you can zip up to avoid things accidentally spilling out. This will save you from having to overpay for these things at gas stations. I've roadtripped both Europe and the US, if you need any tips and tricks for being on the road, feel free to holler my way.
I think this an adventure and opportunity to make memories with your family. I can't wait to see where you go and where you land. I am excited to see how you plan and work as you travel. Sending happy energy.
I use a 3 ring binder as my goals planner/binder with a tab for each month of the quarter. I just labeled them month 1, month 2, and month 3 so I don't have to change them every quarter. For my writing goal stickies. I put them on the divider tab and move them into the week I plan on doing them - for stickies that are a weekly goal I put them on the monthly calendar and move them to a jar at the end of the week when I have finished them. If I have something I need to track daily, then I use a color code and mark each day off on the monthly calendar.
The market's so bad in the UK for buyers too. It's so hard to find a place and most decent houses are barely on the market for a few days before they're taken. Best of luck with your travels. Hope you see some good places.
Excited for your journey ahead! You may want to place Galveston, TX on your schedule. We moved to TX a few years ago and love it! Just found out in my 40’s I’m a Texan and always have been! Lol! A fun thought for the kiddos...use a binder or blank book to make a Travel Junk Journal for each of them. It can be a fun activity during the adventure, a great way to process change for kids, and a lovely memory book for them after you guys have settled. Many blessings to you and your family!
Ummm, coming from the Carolina Coast, I’m betting Sarra will be underwhelmed by Galveston like I was. I love, love , love the beach but Galveston just made me miss “the beach” even more.
Oh girl, you are pushing through some 💩. I love your positive attitude, you got this! Listen to your inner voice! You are on the correct path. Kiddos can do virtual school. I love the idea of just exploring possibilities!
Hey Sarra :) I'm really sorry about the whole house situation, it's heartbreaking, but I've learned the universe always has a way of working things out for us even if we don't realize it at first
I travel plenty, and sometimes I use a clear screw and nail toolbox. It has removable partitions on both sides. I limit myself to what I’ll actually use, rather than just have variety. Another option is to pre-washi you journals ahead of time. With vanlife you have little space, so usually, I just bring a multicolor pen and a pencil. You can’t use 20 pens and pencils at once lol
You should write a book about this journey. I can see a fiction book or a non fiction. Also keep notes about the places you visit. Never know when an idea will hit or the places will come in handy for settings. I didn't do that when I lived in Long Beach and I wish i had.
I'm going through the same thing with my landlord we have been in the house for over 5 years and now we have to go because he wants more money. Let us know how your family is making it work for you. Right now we are going to be in the same car. You have the right to stay in your house as they go through it. And when they go through it and what day. I didn't like people coming in the house without me there.
I love your "This Week" kanban board. I think it would work well for people in smaller spaces who don't have the wall space to put up a big board, too! ♥♥
Ohhh nooooo I'm so sorry! How stressful and sad, I know you guys were so excited about that house. I love your positive energy and attitude about everything though. Keep it up Sara, you are doing amazing.
Oh no. The builder is going to go waaaay up on the price! My mom and I are in that situation in AZ. Prices have skyrocketed. Homes that were 310k two years ago, are selling at 460k+. And they are junkers that need a lot of work! We were working with a builder who went up over 100k over the course of two months for the same house, same lot. It’s crazy. We backed out and decided to keep in our rental.
I am so sorry about your home. But, you’re right. Change comes so fast and something better is on the horizon. Accept the magic! Praying for y’all on your new journey!
I'm truly impressed by your positive attitude! I do think things happen for reason and maybe that area wasn't meant to be at the end. Other areas, like midwest are still way more reasonable price and certian decent size cities out there. I do love your idea of going on little adventure, and one of those fun things you get too experience with your family. Makes me want pack a bag and hit the road! I do hope you and your family find the perfect place your meant to be and to grow.
Good luck, Sara. I wish you and your family the best. I Love St-Petersburg. My mom had a mobil home there for some years in the past. I love the beach there. I hope you will find something that is convenient for you and your family. I send you my best thoughts.
How exciting! I confess I was half expecting you to be doing the RV thing, but that's because I'm also subscribed to artist Brie Hatton's Documented Journey channel and she's been enjoying her RV trips. Still, I'm not surprised that you're packing up and travelling - if it wasn't for my beloved garden, I would be rather jealous 😀 Enjoy your freedom, and I hope you manage to pare your supplies down to the perfect balance between usability and space!
This sounds like an interesting adventure, and you are handling all the changes in circumstance with grace. I would be a wreck. I hope you enjoy Florida! I grew up in south Florida, Atlantic side, and I loved it. The Gulf coast is beautiful, too! If you come up the east coast, Yorktown, VA is a nice area to stay (though peninsula traffic can be nightmarish at times if you have to travel the main roads). If you're looking for mountains, up near Front Royal is really pretty as well. I live about 45 minutes from there, and it's a really nice little place - gorgeous old town area, about an hour outside of DC, not too far from West Virginia. There are a lot of neat places you could visit within an hour's drive - which is considered a standard and reasonable driving time up this way.
Those are some amazing ideas, Sarra! I have a small living space for all my supplies, and, while not as great and varied as yours, are both growing as well as taking up quite a bit of room. So, I'll be taking some of your ideas and incorporating them to make my area less cluttered :) Thank you so much for sharing. And I've said a prayer for you and your family to find joy in this new journey you're finding yourself in the middle of.
Amazon has a lot of car organizers and storage things. My favorite is the Car Seat Organizer, Backseat Car Organizer with Touchable Tablet Holder , 12 Storage Pockets, 2 Hooks, Earphone Hole Design, 2 Backup Bags, Kick Mats Car Organizer Back Seat (2 Pack) that you could use for your things as well as space for toys and books for Andrew and Evie.
Here's to wishing you all the very best. I am so inspired by you and hope that one day I can do what you do. I LOVE your ideas and always get excited after I see them!
Sara have you thought of a zip up portable jigsaw puzzle case. The post it’s will stay in place and you can carry it using the one handle. And it’s very slim and lightweight. If size is a problem because of your frame, you could start a new one using foam board. Happy travelling. Love Sylvia and Tracey
Yeah, definitely don't do the RV thing. I've done it the last two years with my husband and we're transitioning OUT of it. Reality and expectation do not always meet. Some gifts come in really weird/not so pretty packaging. But there are GREAT things around the horizon, and it's so great that you're listening to your inner voice. It's really important
I got to say, I respect anyone who is living an RV life and all the power to you...It's just not for me. I watch some of the UA-cam vids and I'm like "Yeah, I would die." I hope you had some good memories of RV living.
@@elizalagonia1049 You know, it's been a very strange experience. It's not what I thought it would be and that's totally okay. It led me to my next adventure so I can't knock it! :)
I love your channel. Thank you for sharing your adventures in life. I don’t think I have anywhere the energy that you do but I do love to watch. Many great ideas that you have. I want to get into writing children’s books.
Just a thought…you may want to do a test run packing the car now. Because what may seem like a small amount of items in the office, may be a tight squeeze to fit in the car when combined with the rest of your family’s clothes and other items. Best of luck on your adventure. Your wonderfully positive attitude is an inspiration.
I homeschooled my kiddos while on the 'road' in a non-RV life. I know this is a 'personal' and I get that so much... but I know you didn't mention the avenues you plan on using. Virtual is amazing but there will always be a need for 'hands-on.' I know your son is the same age as my 2nd go around kiddo. I could suggest some amazing science in a box kits that are on Amazon that you could have delivered to the AirBNB. Also Outschool classes are great. I'm sorry if I overstepped. The best of luck to you all
I can't wait to join in on your adventure! Just so you know (and you probably already do), I have ATT for my cell phone and that plan comes with a personal hot spot. Works great. My granddaughter loves it in the car because she can set it up herself and log onto her games and face time her friends without a hitch while we are traveling.
Traveling sounds so exciting! I know it will be stressful, but it sounds like it could also be fun. I hope that you will be sharing your adventures on Instagram. I am looking forward to following along! Good luck!
That sounds like a lot of fun. I love that you're being so positive about it. Also, if you happen to come to the Dallas area... I'd love to meet up. Forest witch sounds fun, too.
Lovely Video! You’re on the right track with your stationery organisation 👏 . Amidst the overwhelming anxiety (I’m sure it comes in repeated waves and ebbs), you are doing well. Know that we wish you well and cheering you on. I’m filled with anticipation of your adventures ahead, because, you know what (?) , this becomes our (virtual) adventure too! 😂💖🌸
Sometimes whatever is out there just bashes you over the head to get you to change. As hard as we fight it, it just keeps hitting us. My husband had planned on dying in New York. He was born there he was going to die there. Last summer, we weren't sure if his charter school was going to be around last school year, we could see the crime rate rising in NYC and the Bronx where we were living (someone actually got shot two blocks away in front of a presinct) and many other issues, but we were sticking it out. Then one day Sal got a resume request to be a Bush teacher in Alaska. Long story short we didn't move to Alaska, though were close and if his school didn't get their charter we'd probably seeing Russia in our back yard. One of the schools was west of Kodiak on the Ellegian Islands. I was a little worried about that one. I would have done it but I'll admit living in a small fishing village with less that 1000 people kind of scared me. Anyway, after that we basically did what you're doing but vurtually. We opened the whole of the USA and said pick somewhere. We spent most of August and September narrowing 50 to 8, and then to 3 and finally we moved in February to N Kentucky. I think this is great and I think it will be a great adventure. Home schooling is easy right now, there are online programs that have been going on for years that are keeping enrolment open, and you can find somewhere you want to be. Nashville and Cary, NC were the other two places on our 3 list. Nashville is growing and putting in a commuter rail that will help transportation and Cary, NC is growing again (Though the housing market is a little over priced and has been for almost 30 years when I lived there as a kid.)
Have you considered renting commercial space? With so many places closed down or out of business, there are a lot of commercial vacancies in my area. If you work with a commercial realtor, they might help you find an apartment above a storefront. Regular renters won't be able to take it and with an upstairs/downstairs situation, it's easier to work out the tax situation for your business. You don't have to open the storefront to the public but if there are front windows, you can paper them over with butcher paper or decorate them with ads for your books. Good luck to you - it's quite an adventure!
I love an adventure it sounds like fun. Last time I just went where the wind blew me I ended up moving half a world away and it was the best choice I ever made. For your portable kanban board, how about a foldable foamboard display? You can just fold it shut to hold the stickies in place while travelling and it would be self standing when you arrived at your new location. Also you could use painters tape or washi or wet erase marker to outline it on a window without leaving marks when you move to the next rental place. Good luck with your adventure I am so excited for you.
@@ninjarebecca5045 I love this perspective so much. Thank you.
Congrats! You certainly deserve it!
Have a blessed weekend
I can't wait to see vlogs and hear about the places you go 😭😭
AHHHH! Just saw that we hit 45k subscribers!! THANK YOU !!!
woohoo!!!!
A couple tips from my very recent experience.
1. Set your “containers” and don’t bring anything that doesn’t fit in them (like your rolling situation). The amount of stuff that wants to jump into your car will grow exponentially. Haha
(I brought way more pens and supplies than I needed, because I thought I MIGHT use them.)
Sarra ❤️❤️❤️ my husband wanted to add to bring plenty of power strips lol. Nancy - I brought way too many shirts and not enough underwear. Lol
You can also use Trello for your Kanban Board.
I'm rooting for you, no matter where you land. I love how optimistic you're being during all of this change.
"When the Lord delights in a man's way, He makes his steps firm." May your steps be firm as you embark on this adventure. Xoxo
Amen!
That's a really good point thank you
@@HeartBreathings best of luck!! 💜
It really does help thank you!
:D. Barbara
If you come through Huntsville, AL, you definitely need to take the kids to the Space Center. They’ll both love it.
Yesss, I will be sharing all the details over on that channel. I have.a plan, haha. Going to be hard to leave some things in storage though.
I bet! You recently inspired me to buy my first tarot deck. I've been really enjoying learning about each card.
Hang in there, Sarra! I just went through the exact same type of mess. Thankfully, I am now on the other side of it. You'll get there, too!
How exciting!! I'm so happy for you guys!
I’m so excited for your adventures! I hope you visit the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. It’s beautiful, safe, and has a low cost of living!
Yes! My family lives in Front Royal near there!
So excited for you! Adventurous. Magical. Greater and better things are coming your way.
I admire your mindset and I can't wait to see where the adventure takes you. All the best wishes from Germany!
Your life sounds like a mystical fantasy novel ❣
You should write a book about this journey. I can see a fiction book or a non fiction.
Also keep notes about the places you visit. Never know when an idea will hit or the places will come in handy for settings. I didn't do that when I lived in Long Beach and I wish i had.
I'm going through the same thing with my landlord we have been in the house for over 5 years and now we have to go because he wants more money. Let us know how your family is making it work for you. Right now we are going to be in the same car. You have the right to stay in your house as they go through it. And when they go through it and what day. I didn't like people coming in the house without me there.
I'm so very sorry you are going through this. I think it's more people than we even realize.
Oh and check out Michigan. It’s cold, not gonna lie. But you get lake life, so many seasons and all the woods.
So, I'll be taking some of your ideas and incorporating them to make my area less cluttered :)
Thank you so much for sharing.
And I've said a prayer for you and your family to find joy in this new journey you're finding yourself in the middle of.
Thank you so much.
Oh I will look these up thank you!!
clever ideas! I love the folders for the post-it notes - I use a planner as well for that! Blessings on your adventure! SO exciting!
Best of Luck, Sarra! Have a great journey. There’s a quote which says ‘Travelling- it leaves you speechless then turns you into a storyteller’
Enjoy the opportunity! I’m sure it’s going to be a memorable experience!
All the best to you and your family in your travels!
Sounds like an exciting adventure. I live in North Florida and glad to be here.
I watch some of the UA-cam vids and I'm like "Yeah, I would die."
I hope you had some good memories of RV living.
@@elizalagonia1049 You know, it's been a very strange experience. It's not what I thought it would be and that's totally okay. It led me to my next adventure so I can't knock it! :)
The course sounds amazing. I will have to sign up during the next one.
We had the same thing happen to us a few years ago and we waited to see what would happen. So enjoy and take your time. Come to Texas.
I love the folder kanban board idea. I my use that as we travel.
So excited for this new adventure for you!
The best of luck to you all
I'm happy to hear your suggestions and wisdom!
I hope everything will turn out beautifully for you ♥
I can't wait to join in on your adventure! Just so you know (and you probably already do), I have ATT for my cell phone and that plan comes with a personal hot spot. Works great. My granddaughter loves it in the car because she can set it up herself and log onto her games and face time her friends without a hitch while we are traveling.
I am so excited for you!!! This will be such an awesome family experience.
I took P&T and it is worth every Penney, and more!
Love you, Sara 🤍
Thank you Kim!
💨💨💨Whooo whoot take us on an Adventure. Safe travels 💨💨💨
Traveling sounds so exciting! I know it will be stressful, but it sounds like it could also be fun. I hope that you will be sharing your adventures on Instagram. I am looking forward to following along! Good luck!
go for it Sarra! what a great attitude! snag that opportunity!! cheering you on!
I would call this "whisper" an intuition
Yes definitely!!!
Are you pulling a trailer or anything for your stuff? So freaking excited for you! You are going on an adventure! ADVENTURE AWAITS!
The car won't pull a trailer safely so we are going to try to put stuff on the roof. Eek
We will see how it works out!
Such a lovely video and so excited for you and your family!!!
I'm going through a mega shift as well.
Sending you all the love on your own adventure!
Great ideas, thank you so much!!
