Hodan is my main so I was a little butt hurt by the placement but I do kinda get it, I think Hodans main strength comes into play with making your opponent fuck up on purpose to then punish the shit out of them since Hodan holds a pretty strong edge with his advantage state but that’s only if your opponent MAKES those mistakes in the first place so more defensive play styles he struggles getting in
So he's essentially the Toon Link of Rivals, in the sense where he's still technically a threat because he's about pressuring the opponent into making a mistake, so he can punish off of that.
So I only recently got into this game (haven't played a platform fighter in like a year or more) after only playing for a few minutes years ago. I am honestly loving it! I do have a point to this, though. I decided to main Ori bc 1) I loved the game Ori is from and 2) wanted the milestone pet reward bc I love birds. As such I decided to play tf out of Ori while farming bots I slowly turned up the level of to knock the rust off and get into practice (currently up to about lvl 6, started at 3 or 4? Only been a day or two), and that's how I decided on Ori as my main bc the gameplay is fun af. And I somehow oops'd into my favorite character having amazing neutral game and the character I want to pocket, Olympia, also having some really good stuff going for her 😅
wrastor was my first rivals of aether character i've played (i think) and its really fun being speedy and incredibly op but its really annoying when you miss some hits and instead of hitting the enemy you get hit instead
Sucks seeing the characters I like playing (Clairen, Ranno, and Mollo) being in the bottom half. Especially seeong my favorite character to play being in dead last 😭
Ranno's ridiculous because of his dash attack and extremely easy combos, his interrupting needles and how his entire game is based around tripping people up on inputs which he can almost always capitalize on and combo the fuck outta people. All the characters are EXTREMELY good, they all have flaws to balance them.
Great Tier-List, honestly idk if this is outdated or not but while you were unveiling and talking about the characters in the Tier-List i noticed a few things, well first off while the game is already in a pretty good or great spot balance-wise i think not much could be done without fundamentally changing how the game works on a mechanical level mechanics-wise, like i feel most of the B and C Tier characters could really use shielding as a safer and more non-committalblel approach option at least compared to Parryies to help them up in their rankings, and this is why i think Rivals 2s’s addition of Shields will make a really great impactful addition to the game in a healthy way meta-wise to help the other characters who struggle with zoning or getting in in the game in the meta meta-wise. So yeah in shorts people shouldnt be afraid so much of Shields and grabs and / or ledges in the first place, like alr fair enough that you think zoners getting more defensive tools might be is might be more problematic, but what are zoners supposed to shield when theyre zoning out characters with their long-range moves and projectiles? Its obvious that shielding is obviously a mechanic more meant for rushdowns and helping other slow chars getting in, and grabs are designed to counter that too once you closed the gap distance, then theres ledges which actually fair enough its anyones guess how they will be impacting the game, but with how theyre handled in this game i really dont think we should be having any problems with them, like really you can only grab them and get invincibility twice before touching the ground, so its not like you can really spam and abuse it ledge invincibility like you can in Melee, so thats already been taken care of, and even then Dan can still patch the game to fix stuffs so really no reason to be so pessimistic about it. 👍 Alright i went on a bit of a tangent here lol, but mostly what im saying is that most of the B and C Tier characters could really well use the inclusion of Shields in Rivals 2 and that theyll help foster a more aggressive playstyle compared to 1, like tbh ive seen that Kragg match during that last Heat Wave Highlights in the Rivals Channel and it was mostly just Kragg camping the corner and ledge with his Up-B lol.
