- How to fix a craftsman table saw. This was a multi part video that I re-uploaded. I repair my old craftsman table saw. worked great but I traded it for a truck tool box and then bought a new Dewalt table saw.
I am an amazon affiliate , Shopping through my link doesn't cost you a thing, but I get a small fee when you do. Thanks! amzn.to/2VKQjIV
This was the exact problem my saw had too. Replaced the bearing and I'm back up running. Thanks for the video
Thanks for this video. I like watching you repair " good Stuff". It gives me confidence to try to fix things that break down on me.
My 137 series saw just locked up last night... in the same position as you were, i have nothing to lose so I might as well try and rebuild it. I like these models of saws so I hope i can get it right. I used mine every day until it broke! Thanks for the tutorial, I'll take a shot at it!
This is obviously a very common problem for these saws - several noted here - plus mine. Mine was quiet but sent sparks out of the vent slots on the end of the motor and tripped my afci outlet. I found the same suggestions for fix that you did: cut the bearing or pry it apart with a screwdriver, freeze the armature, AND put the new bearing in a waterproof plastic bag and put it in boiling water. (I also saw somebody use a torch to heat the new bearing, but . . . The UA-camr I watched was able then to let his new bearing slide on the shaft with only a light tap or two. I found bearings by size (6200Z or ZZ) all over ebay. (I had one in 2 days for $4.98). Really wish I had known to go to Fastenal.
Thank you for the video! Just fixed my 20 years old Craftsman table saw using your video as a guide!
Same here. Mine just sounded like I was dragging a concrete block behind a truck.
Gave away a nicer saw, thinking this small one would allow some extra elbow room, and now I’m back to my trusted Makita circular saw.
I like your step by step approach, it is logical and methodical. Good job on the repair.
Thanks.
Glad it worked out that you could save that saw! Always better to try to fix something rather than just tossing it out. If you can't fix it, you can throw the parts you don't want out and keep the rest for some other purposes. That is how I became a Grand Poobah top notch Hoarder.I don't have a bunch of junk, I have inventory!
Really cool you were able to fix that yourself!!!
Very handy,Brad!
Great job! I knew you could handle it
Piece of cake! 😁 Rog
I have the same model tablesaw and had similar problem. Thank you for the video.
Nicely done.
awesome job!
I like it man ...great job pal ..
Helpful, thanks!
Kudos well done
very nice job.
Good stuff.
Maybe try a small 3 jaw puller on the old bearing instead of using the dremel to cut it off. The dimple at the end of the shaft is for the puller center post point.
Brad, another win.
Nice fix....I doubt I would have tried to fix it.
Pretty sure mine is messed up the same way. This is my project for tomorrow. Thanks for the video. Wish me luck.
Good luck!
@@bctruck update, it is the same problem but it also cracked both brushes so I'll be replacing those as well as the rear bearing. I don't have a dremel so I'm hunting down a bearing puller. One of my friends has to have one. The one I have is for bigger bearings and won't fit into the space between the bearing and the ceramic holding the brush contacts.
Great job. How long ago was this video made. I seem to remember seeing it before. Thanks for your fixer upper videos.
It was done years ago but it was in two clips. UA-cam is doing away with its editor and I wanted to put the two clips together before they get rid of it.
i just picked this exact saw up on the side of the road for free it made the noise you said and tripped the switch just like you said so i will be taring into it thanks so much for the vid
Junk works DIY Garage I actually used this saw for a few more months and traded it for a big truck tool box. Then I convinced my wife that world would end unless she bought me anew dewalt table saw . Bwahahaha!!! Thanks to me, the world continues to spin!
my wife is great but i doubt id get away with that one thanks again
@@JunkworksGarage lmao
Nice video!
Thanks!
Thznks yourvudeo was awesome going fix mine
helpful video thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I got 12 years out of mine same problem after cleaning air spray it star back just to finish a project then died the next day . I just gonna get me anew one probably the Delewat for 229 .
Hi all,
Where can the bush be purchased? I've replaced the bearing, but the bush was shredded. It looks like a very standardised part but all the links I've found to the part number say not available.
Thanks
I used a small puller.
So the enteral fan blade separated into several pieces on mine and then the motor is tripping the reset almost instantly. Checked my brushes as well and they seem fine. Can the fan part be bought and where. I plan to replace bearings as well and brushes even though they seem fine. There is a rumble vibration when turned on before it trips the breaker.
I did this video 6-7 years ago. I can’t remember much about it anymore. I have a DeWalt contractor saw now.
How did you separate the plastic cooling armature part from the arbor? I have mine apart but can't get to the keyway or c clip.
I’m real sorry I can’t help. It’s been a long time since I did this video and I just can’t remember.
@@bctruck Just my question! These two don't seem to just pop apart.
I discovered a problem yesterday with my 113.298030 Craftsman table saw when I tried to tilt the blade to cut a 45 degree. Beyond 10 degrees it got increasingly hard to turn the wheel. I did everything I could to get it freed up to no avail....could only get to 20 degrees. Brushed the screw rod, lubed it everywhere I could. Don't know why it's so hard to turn...do you have any ideas short of dismantling the saw???
sorry, I havent had this saw in a long time.
They are pressed on.
what happened to your folding dewalt table saw?
tucked safely away in my shop under armed guard security.
I'm still trying to figure out who that is in the video
Can we get a 6 year update, is the saw still working?
I traded that saw for a truck toolbox, then I bought a huge dewalt contractor saw. The dewalt has worked hard ever since.
Bearing is pressed on….small gear puller or machine shop you will need a new race for the bearing
Nope. Put it in the freezer. It popped right off. Ordered new bearing. Worked like new.
also, if they still have a "Fastenal" store by you, that bearing is only a $1.65!
Cool, good to know
First!!!
Vandalism ! Best to look at other people's work before starting your own show.
No clue what that means.
