I got a friend to try out osu back in 2019 'cause "oh, it'll improve your aim" just for shits and giggles, and my man got so hooked, that they burned out and wrote a self reflection on their osu profile and now quit the game all in the span of 3 years

I started because back in 2011 I had a digital artist friend who played it to train her tablet pen control and she sent me a map with a meme song that hooked me forever (yaranaika by siriru) also re:breaks I take a break every time I change tablet area and coming back after a couple of days or weeks is easier than just working through it and forcibly retraining the muscle memory
Depends on how much you play the game. If you play 20min a day it'll be rough, but you can get used to a new area even in a couple hours session.

I got into osu because I saw a video of one of those 50 people verses one map videos. I immediately fell in love and knew I needed to download and get the game. I had never played a rhythm game before, but I knew I would love it. I’m not able to play osu that much rn, but I continue to have the same love for it ❤️
6:30 I got into osu! because of the concept. I was pretty much a music gamer myself and since i used to be a gd player, seeing osu as this indie game with a good community got me in.
4 years now has passed and now i am sure i unknowingly sold my soul to osu, idk i just now prefer the circle game than the cube jump game

I remember getting into osu! because I was saw somewhere online that it was a good way to get used to using a drawing tablet, now the drawing tablet is mostly used for osu!
My osu! journey:
I was playing mainly Geometry Dash, but got frustrated from constantly playing on "sudden death". So when I found a video of osu! I instantly knew it was a game for me and was only playing osu! for two years. Now I started to also play other games.

the mapmaking meme hit me hard when I saw I had 7 unfinished charts in osu!mania, just shows how irregularly motivated I am because I keep on ending it there after charting 3/4ths of the map

My Osu story: Ever since Project Diva 2nd came out I was obsessed with playing every rhythm game I could get my hands on: Project Diva, SIF, Bandori, Parappa, etc. However, I always felt intimidated by the difficulty of Osu because of its different format from most rhythm games. This was until I just recently started developing a fanmade Beatles rhythm game, which I am still working on, and thinking up beatmaps for it. I get a notification on my phone: “New top play on pp farm map growing in popularity: It Won’t Be Long- the Beatles”. For some reason, this is what got me to be like *THIS IS A SIGN-*
Mr. Fishu, I didn't believe you when you said taking a break on osu is the best thing you can do. I took a break for a week and was really struggling but I got some new maps and kicked the rust off now I'm make fc's and s rank plays, thank you. (Plus I like the beard)

Got into osu! Because of a UA-cam video somebody made and at the time I played a lot of rhythm games and was hungry for more and I downloaded it and immediately loved it, this was back in January 1st of 2020
I played osu because I used to play a lot of overwatch and I saw EFFECT a pro overwatch league player play it, and it motivated me to play osu and use that so I can improve at overwatch and reach the higher ranks. Now I play it every single day for score farming, and just to have fun. I always used mouse and I will never stop using mouse. Great video as always Koi :D
i found osu bc i randomly remembered a few years back when i'd see like so many people on discord all playing it and i wanted to know what it was. i instantly loved it and over a year later that hasn't changed i still genuinely love this game
and now my entire friend group of like 7 people either plays osu or at LEAST knows what it is. one of them plays only mania and grinded to 5 digit in it, respect to them
i started playing with a friend back when role queue was new to overwatch, we queued dps so naturally we had 20 min queues
I started cause I was impressed watching ed's some say vid and then continued because it was fun to see and feel improvement. I still play other games such as valorant, chess, mc, destiny, and hopefully elden ring soon.
A friend of mine brought his pc to school for gaming club and played DT in osu. I was mesmerized. A year later when I bought a pc of my own, I remembered that moment in high school and I wanted to try osu for myself.

I started playing osu as another way to aim train for games like valorant but then i bought a tablet and the addiction just grew from there
6:27 I really though it was going to help me with my aim, instead, it helped me with reaction time, I feel like I can react faster in FPS after playing osu for nearly a year at this point.
+ Osu made me do more hand exercises to prevent injuries, and those became like a habit after waking up.

6:28 I used to, because I played osu!mania just to get better at quaver. But it kind of got addicting so I completely forgot quaver and played osu to get better at it.
6:30 I started playing Osu! back in march, because for some reason i thought it would help me improve flicking in Valorant, and to a very small point it did. But now, i play it just to improve, bought a tablet and everything, went from 2.7mil to 1.1mil rank in 2 months. not sure if it really means anything but its still brought me joy. knowing that I could barely play 1-2 star maps just 2 months ago, and now i can play and hold onto high 3 star, low 4 star maps with a 100-160bpm. Thing is, I just got my tablet last week, so Im still ironing out the kinks, and its hard making the switch from mouse to tablet, but im already getting the hang of it pretty well.

I started playing osu! because I played Roblox way too much and got addicted to RoBeats, then I kept seeing people mentioning osu!, saying that it was similar to osu! so I downloaded the game and started as a mania player. Then I saw hvick's replay on Miraizu and started playing classic. Here I am now, an overranked 5 digit.
I started playing osu about 2 years ago, I got introduced to it from the big black being reccomended to me on my grandpa's Mac in 2016 or 17 and I thought it looked cool so when I finally got a pc 2 years ago I thought I'd give it a shot and I'm never going to escape

>Download stepmania 3.95, play index to practice for the arcade
>Learn to play askl instead of index finger only on arrow keys. Hard song megapack just released. Compete with ddr friends for highest scores on stepmania
>We all quit for various reasons - nearly 10 year break. Itg machine was removed from the arcades because all the sensors were too worn down and they refused to do any service or cleaning to the machine ever so it eventually fell in disrepair. Closest rhythm game machine is hours away now.

I started osu! from being introduced to it by a friend and at the time I was playing minecraft hypixel. I didn't start to get better at another game, it was just fun

I started playing osu because I saw my cousin play it, but I sucked so I stopped playing for a while...until I got a school laptop, downloaded osu, and played it on touchscreen for the rest of the year. I was able to start playing low 5* maps by the end of the year
For my osu journey i started because i found it on my cousin's computer and i tried it, then i started playing on my computer and now i can't stop
I joined mid 2020 because I was increasingly getting reccommended osu videos of Vaxei and Whitecat and I wanted to give it a shot myself, didn't even know I had the osu tutorial and instantly booted up a 1,2* map, 15 miss C rank on Wildcard lol, then I played the tutorial and discoverd you needed to hold sliders
I started in 2020 because of the influence of my friends in computer club, so I downloaded osu! and somehow become addicted to it that I didn't play minecraft for several months and my friends thought I was dead lol.
i got into osu bc my friends played it. my pc was horrible, and i knew i would never be able to get good at csgo and stuff no matter what i did, so i played it since it ran somewhat ok on my pc. it makes me happy to know it’s something that stuck with me even after getting a good pc, because it’s one of the only games i was able to play and have fun on since the days of having a limited range of playable games

I was a huge weeb back in primary school and at the time anime was way less popular than it is now. I wanted to play some anime games, but not many existed back then. One of them was osu!, and that's how my journey began.
I started playing osu! because i have been wanting to play it for like 3 years after one of my friends talked a lot about it but i never could because i had no pc. now here 3 years later i got a laptop for my college and well... it is mainly used as an osu! machine. really need to get a keypad though because im scared of breaking my laptop keys at this point.

Spend at least 3 hours per day for like 2 months
Decide to try standard, having fun with anime op and touhou music
Play a lot in multi lobbies, make cool friends, and bitch about my aim being bad due to shite skill with mouse.
Get a tablet, break into 5 digit after 6 months (3 mouse + 3 tablet)
Been playing the game regularly for the last 2 years later and I still enjoy it :D

i actually got into osu cause a friend was playing it, then saw stuff like centipede and cookiezi, and some ronald mcdonald meme maps, never even thought about it "improving" your aim in competitive games (which i doubt really works, i'd assume you get a bit better at reacting and stuff, but 2d doesnt really help with 3d)

I started playing osu in mid 2017 because people on discord wanted to play together, only me and one person from like 6 people stayed to this day.
First rhythm game was project diva for ps4 but my friend got me into osu, yes i played instead of doing assignments and i got a tablet for christmas, and within the first year i played 16 hours in 2 days and got tendonitis
I got into osu! because a high-school friend told me it had something similar to stepmania.
That was like 8 years ago.
I remember when I started playing osu! because I watched someone play something and said. "I could do that" and then proceeded to not do that in any capacity.
I first starting playing osu to get better at games as well and I suddenly just got interested in the game.
