About 10 years ago on a work trip - terribly under packed and freezing - found a beautiful men's Uniqlo cardigan in electric purple on the sale rack. It's thicker than the womens and has really held up over time.
I totally agree with you Amanda about The White Company ❤
Me too
😍 The long gray duster!
I have an Amanda Wakeley cap sleeve top still going strong. best quality piece that last the distance. thank you Amanda.
Buying the Uniqlo CWK cashmere now on your recommendation- thanks so useful and informative!❤
Loads of cashmere feel knits out there ATM, which are closer to my budget 😂 Definitely won't be getting cashmere now you've mentioned the moths 😮
Thank the universe for FNF 🥳 🙏
I keep my cashmere in the freezer. I kid you not... Best place for it. Moth proof. I too, manage to keep items for Decades. I Dubbin all my leather (my Country Road equestrian boots are 23 yrs old), & de-ball jumpers, etc. I also buy men's clothes. I recently thrifted a BNWT, maroon wool-blend suit...Tagged at $599, for $25!
Love love love the Arkett trs and the Cos? beautiful sweater 💕
Love this girls. I have been building my cashmere collection the last few years. Second hand is great, charity shops sell for around £20-30 for very well kept cashmere. And eBay. And mine have lasted years.
Uniqlo is also one of my faves, watch out for the sale in spring when they get rid of spring/autumn colours around 1/2 price.
Please can you do an ‘outfit video’ as I feel there’s a lot of ‘shopping’ ones and it’s costing me a fortune! 🙏
Store in cashmere storage bag from Total Wardrobe Care breathable too. Not an ad...
❤ you both. Fantastic Show ❤
I have a TSE black cashmere jumper, bought in 1996. I absolutely adore it. It is the perfect shape, fit and thickness and it suits me to perfection. It is also smothered in moth holes. I keep repairing them and love the idea of making the repairs conspicuous. I will never ever throw it away. I also have a beautiful grey Queene and Belle long cardigan. The elbows have disintegrated. I rack my brain all the time about how I can repair it and wear it to death.
Leather patches on the elbows would look cool.
@@bernitajenkins7581Yes I’ve done that already but holes have appeared outside of the patches 😅
Amanda is right i have struggled with the fit of The White Company- so never went back
I agree with Jo I like the white company because their cashmere is very light and I have had a couple of jumpers from about 3 years ago and they are still looking very good. I also love Brora but in the sale.
I keep my cashmere in zip lock bags after they laid there eggs all over my jumpers. Lucky I found it before they hatched.
Keeping moths from eating your clothes is very simple.
I have beautiful mohair and wool jumpers and many other types of knitted garments and I'm a knitter. Not once in several decades have I had moth holes.
This is because I use Epsom salts. Just the plain unadulterated Epsom salts you can buy anywhere. I always store my knitwear with these salts. You just sprinkle it over them and under them. A little messy but worth it. It doesn't damage them one bit, even cashmere, angora, or mohair. I also put Epsom salts in the bottom of my clothes drawers. No poisons needed. And I live in a place where there are plenty of moths.
I bought a lot of cashmere from Winser London by Kim Winser. She said she was on a business break since February 2024 and I miss her shop dearly. They have great quality.
I will go for the Massimo dutti but already having one experiencing a stretch out of proportion, I will go for one size less
I was just about to order a brushed cashmere jumper from Me and Em but now hesitating as expensive. Can you explain why brushed cashmere will not wear well please.
Shame about the moths, but I love Amanda's solution.
Also live From future neon knits
Got to agree with Amanda about the White Company..
😢
Loved the ideas. Love the Softgoat sweater. I am always up for moth tips as I love cashmere but so do the moths. There are 2 products I have come across recently - one is a chemical that stops them laying eggs (but it needs renewing every 3 months). I have this - so far so good. The other is a parasitic wasps that eat the eggs. I have not tried this. They are apparently tiny ,but not sure how I feel about a wardrobe full of wasps. Has anyone tried them?
Ziplock and 48 hours in the freezer or in the car on hot days.
I wouldn't. Solve one problem, introduce another...
What is the name of the chemical that keeps them from laying eggs, please?
@bob-gz7px A vinegar/water solution should work. Spot test first. Freezing it works, too. Wiping down shelves with Peppermint oil is another good trick. You could also try steaming the items.
Plain epsom salts, I've never had moth eaten clothes since I started using it 30 years ago. You just sprinkle it over and under them. Wool, mohair, everything. Doesn't damage but absolutely works.
If you put them in the freezer 🎉
💯
Sound is Sooooooo muzzy!
Do moths eat other knit fabrics or not ?
Mainly wools, but sometimes natural fabric like cotton or silk. Silverfish will sometimes eat most fabrics. Epsom salts stop all of them.
Jo, stop spitting on your cashmere. Amanda, obviously, your crafting looks like a million dollars ! ❤
Agree ! White Company is very disappointing. Cashmere is poor quality.
I say this with no disrespect, but I wish that Amanda would speak a little more quickly.
Hate White Company cashmere. Rotten quality!
