I have the same truck as you Rob and I’m going to keep the OEM grill on everybody changes the grill to the TRD pro and I think the 2020 OEM grill looks really great
Same here! I think the new Trd Sport/ Off Road Grille looks more rugged amd solidly built. All the videos I’ve seen of the Pro Grille, it reminds me of those toy model part sheets, where you cut off the pieces and snap em together. It definitely looks nice as well though. Maybe in a year when I get bored and wanna switch things up, but for now I like my grill and would rather not mess with the TSS settings if I don’t have to.
when I installed my aftermarket grill on my 2019 no issues. On my 2018 I had error codes after a few miles even after double checking connections. The difference was I had gone to the dealer and did the TSS recall update BEFORE installing the grill on my 2019. On the 2018 I did not. After going to the dealer they did the update it works as it should 👌.
Some folks are concerned that lifting your truck will mess up your TSS. Well, it's been two years since I swapped out my grille, lifted my truck and started running larger tires without any issues. I don't think the system is as delicate as most people think.
Just out of the TRD pro grill to my 2020 Tacoma. The sensor light did come on for a few minutes during the initial ride. After that I’ve had no problems at all. I did not disconnect the battery.
I had the reproduction TRD Pro grille (genuine garnish back when they only cost $60) on my 19 tacoma and had endless issues with the TSS sensor. 2-5 miles it would trip or even worse it would just stop detecting cars in front and not error out. I shimmed the sensor every way I could think of / read online (about a month of tinkering) as well as disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours to reset the system. Ended up getting the OEM TRD Pro grille (same oem garnish) and never had an issue again. I'm still not sure what the difference between the two was but my TSS sensor was not happy with its aftermarket home. My best guess its the angle of the sensor relative to the garnish.
It's funny how some guys change the grill and have issues. Some guys lift or level and have issues. Others do all kinds of crazy stuff and everything works. Kind of crazy. Mine has a cheap after market grill and garnish, works like new. I have a level kit in the garage to put on. I wonder what that will bring....
Did you have to buy anything else besides the grille? I see you have some sort of a panel at the bottom. There are two grilles, one with a big square hole and one without. Curious which one to get. I own a '23 SR. Thanks!
I have a problem with my toyota tundra 2020 truck.. I changed the front grill and now the sensor does not turn off the light is always on.. I disconnected the battery and does nothing someone help me
I asked about this but for a Tundra. Sparks parts says that it works and that they only are aware of instance that it didn’t. My local Toyota dealership says they won’t calibrate it due to liability concerns.
RobMotive i didn’t ask about a waiver, probably should have. Because of that they didn’t want to sell me the 2019 TRD pro Tundra grille. The offered me the Sport grille. So I went with Sparks and used your discount 😉.
This OEM grill comes with the camera mount which is perfect for Rob's 360 camera setup. All aftermarket grills don't come with that mount. W/O that mount, the front camera view will be off and would not look clean or seamless, on the radio.
Been thinking about changing my 2020 grill. The TRD pro grill looks awesome! The reason I think it looks better is because the lettering looks better than the badge. Awesome mod.! I did change the interior lights to led. Have you considered that Rob?
I want to do this to my Tacoma SR5. I went to my dealership and they told me that it tss sensor is $400 and the grill is $250 then i need to recalibrate of $500. Is this right.
I would say 400 for the sensor garnish , 250 for grill , and 500 is a scam . I did aftermarket grill 200 , sensor garnish approximately 60 US dollars , on my 2018 off-road no issues what so ever .
Helle Mr I has installed grill Pro look everything ok when I drive a over 1/2 hours the sensor is off then I turn off the start again the ok . Can you help me too adjust. Thank you.
Hi Rob do you have to buy OEM TSS Garnish or can you buy a aftermarket garnish because Spa auto parts said I need to buy their garnish and that is like 300 bucks. So I would like to know that you use an aftermarket Garnish
Where did you get the garnish from? I got the same grill from sparksparts, but the garnish is now $300 there. The garnish use to be $50 for the OEM, but at the end of 2019 Toyota raised the price to like $400 MSRP and most dealerships are selling it from $275 to $350.
Hi I recently bought a 2020 Toyota Tacoma off road! And on your TRD intake link it says that the link is unavailable and I wanted to know where I can get one? Also what is the website you purchased your trd pro grill for the Tacoma!?
Hey Rob I have a 2020 trd off road and I recently watched your vid and installed a trd pro grille myself. I had tss sensor problems early on after 20 mins of driving, so I installed 2 washers to angle it up. That worked periodically until I went for a 4 hour drive and the sensor stopped working and alerted my after about 1hr 30 mins. So as a result the cruise control was disabled the rest of the drive. What do you recommend I do next to address this problem?
I’d retrace the steps of the entire install to make sure everything is correct. I’d also disconnect the battery to reset the system. I’ve been told you need to let it sit for 2 hrs to fully reset.
Does it void any warranty installing this grill. I’m trying to get the dealership to add this to my new truck and they said the sensors aren’t compatible and it’s a big liability issue
Legally if it’s a product they sell, they can’t tell you that it voids warranty. They can try and say you have to be a certain level of training, but can’t even say that on oil changes.
I have the same truck as you Rob and I’m going to keep the OEM grill on everybody changes the grill to the TRD pro and I think the 2020 OEM grill looks really great

I like the new stock grille as well. I'd have no problem keeping it myself👍
RobMotive I understand. You have a yt channel and have to create Content

I’d agree👍
Love that grill with the lettering! Great explanation, key words "inexact science" nails it. Beautiful!
Thanks 👍
I bolted mine behind the horn using the same screw from that horn no problem! And one screw only
Great information! Although I like the grill, I’m going to keep what I have. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching Paul👍
Just out of the TRD pro grill to my 2020 Tacoma. The sensor light did come on for a few minutes during the initial ride. After that I’ve had no problems at all. I did not disconnect the battery.
With your lift it may be pretty close to its original location in the previous grill. Great video Rob
Good point👍
I have the same pro grill + sensor but I had the dealership install it all!
I had the reproduction TRD Pro grille (genuine garnish back when they only cost $60) on my 19 tacoma and had endless issues with the TSS sensor. 2-5 miles it would trip or even worse it would just stop detecting cars in front and not error out. Strange🤔
I'm always dancing to your outro music lol and like the bloopers
Lol! That’s great!!👍
I installed my TRD Pro grille about six weeks ago and haven’t had any problems whatsoever.
Awesome 👍👍
Did you use the Garnish Part?
I did👍
It's funny how some guys change the grill and have issues. Some guys lift or level and have issues. Others do all kinds of crazy stuff and everything works. Kind of crazy. Mine has a cheap after market grill and garnish, works like new. I have a level kit in the garage to put on. I wonder what that will bring....
It’s very odd🤔
No worries here
Hi. I have Tacoma TRD Pro of Rd.My PCS totsly not working. I realt want to know what is the issue?thank you.
Do you have it turned on?
Did you have to buy anything else besides the grille? I see you have some sort of a panel at the bottom. There are two grilles, one with a big square hole and one without. Curious which one to get. I own a '23 SR. Thanks!
I have a problem with my toyota tundra 2020 truck.. I changed the front grill and now the sensor does not turn off the light is always on.. I disconnected the battery and does nothing someone help me
I’d still check your connections 👍👍
Yea sr
I asked about this but for a Tundra. Sparks parts says that it works and that they only are aware of instance that it didn’t. My local Toyota dealership says they won’t calibrate it due to liability concerns.
That’s a drag! Will they calibrate it if you sign a waiver?
RobMotive i didn’t ask about a waiver, probably should have. Because of that they didn’t want to sell me the 2019 TRD pro Tundra grille. The offered me the Sport grille. So I went with Sparks and used your discount 😉.
Why the OEM this time? Didn’t you get an aftermarket for the 2018?
This OEM grill comes with the camera mount which is perfect for Rob's 360 camera setup. All aftermarket grills don't come with that mount. W/O that mount, the front camera view will be off and would not look clean or seamless, on the radio.
You are right exactly correct. The aftermarkets do not have the front cam mount.
I paid 50k for my grill. Kind of expensive. At least it came with a free truck! 😃
Now that’s a deal!!👍
Been thinking about changing my 2020 grill. The TRD pro grill looks awesome! The reason I think it looks better is because the lettering looks better than the badge. Awesome mod.! I did change the interior lights to led. Have you considered that Rob?
Yup. LEDs are on my list👍
I bought an aftermarket one, my main concern is that it will void my warranty. Will that be an issue?

Thanks
I want to do this to my Tacoma SR5. I went to my dealership and they told me that it tss sensor is $400 and the grill is $250 then i need to recalibrate of $500. Is this right.
That all sounds nuts to me! I’d find another dealer!
I would say 400 for the sensor garnish , 250 for grill , and 500 is a scam . I did aftermarket grill 200 , sensor garnish approximately 60 US dollars , on my 2018 off-road no issues what so ever .
Your TSS sensor is probably close to stock level again anyway since you lifted the truck.
Helle Mr I has installed grill Pro look everything ok when I drive a over 1/2 hours the sensor is off then I turn off the start again the ok . Can you help me too adjust.
Thank you.
There are a several variables that could be causing the malfunction 🤔
Hi Rob do you have to buy OEM TSS Garnish or can you buy a aftermarket garnish because Spa auto parts said I need to buy their garnish and that is like 300 bucks. So I would like to know that you use an aftermarket Garnish
It can be hit or miss. The important thing is to makes sure it has the correct part number on the back. No way do you need to spend $300 for it.
Where did you get the garnish from? I got the same grill from sparksparts, but the garnish is now $300 there. The garnish use to be $50 for the OEM, but at the end of 2019 Toyota raised the price to like $400 MSRP and most dealerships are selling it from $275 to $350.
I got mine on Ebay. If you search you should be sable to find it for a reasonable price. Just make sure it has the correct part number stamped on it👍
@@RobMotive what is the correct part number?

Have a look at sparksparts.com. You can also use discount code RobMotive for 5% of your order.

I have trd pro Leds are staying on randomly and no issues of the tss sensor. Anyone else ?
Strange. Haven't heard of that🤔
Does it void any warranty installing this grill. I’m trying to get the dealership to add this to my new truck and they said the sensors aren’t compatible and it’s a big liability issue
Depends on the dealer I suppose. I’d ask them directly👍
Legally if it’s a product they sell, they can’t tell you that it voids warranty. They can try and say you have to be a certain level of training, but can’t even say that on oil changes.
It depends Tim. Way too many variables to type out here. Just search this: Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
Hey Rob I'm looking to get a aftermarket grill on my trd 4x4 sport. What's a good quality website I can buy one from?
Check out runnin4tacos 👍
Thanks man!
