These evergreens are so dynamic, they have so many voicings and will change fairly drastically depending on your preamp. It's pretty wild I'm still not sure what to make of them.
In my experience, as in this video the medium output humbuckers are the better choice for metal in a more high gain amp. The amp does the work and you get more growl and clarity. The higher output humbuckers are better into classic rock amps like straight plexi’s and JCM800’s where they kick the amp in the pants a little and you get a great, straight in, hard rock tone. I often find the combo of high output pickup and a high gain amp leads to over compression and a sound that gets indistinct and more likely to get lost in a mix. Lead tones quickly get that bees in a can affect.
Great review! I'm in the process of building my first Balaguer. Would stay with the same pick up in both positions or would you have a feral in on and the evergreen in the other? If so, where would you put them? Thanks!
Sorry for the late response dude! Didn't see the question. I think the evergreen in the neck is a killer spot. I'd put the evergreen in the neck and the feral in the bridge if you want a heavier tighter sound. If you play a little lower gain, I think the evergreen in the bridge would suit it more. Probably wouldn't put an evergreen in the bridge and feral in the neck. Probably just a weird combo for me.
It's a sparkle purple. Balaguer doesn't do sparkle colors in the Semi Custom series anymore, buttttt the metallic stuff looks amazing! I have a satin finish thicket in moonstruck black that you'll see in a video soon and the metallic colors are great. I have seen multiple new metallic finishes that they have done (satin and gloss) and you won't be disappointed. These guitars are insane man.
I think it's tighter with maybe a little more bottom, but the main difference is in the upper midrange push compared to the evergreen that has a more lower mid focus. Not quite as tight, but certainly doesn't flub out on you.
Garrett Seghers I prefer the Feral mostly because of the more modern styling which suits my band more. The Evergreen is awesome too though for a more classic styling.
Man, that Evergreen seems to sing more to me, especially under the higher gain tones. That purple sparkle is amazing!

That's impressive. Can't really go wrong with any of their pickups by the sounds of it.
Damn I'm really digging that evergreen a lot.

Nice man! What’s the core body wood of the guitar ?
Has the evergreen humbucker the split coil function?
0:44 and 3:39
love that color
Thanks man! Subscribe to the channel. You'll see more of it soon!
StefanShredsabit is it metallic purple or sparkle purple, looking to buy a semi custom from balaguer and not sure which one

Evergreen all day long. Wow 👌
Would you say the feral has more bass?
