I love this about Maine’s fishery! So envious of that.. my kids would have to win the lottery here in Canada to have a chance at it. Guess it’s mowing lawns for the summer lol.

Lexi, amazing work! You are working hard and learning valuable lessons about business. Please remember.. Other people work very hard too.
I was digging for steamer clams at your age. It was the most back breaking horrible work I have ever done. Black flies, horseflies, itchy mud with the sun burning my skin was horrible. My friend and I saved enough to buy a small boat and traveled to islands that were unaffected from red tide. Some days two pecks.. others two bushels. We were glad to move on to other types of work.
What i hope you will remember, is to stay humble. You were given alot of advantages to get to this point so early in life. But I am sure you receive all the support you need to have a bright future.
Congratulations on all success you will have in your life.

great place and good video---my family owned a cottage right there at S Harpswell for many years brothers and i would visit there summers and go boating and fishing....great fun and
weather...have a cousin local there still... Saxton family owns the what you see at the end
of the video... called Dolphin Marina , and Dolphin restaurant which you see by rockshore
straight back from that big yacht sitting there...just down from Brunswick Maine not far...
highly recommend the restaurant, medium with a small bar..great..nice big dock for
boats... of course great view from the restaurant .. and not far from Freeport Maine,
which has LL Bean and outlet stores... i liked the nice scenic drive on the way there...
Lexi i give thumbs up doing that job..pretty tuff.. bc i know, and fisherman know,
that job is much more than most regular jobs... you have to keep with boat and motor,
safety aspects, traps and equipment, and daily costs for bait,fuel,et,et...and weather,
out on the water can be dangerous... certainly earns it.. and i like as a girl she comes
from fishing family and calls herself traditional name 'lobsterman' ... their accent
it actually sounds like 'lobster mun' .. i always liked Maine accent ..my parents had it...
anyways... really great views for short video whoever filmed ... lol

Well done, Knack Factory! Great story and very cool young Maine entrepreneur! Nice to see this kind of active, entrepreneurial lifestyle being supported for a young person. Thanks for sharing Maine Coast Fisherman! Bravo to young Lexie for sharing the enjoyment and importance of investing back into the business. Very cool.
    ...
I would have loved this kind of opportunity at that age: to be active and engaged while creating a real business model around it... I think public education should incorporate entrepreneurial or trade-based training/opportunities much sooner and as part of the core curriculum. The lessons of one trade (like lobsterman) spill over into ANY business and Lexie shared some of those universals in this interview. The factory model of education ("rows of desks, rote memorization") we have is an insult to our creative youth. I like what schools like Goodwill-Hinckley are doing in Maine (I think that's the name) by incorporating agriculture into every aspect of their high school curriculum. Any kind of vocational and entrepreneurial experimenting that gives students more autonomy and ability to succeed or fail in a supervised but less-restricted way... It doesn't matter if they stay in those fields later, the experience is so much richer and more directly beneficial to a prosperous life and healthy economy.
