- Ornithoctonus aureotibialis, Thai Golden Fringe rehouse and care
These asian fossorial tarantulas can be very defensive but also rather beautiful , an old world spider that should not be passed up just because its fossorial , everytime it does show its self it will blow you away .

Wonderful, thankyou Dave and camera lady. ❤❤ looking forward to your room tour. Xxx
Your forgiven 🎉 We love you Dave! ❤️
Is WOW looking for sure ❤
🤩
Loving these velvety ones
Your spiders are so well behaved (except the one that escaped when you first got to the new house 😂. I think it was a funnel web). You make me so nervous. Today and Mondays videos you had me on the edge of my seat 😂. I would have put them in their new home immediately. You holding them, taking pictures, talking about them and so on, and them being ones that are the more spicy ones, I believe you are the spider whisperer. I appreciate all you do to bring us the best info and awesome visuals of all the different spiders. I always look forward to your uploads. Can't wait to see all your able to do in the new Beastie room. You guys are awesome!!!!!
Thank you 🙏 ❤
What a beautiful spider! An elegant jet-black creature dusted with gold! 🤩
Old world species are always insane. I can't get enough
Stunning T and thank you for all the information that you include in your videos, great job guys 🫶
Thanks for watching!❤
Beautiful spider! I love the black!! Can’t believe how calm she was!!! You definitely know your spiders!!! Beautiful shots camera lady!!!
Thank you 🙏
Incredibly impressive handling for such a feisty species. Textbook rehouse.
Thank you 🙏
As someone who lives in Europe, after you said they can grow as big as your hand, I started shaking in my boots, afraid to go down into my basement. lol, Don't worry Dave, after watching your videos, whenever I come across a spider now, I just stay cool and calm.
😂❤
Masterful work at rehousing the spider with minimal strees as usual. Top tier
Thank you kindly!❤
Looking forwards to mossy frog update!
Ohh I cannot wait for the room tour! With you guys being so communicative with it I feel I'm invested in that room as well :D
Yay! Thank you! 🙏 ❤️
What a beautiful velvet looking spider. Thank you for another great video. Hope you all have a great weekend. 👍
Thank you! You too!❤
Wow, that kitten has more legs than I was expecting!!! (she looks so soft and pettable and the black part of her legs looks like velvet)
Stunning looking T Dave and so well behaved, she must've know she was in the beastie room 😂
Hi Dave, I love watching your videos and can't wait to see your new room in operation. I'm originally from Yorkshire but now live in rural South East Queensland so I have become used to living with Funnel Web, Red Back, Huntsmen, Golden orb Weavers etc. along with Red Belly Black Snakes and Eastern Browns. I give all my visitors a wide berth and try to avoid doing any of them any harm, but I don't think I could get as close to a Funnel Web as you do. I love my Orb Weavers and enjoy watching them in the early evening, doing repairs to their webs. I have a question with regard to the number of eyes that different spiders have, and I try to spot the eyes on your collection. Is it true that spiders can have more than one set of eyes and could you sometimes mention this in your videos. They say there is no such thing as a stupid question, but I think I may have just asked one.
Many thanks for your interesting and knowledgeable content, so looking forward to more.
Exactly what I'm currently interested in too. All about the eyes. I have no knowledge on it, whatsoever and would love to be more educated on the subject.
We will try and do a video ❤
Such a pretty tarantula 👋🕷❤👍! Thank you Dave and Sweet Camera Lady for an informative and interesting video! Greetings to you both and to your viewers 👋😉👍.
Glad you enjoyed it Susanne ❤❤❤
Morning Dave & Camera lady hope ya both having a lovely day the rehouse video was amazing as usual and she was such a beautiful spider
😍 She's GEORGIUS ❤❤❤
Yes she is very stunning
What an absolute beauty, my Sling is only 3" maybe 4" atm, shes made a lovely turret in the centre of the enclosure, thats it in my display pic. Cracking vid as always both of you, oh btw glad you like the gift we sent with the male pumpkin patch. Hope he meets the girl of his dreams haha ❤😂
It was awesome thank you 🙏 ❤
By the way if this advice helps anyone, wherever you get your food from crickets etc you can always ask which day the new stock comes in. We generally do this then gut load with fresh salad leaves etc a couple of days before feeding. Xx❤
PROFF its amazing whatching you deal with all these spiders with such ease and calmness. love all the talking with all the advice and help to the hobby for others to enjoy the hobby. some good footage CAMERA LADY. many thanks guys and take care--looking forward to the room tour
So nice of you❤
Anxiously await new videos at midnight here in Texas. I confess I am keen to see inside the Spider Room. Love to you and Csmera Lady. Her skills are growing.
Coming soon!❤
Fantastic stuff Dave, that's a wonderful species of spider 🕷, very beautiful, looking forward to the room tour Dave, that'll be great, anyway Dave another super job by yourself and camera 📷 lady Dave.
Thanks 👍
This is the best channel on UA-cam as far as I'm concerned. Interesting, factual and super calming. Gold standard. I could listen to Dave speak all day long.
And it's a bloody good thing those funnel webs come from China, the further away from me the better! 😂
Wow, thank you!🙏 ❤❤❤❤
@@danielhampsonI completely agree. I could listen to Dave all day. Videos are never long enough!
That's one beautiful and well behaved lady!
Really looking forward to the new room tour. 😊
Thank you! 😊
Bad case of jealousy here😅. As an Aussie I can only dream!! She is absolutely gorgeous! My new favourite. I was a cheer leader for Grammostola pulchra until this beauty. 💜💜
She is spectacular! She was very well behaved. Hope you and Camera Lady have a great weekend.
Thank you! You too!❤
Very pretty with impressive fangs!
What a gorgeous girl!
Hello great video information and rehouseing Dave
Thanks 👍
Haha did anyone else see the sneaky roach hiding on the side of the bark at 18:08 😅
She's very pretty
As always guys such a great video thank you 😊👍🏻
😊 thank you
I’ve learned so much from you about handling and housing my collection. Thank you so much! Looking forward to the new room tour👍
Awesome! Thank you!🙏
It would be pretty cool to see is a time lapse of the spiders making their new enclosures into their home. Definitely not an easy thing to do, as they are on their own 'schedule', but seeing things like them dig out a hole or web up etc. is quite interesting to me. This girl was well behaved for you as well.
I was going to say the same. Along with a good look at the set up
I just want to say you know your tarantulas you know what they need you know how to take care of them that's good God bless man take care of you and your wife keep doing what you do
I appreciate that thank you 🙏 ❤
Oh wo she is just stunning Love her colour
What a gorgeous girl , great vid Dave n Camera Lady ..
Very pretty spider. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished room. I’m most excited for your breeding program to start up again. It’s like Christmas morning every time you open an egg sack😮!
Me too!❤
first the funnel web and now the golden fringe, either these spiders are paid actors or you truly are the spider whisperer! :D
😂😂❤
Would love for you to do a care sheet video of the tarantulas also a full disclosure on what is the best thing to do with our tarantulas if anything where to happen to us thanks Dave.
Beautiful spider, Dave👍
She is beautiful. Can’t wait for room tour and update on spiders. Thanks for another week of rehousing. Enjoy your weekend and see you both Monday
Thank you! You too!❤
Another great video from Dave and Camera Lady 👍🏻 What an absolutely stunning spider! When she backed up slightly on the piece of cork bark I thought for a moment she was about to run, and with your hand so close... I was thinking 'here we go', but fortunately she calmed back down again just as quickly 😁
I would love to see a follow-up video in 1-2 weeks once she has established her burrowing and webbing 😀
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful Spider! Think Camera Lady might need to hold the torch as well as camera...As you said, you do not have 4 sets of hands! 😂
You are right!😂😂😂😂😂
Was just about to buy a couple of these. Great job dave
Thank you 🙏
Stunning bit of handling. Incredible work 👌🏼
Thank you! Cheers!
She is stunning
Hey Guys. It always amazes me how striking these spiders can be regardless of whether they are black, brown, blue, green, yellow, red, pink or a mixture of some kind. She had lovely thick legs and a velvety look to her. That is always something that will attract me to a species of T. She was definitely on her best behaviour for Camera Lady and yourself today. Always a bonus, even for the coolest Wrangler on UA-cam. Like all your viewers I'm very much looking forward to seeing the New Beastie Room once it is fully decked out with Wildlife. You've showed us some great spiders over the last few weeks, It's been a real treat. Take care Guys ✌💛
Lots more to come ❤❤❤
That's a beautiful tarantula, I'm jealous that I don't have one yet. In time, love the videos keep them coming!! Also can't wait to see the new room🎉🎉
More to come!👌😊
such a treat to see these spiders up close
Such a stunning girl! Had my eye on these for a while and this upload just made me want one even more! Great upload Dave, Camera Lady ❤
Ps Portsmouth tarantulas have juvies in atm £10 each 😉
Beautiful Tarantula. Glad she decided to be calm and gentle. Looking forward to the room tour. Thanks Dave and Camera Lady.
Our pleasure!❤
Never admit to age Dave, just say that you were testing us, and that we passed.
😂😂😂
Wow😮 black ⚫️ 🕷 is beautiful. dave, like you said, would be lovely to see the one to compare. I would love to see the comparisons she is mind-blowing 🤯 I love her ❤️ 💕
Ooh, that's a pretty one!
Besides my big female Cyriopagopus doriae, my big aureotibialis girl is probably one of my most defensive spiders, and i keep pretty much nothing but Ornithoctoninae sub family theraphosidae like Ornithoctoninae sp ho chi minh, Ornithoctoninae sp hai bia, Ornithoctoninae sp nhen dep, Cyriopagopus sp bach ma, Ornithoctoninae sp lam dong, Ornithoctoninae sp viridis, etc etc
Very very pretty ❤
Thank you! 😊
Great video. Beautiful spider. You really dont see too many of these. And the big females you do see alot is wild caught. Im gonna tey ans breed mine after her next molt. My male hasnt been ready for very long.
Much bigger than I thought it would be. Very beautiful spider.
That's a very useful sized terrarium, what make/size is it?
It is a 20x20x30 Komodo
The last video l saw was of a funnel Web l would quite enjoy when they settle a short video of your different Webber's showing the different webs. love the vids in any case thank you
It’s coming ❤
Such a beautiful spider
Beautiful girl and I can’t wait for your beastie room to open up from California good night
Great vid as always and very well timed as I have just picked up a juvenile from the SEAS show a week and a half ago!
As you said, stunning colouration and mine is currently just as well behaved as yours was, that's jinxed it 😂
Awesome, thank you!🙏
She is very pretty.
I miss your jewel spider . It's my favorite
Half dead tubs of food at Pets at home, that's a laugh, most of the time when I go in there, all the live food is dead.
If I ever buy food from there I make sure to give at least two meals with a verity of veg to the feeders before then giving them to my spiders - no point feeding hollow feeders to spiders!
This spider is gorgeous, definitely will add to my list for Taunton 😊
You crawled under the shelves after that funnel web. Don't even think of saying that you are old.
😂😂😂❤
Awesome spider Dave. A few colour markings aside, I’ve always thought this species looks like the Thai black a bit.
Instead of a machrofelly. It was a Holy mackerel. Lol no matter what mistakes you make. You still have incredible content.
Thank you 🙏 ❤
Awesome video you two. Gorgeous spider. How old is the grand dame?
She is around 9 years now ❤
@
Wow! A testament to the excellent care you provide.
I love these spiders but mine is never out! So, I don’t feed her until she comes up at least enough to see her toes! Then I can tease her out with a roach and catch a glimpse!
Hey Dave,
How’s the new beastie room coming along?
Almost there ❤
When my curly hair was younger an would burrow an burrow Water dishe , i hot glued it to the side of incloser so it was hard for her to do it
I always check my water bowls at least a couple times a day, only because I'm always checking in on/looking at my T's, always make sure they're full. But it's very very rare to actually see any of them drink. I'm just thankful for milk bottle lids & tattoo ink pots, doesn't matter if they get buried. The ink pots i get are 3 different sizes, super cheap & the smallest 1s are perfect for very small slings. In fact i think there's about 4 in 1 of my enclosures, think my Vagans has a vendetta against water bowls 😂
Could you glue a water container to the side of the enclosure ?
Yes you could 👍
Dare i say with well fed feeders you dont really need a waterdish at all. Ive seen feeding videos with dubia roaches flat as a piece of paper. For those i say yes keep a waterdish filled at any time. In my spider room most of my waterdishes are bone dry. I fill m when my spider is in premoult but other than that they're bonedry. Good food is everything.
I keep a water dish in mine strictly for releasing gradual humidity.
She’s old with less gold . She is pretty and a big girl.
How much room do tarantulas need to molt? I was surprised to see her size compared to the size of the tub but I’m sure she felt safe in it :)
Plenty of room in there for her , we are doing a moulting video to exsplain some of what goes on ❤
Did you see the one Dubai roach hiding on the bark lol
👍👍
Dave would you recommend a higher humidity for a Bahia Grey Birdeater?
What’s the latin name?
@@chimpy666 Lasiodora striatipes. I’ve seen conflicting opinions during research.
I would keep the Same as an LP ❤
@@daveslittlebeasties Thank you Dave. Much love. ❤️
My rats, dubias, and crickets eat like kings and queens!! Because I want my snakes, lizards, and T's to be as healthy as possible :) Plus as an animal lover, I can't have any of my pets, even the feeder bugs, go hungry or be unhealthy.
Glad to know I'm not the only 1! I talk to my feeders, get special salad in just for them & im forever checking on them. Hubby thinks I'm crazy lol
it's me Jimmy hi Dave it's me Jimmy how do tarantulas feel they smooth furry I'm just curious I can't have any in my house cuz my mom and dad weren't allow it my mom won't even come in my room my dad would throw a foot he'd burn my room down I'm over exaggerating but yeah
Most are very soft to the touch 😊
🕷👆🏠
19:54 Can you explain the rationale behind backing her off the wood (when there was the added danger of her suddeny zooming forward and potentially up your arm) instead of having the bark in the opposite direction and gently touching the 'back' legs to make her go forward into the new enclosure?
He does what's ever easier for him or the spider moving them over to there new home, in all honesty it looks like it could be dangerous to himself that's why in some videos he recommends some people not copying him, this guy knows his spiders and trantulas individually how there going to act also out of ever spider keeper there is on yt he's one of the best like for example some so called aggressive or defensive species he can move without them reacting he's very good knows what he's doing
Sometimes it can be dangerous to holding some spiders or T's on a piece of bark and moving it with your hands but it's everyone to there own it's how careful gentle you are also knowing your individual sometimes moving them by touching them with a piantbrush can make them react more them moving then on a piece of bark he knows what he's doing
Also sometimes it's easier to pick them up gently on what they're already on them poking them out, which can make them react more also be harder especially if there in a burrow or webbing
Also using a brush at the front of the T nine times outta ten they will back up not run forward
Generally we have more control when moving them backwards but every situation is different and that is what dictates how we proceed ❤
You were’ too far out Dave. The Macrothele calpeiana comes from Southern Europe and North Africa….so don’t beat yourself up too much! Haha
Looks like she has blue Sox on and black shoes
What was your reasoning for keeping her semi arboreal? Knowing they are true fossorials?
I was experimenting with them and also bred them in arborial set ups too 👍
Last year i bought an adult female. Sh was very, very beautiful but unfortunately she died of constipation.
She was never a good eater, but one day i realized, that she was completely out of her burrow and her abdomen was very thick and swollen, despite she hadn't eaten in weeks. She was quite passive and i could easily pick her up with no defensive pose or whatever. When i inspected her abdomen, i realized, that her anus was totally clogged with dried feces... I tried my best to clean this up with a Q-Tip, When i cleaned her up a flush of feces shot out of her butt, but i guess it was to late for my little rescue-attempt. She died a few days later...
But now i have three slings again, about 2 1/2 cm long... Thump's pressed one of them is a girl too...
They are beautiful spiders with their pitch black and their golden shimmer on their dark grey abdomen. Like you said: you don't see a lot of them, but when you do, they blow you away!
I'm so sorry your spider passed away. So sad, but good luck with your slings.
Such a shame but many wild caught come with problems unfortunately ❤
Compaction can be cured if it's caught soon enough, I'm sorry you didn't catch it in time.
Where's Odin the big boy 😂
Waiting for his new home ❤
This is only tarantula make me nervous re housing . Super fast too
I know how busy you are so I hate sending PM's. Maybe this is something others might like the answer to as well. Males. I'm a beginner. Last summer someone gave me what turned out to be a male Mexican Red Rump. His last molt was Sept 2024 and his growth just skyrocketed. He's now fully mature with tibial hooks, a sperm web etc. It's breaking my heart watching him pace 24/7 trying to figure out how to get out. Sticking his little feet through crack between the doors, totally bald and starving himself. FB groups tell me...yep...that's how a males life ends. If this is true what's the point of keeping him alive. :(((( Would humane euthanasia be kinder?
You could always try and find a female or someone who has one to try and pair ❤
@@daveslittlebeasties Yes. I've been doing that. Offered him for free and would even ship him.
As my Thai wife would say...oh a snack....!
😂😂😂❤
