  • This is a 2019 review of the Halo Bassinet Swivel Sleeper and we cover all models including the Essentia, Premiere and Luxe editions. Which bassinet should you buy for your newborn baby? While the Halo Bassinest is great for co-sleeping, I think there are more versatile and mobile-friendly options at better price-points.

Mothers who had a C Section are the general lovers of this product. The pain that you feel after a C Section makes it almost impossible to get up and down at night. I personally love this product.

The whole benefit to this bassinet is how easy it makes nighttime feedings/diaper changes for the mother. There is nothing that I’ve found that compares. You literally don’t have to get out of bed at all and that is the draw. So I feel that unless you’re going to provide comparable items to substitute, your alternative options are no where near as adequate.
Also I found it pretty easy to move. Even easy to travel with. I took it on vacation and it hardly took up any room in my trunk.

Great review, we loved ours during the time we used it. My wife had an emergency c-section and this made it so easy for nursing at night. We got our off the marketplace for like 75 bucks, I will say the soothing center is terrible in every way but besides that we had a great experience. I also agree that it takes a large footprint and that was something to get used to.

This was a product I loved. From a mom recovering from birth it’s genius. It is not a mobile bassinet though so I understand why you were not a fan. I feel like my baby was so safe in it while so close.

Subscribed to the channel and love your reviews. However, I feel like you missed the key features of this bassinets which is how easy it makes nighttime nursing for mom. The collapsible side are ideal for this and the items recommended lack this feature.

100% agree on getting a Halo Bassinet alternative if price is a factor, but we received an older version of the Halo as a gift so that's what we use. Our little one hated the large space so we invested in an insert, which has worked so far. It really does depend on the baby!

Absolutely my daughter loved hers but my son couldn’t stand it oddly , same as how they differed in pacifiers and swaddling. Baby number 4 is coming an we have EVERYTHING AWAY 2 weeks before we found out we were experiencing.. now financially I can’t spend a few grand all over so I’m on the hunt for gently used.. an it’s hard to find them reasonably priced on market place for some reason.. I don’t know why gave pretty much Everything away, I think I sold one of the 3 mama roo swings for $50 .. seems ppl would rather keep it rather then bargain a bit in price… I have seen so many sit there for weeks an no one is willing to budge, but I’m not spending more then half on something used, I may as well just spend the money an go brand new, and find it on sale or something.. anywho sorry for my long rambling response lol 😂

Buying second hand is a great option if this is what you want. We picked up our Halo for $80 in like new perfect condition. The swivel feature and collapsible side are great. Pack n Play with bassinette is our portable choice. Love your channel!

Option #4 just buy the halo bassinet used. It's decent. I would NEVER pay full price for it. The batteries ARE a joke, so is the effort required to replace them (AC option pls!?). In fact that whole unit on the front is a waste. The way the bassinet can be pulled over to your bed is pretty awesome though, but not $300 awesome. Also that cool feature where the front part bends down isn't so easy on the Canadian model, you need to click both sides first which basically makes the feature useless (literally never used it once). Keep up the awesomeness Dad Verb!

This guy is awesome! I’ve bought a few products for my son based on his reviews and they have been pinpoint. My son does sleep well in his bassinet that was reviewed but I do agree with some of the points he’s made, especially the lack of mobility and i’ve stumped my toe a few times on the base.

I loved the Fisher Price Soothing Motions Bassinet. It was incredible with my son. It also has a soothing attachment and he loved the subtle vibration setting 👍🏻 especially with his reflux. It just really calmed him. It has a light, I’m not a fan of the sounds, but they are calming enough for naps. It also rocks like a hammock and that was helpful for me. It has a cute mobile and my son loved staring at that and a projector that displays stars onto the ceiling (he also loved that). It also all mesh & breathable and he used it till he was 7 months old (when he sat up independently). It also has storage underneath with a mesh shelf for swaddles and more. I think it’s an affordable alternative to the Halo and it glides, so it’s easy to move from room to room. Only con is that it’s heavy and would be difficult to love in a home.

I'm considering the Halo Bassinet bc I had a standalone bassinet with my first and I hated it. Sure it had wheels so manuevering it was great... but we never needed to. I hated having to get out of bed and bending down to pick her up everytime to BF (back was already starting to hurt from BF). My daughter also had a medical scare and we had to feed her every 2-3 hours for almost 5 months too. I received a dockatot from my godmother, which we used as transport sleeping. My brother bought us the pack n play and we keep that at my parents house for when we visit or will grab it when we need it if going on vacation. We had the swing which we kept on the main floor. All in all ... I think I might still go for the base level Halo Bassinet. A lot of my friends loved it.

I was gifted mines after they were done with it. I just learned how to dismantle it to wash it. Right now I must say it’s bulky and DOES take up a lot of space. But I haven’t had the baby yet - c section delivery. With it being by my bedside and how sturdy it is, I must say it’s been super helpful acting as leverage for me rolling out of bed multiple times. It’s comforting to know how stable it is considering I will most likely be leaning and pulling on it post surgery to pick up baby. Hopefully it serves me well. I have hit my toes on it a couple of times and so desire my space back though. It’s so BIG.

My only concern is that most portable cribs/bassinets are recommended for naps only.
As a first time parent, I think I'd feel much more comfortable knowing that the bassinet I purchase is meant for bedside sleeping, if that makes sense.

  • @tux.bobble

We loved our Halo Bassinest with our first. We had bought a foldable bassinet for travel purposes and didn't feel comfortable with it so I went to 4 different stores looking for the Bassinest one based on reviews. I don't regret it at all. It's a little larger than our space supported bit we made it work and were very happy with it.
It's definitely expensive and I'm sure there are "as good" options for less, but we had a good experience with it. That said, every baby is different so what works for one might not work for the next. Just our experience.

I just received this as a gift from a friend and I’m so excited to use it. My husband is 6’3 and is so thankful he won’t have to reach and hurt his back. The only thing I’m very happy about is we didn’t have to pay for it and I also won a pack n play with bassinet attachment that grows with the baby so once our little man is big enough we will move him there. I will say it’s a bitch to move but thankfully have enough space in our room

  • @RobertTorres27

I agree -- the Halo Bassinet is not worth the full, new price tag. However, if you can find a used one in good condition, it's worth considering. My wife and I bought ours on Facebook Marketplace for around $100, and we're happy with it. Since the mattress pad has two washable slip covers protecting it, and new mattress sheets can be found on Amazon for under $10 (we bought a 2-pack for $8), we weren't concerned with it being used. To those interested in doing the same, just make sure the stand and the bassinet itself are in good-to-great condition. That's what's important. Also, make sure you have adequate space because it really is a large footprint. We covered our base with a plush tree skirt to make it look nicer and cushion toe stubbing ;-)

I found that all of my babies would cry after nursing when I would put them down so I would have a bouncer with vibration that would put them to sleep instantly because of the vibration. Is the vibration that the halo provides as strong as the bouncers?

      Mom Rivera not really

Ciscoheafy would you say it’s much weaker like the baby barely feels the vibration? Thanks so much for your response 😊

I'd say the vibration was pretty weak.

Unfortunately non of the alternatives you mentioned have the same functionality of letting you reach your baby while in bed.

Great point. On that note, I know some parents who prefer bedside sleepers where the side-wall is down and it makes for easy access to reach your baby: amzn.to/2IIZuUb

The Halo bassinest is an obtrusive piece of crap my baby hates. It is huge as you mention, I've stubbed my foot on it multiple times, but worst of all? It must be incredibly uncomfortable, my baby wouldn't do more than 15 min in it. We thought uh oh, he must be a problem sleeper--nope, we immediately got 2 hour stretches from him at 8 weeks in his crib. I think bassinets are a hugeee waste of money, I know lots of babies won't sleep in them!

No, you should not. Our son absolutely hated it and would not sleep. The infant insert was useless as well. BuyBuyBaby FTW on returns.
Our son, however, would sleep great in the Uppababy bassinet.
    Don't waste your money.

If you're going to be a reviewing channel you shouldn't recommend other products You should just review this one. It loses credibility. while we're not completely sold on the halo and looking for reviews this one will not be one that we consider.

    • @dadverb
      @dadverb  4 роки тому +2

How does that hurt credibility? Putting forth alternatives would suggest I’m not in the pocket of a brand and giving honest feedback.

@@dadverb As the viewer is seems like you might have a stake in selling another product. Even if you are not. Most product review channels follow this formula imo. If you are comparing products that's a different video and title. Again I'm not a content creator just giving my feedback. Were you trying to drive traffic to your other video maybe? No need to explain if you don't want to.
