Gessner and Clay here. A neighbor’s weather station picked up 104 mph winds here.
We had almost no warning at all. No rain, nothing. Then boom.
The wind went from 5 mph to over 100 in a matter of seconds.
🖤🐈⬛💨🤍
Can we appreciate how it was pitch black at 11:00, but not even because the sun was setting. You can literally skip an hour ahead and see how bright it was supposed to be at that time. This was an unreal storm to hit such a metropolitan area.
🖤⛈🌞⛈🤍
This is a crazy storm. Absolutely terrifying with the wind, loss of power, pure darkness that ensued in minutes, and those close lightning strikes. Once in a lifetime storm.
Definitely a very strong storm. 🙂👍🏻
You have fantastic footage here. I noticed (with headphones on) that the lightning strikes at 11:46; you can hear the thunder coming in like a missile at 11:52. That was a massive storm, and you lost electricity rather early into it, too. Thanks so much for the share.
🖤🙏🏻🤍
You can hear the whistling of the winds. Seems like y’all were close to the tornado
We weren't near the tornado, but just west & south of us is where the radar indicated the strongest 125+ mph winds. 🖤🌬🤍
I love thunderstorms I love having my room dark so I can see it and maybe film it with my phone so cool video one time hit a tree right next to my gate and it was scary but at the same time I love nature I also have weather station at my house it is a wind detector and a weather station thing where if their is thunderstorms coming a siren goes a loud noise and that protects the house and the family and informs us to get inside
Storms can be relaxing, but this storm was not relaxing at all. 😹👍🏻
I had this before in this year
👍🏻
So it essentially rains quite often in Houston! I am missing such weather here in Arizona. Though monsoons can cause such rain sometimes :)
Look at that wind shear
@@GregoryAlanBaileygamereviews Yes! I once landed in a weather like that, in Amsterdam. The immigration officer was shocked on how we managed to land. LOL
@@onurkpolat7296 Don't pull a Kobe Bryant.
You should post this as a relaxing rain video. It was awesome to see the lighting hit your tree, but where's the wind.
I didn't capture video of it because we were taking cover in the hallway. There is hardly no wind in your video. We lost dozens of trees and a couple of buildings in our area. 👍 though.
When did lightning hit the tree in this video?! The wind was pretty intense, you can see it in the Lightning Lab #22 iPhone View. The big tree in the front was moving like crazy!
Thank you! 🙂👍🏻
I posted a video of my experience with this storm. When I had started recording I had already lost power which told me a main distribution line had likely been damaged. That was indication number one. The second was the big bow echo on the radar with a tornado signature. The third was how dark it got and how quickly it happened along with the green hue the sky had. I thought I might get the tornado, but the winds alone were bad enough. Sadly my weather station back up battery had ran out so I only got a 63 MPH wind gust, pretty sure some of the gust I got here in Bear Creek were a little over 100 MPH. Same thing happened at my house gusty winds and then a calm rain before the straight line winds started.
I actually watched your video of the storm a few days ago. 🙂👍🏻 It would be cool to see all the local news stations, or even the city of Houston itself, put up Live 4K webcams around the city, similar to Channel 13's Downtown & Greenway Plaza cams. They could attach weather stations & include some of the data on the Live feed.
@@wattmilkins Yeah that would be cool. I really can't find much data on the winds in different parts of the city. Wunderground only has historical data from the big airports and a few other areas. Hobby got 102 mph. Someone in Spring Branch told me their weather station got 113 mph wind gust. I went through Ike and the winds were nothing like this!
@@billybassman21 Yeah, Ike was more sustained. This was super intense & there was little warning. The Hi-Res Velocity data on RadarOmega indicates 90-125+ mph winds around my area and inside 610 into Downtown.
Look at that lower level line wind shear on that updraft on that multiple vortices wall cloud high pressure inflow jet, line echo wave pattern is intense.
🤔
@@wattmilkins Sorry this is really exciting stuff for me. I'm a meteorologist so my terminology can be hard to understand.
@@GregoryAlanBaileygamereviews 🙂👍🏻
@@GregoryAlanBaileygamereviewsthought you were just an AI comment lmao
@@sourberrydood9388 you never know nowadays
Sounds like one of your cameras got filled with water.
Yes, the GoPro got water in the mic. Not to worry though because it is waterproof!
The storm literally formed over y’all’s neighborhood
Definitely had a front row view. 🌬👀😹
is thaT A HIGHWAY i hear
No you hear rain & wind.
