@@Maatization he'd already made his passes at Florence and she flat turned him down. The only type who could stomach the idea of having a frog faced toad like berry Gordy slithering on top of them would be a bug-eyed witch. A cheap strumpet like Diane Ross.
In my humble opinion her best albums were those produced by Ashford and Simpson, particularly her first solo album "Diana Ross". Every song on that one is great and she really showed off her vocal chops. I hung in there with her when she tried some hip hop flavor with "Workin' Overtime" but, overtime or not, it didn't quite work. Somewhat better was the album "The Force Behind the Power" which contained too many clunkers but also included the gorgeous ballad "If We Hold On Together" which was a huge hit overseas. Much is made of the RCA album in this video (because of the "deal", the money, etc) but as an album it was weak, the production too safe and uninspired, and it felt like she was trying on styles of music rather than presenting a cohesive album. I never really connected with the belabored single "Mirror, Mirror" nor "Swept Away" (much as I like Hall + Oates, who produced it). "Chain Reaction" wasn't bad, just overly familiar, "Muscles" was fun as a novelty hit, "Missing You" a poignant tribute to Marvin, but the re-make of "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" added nothing to the original. This video says her most successful album was "Diana" but to me that was a 2-single album surrounded by filler, and I am a huge Nile Rogers fan. "The Boss", another Ashford and Simpson album is, cut for cut, a better album and has very little filler. Much as I love ALL her big Motown hits I really feel the magic of Diana Ross is most effectively captured in two powerful singles, the spiritually ethereal anthem "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand") and the downright epic grandeur of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Diana Ross is one tough cookie and deserves her stardom; she will long be an inspiration to many. Now Miss Ross, I adore you but stop with the lame remixes of your old dance hits and give us one more killer solo album. Hook up with them English boys like Tina did. I am quite sure you can pull an unexpected comeback off even though you've never gone away! All hail the REAL queen!
Can she not experiment with other styles!? It was good she did that to see what she could do and not be boxed in, and it was clear she could sing anything from that and from there, she could hone her skills on all those genres/styles.
DIANE ROSS............Motown's "Queen of Mean," The Supremes' "Pig In A Wig," and Berry Gordy's ""Ho' in a Fro!!!!!" That pretty much sums up how Diane Ross became a "legend!"

She has a seductive charm about her ,,,,even though I don't think she's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen by a long shot ,,,,, she still is a dynamic attractive songbird
She is one of the most beautiful woman though….
She came from a strong family, her parents didn't die until the 1990's. They were with her throughout her fame. Same with Beyonce. As a women, to last in that industry, you need a strong family and a a strong team.
After getting an obsession with Diana Ross. I can see how Beyoncé was influenced by her and I just love it so much! Beyoncé really studied the queen!
Yes Diana Ross is a legend in her own time she picked up and she did everything on on her own and she to stay with the rest of the Supremes now that's the selfish of them not to let her go because they would not suck seed without her
They would not "suck seed". LOL, that's a joke right?

The Primeetts did have a lead singer, her name was Florence Ballard.
Here we go with the bs 🙄
And then became The Supremes who wouldn't have a number one hit until Diana Ross became the lead singer . By the late 60s the girl groups thing was basically over the only reason the Supremes were still relevant was because Gordy was making Ross a star I mean cmon I don't remember The Shirrells or Shang ra Las having prime time TV speecials
