One cut that might be handy while practicing this cut is the scissors cut. It will make your twirl and pushing the bottom packet on the top packet a lot easier to do.

Can you please tell me the name of this deck!!
I discovered I can do the hot shot by first doing a scissor cut. This puts the two packets in exactly the same positions in preparation for the hot shot. Actually, I just realized that in the scissor cut method, the index finger ends up on the outer edge of the bottom packet, whereas in this video's method the index finger ends up on the side edges of the bottom packet. Still, it's easy either way to use the index finger to out-jog the card. Any comments?

I do have very small hands as well, but it works really good for me, because I do the cut a bit more efficient and I think it needed a bit more explaining for beginners. I could try to help you if you still struggle with this
