6??you MEAN 19!!!

1st album actually sold 19 million copies☺️
Josh Robertson No their talking about Lauryn Hill’s solo music
Josh Robertson Ooooooh. Yeah I just realized that the comment said “12” not “12 million”. Forgive me🙄
When you look back at her career you understand lauryn was never crazy... The music industry is clearly a sick place and when you choose peace and want to walk away from it people paint a crazy narrative about you.. I respect people like her, D'Angelo and Dave Chappelle who walked away at the height of their success and understand peace of mind and soul are priceless
Blak Bleach Don’t forget Maxwell
No she actually is bipolar
I wish I could triple like this comment. Peace of mind is priceless fr.
Dave chappelle said it. How the industry is sick

Let’s give Ms. Lauryn Hill the flowers she deserves while she’s still here. & lets be careful who we call crazy. There’s a whole lot more crazy things than a woman going MIA from the spotlight.
She just signed up for another tour and then bailed immediately. Hope her insurance covers breach of contract.
100%! this women is nina simone genius
With all due respect, a lot of what Lauryn talks about if you listen to her discussions in her MTV Unplugged appearance are very much symptoms of Bipolar Depression, specifically the subset of Bipolar in which someone experiences long stretches of abrupt depression followed by normal levels of functioning. A woman can have Bipolar Disorder and be a strong, talented, smart, creative, wonderful person. We need to stop acting as if having a mental illness would diminish her creative endeavors and artistic accomplishments. When men have a mental illness but produce creative work, such as Kurt Cobain, we celebrate them even knowing they were unwell. Why can't we acknowledge Lauryn's mental illness and celebrate her? Because Kurt was a white man, and Lauryn's a black woman, she doesn't get to be both flawed and gifted? I would ask you to please reexamine your words and open your heart up to the idea she can be both struggling with something and worthy of praise.

Yes. I love her documentaries!!!!
She really did 👌🏾
Loud it
the clip of her being booed as a 13 year old is absolutely heart breaking
Right, how can you boo a 13 year old
Ikr but the end is a testament of how not to let people put you down.
Her being booed only channeled her awareness and ignited her musical lyricism. I mean honestly the lady is bad.
And she wasn't doing bad. Just nervous. They didn't give her a chance

Bruised ego , and she created a classic album in spite of him. He was salty.
Pelly M very very true.
I'm actually surprised that he speaks so well of her, despite her getting in his plans with the Fugees. He speaks so kindly of her.
Pelly M I think Pras may understand her and value her importance and contributions as an artist to hip hop r&b music. He also may know something we don't about Lauryn and Wyclef's past relationship...but he is Wyclefs cousin so...
When naming people Ms. Lauryn Hill has influenced how could you not mention H.E.R.? The influence is sooooo clear it’s almost like she gave birth to H.E.R.. What strikes me about her evolution is that even though the stuff she started singing after miseducation wasn't quite accepted by the masses, it would totally be accepted right now. Its crazy how something can come full circle and obviously she was just way ahead of her time. Big up to you Lauryn. You've always inspired me. Even till this day. Keep doing you.
She was just ahead of her time
I'm sure she woke a ton of people up with her lyrics. And influenced the younger generations. Without her I assume the trajectory of music might be slightly different.
I started tearing up when other celebs sampled her songs. Even the beef with Drake, they still performed and he looks so happy honored. Ms. Lauryn Hill is amazing!

Lauryn was naturally pretty.
Eccentricka1 right, that's all I was saying like oh she looked really pretty right here and there.
Edit: and nowadays they wanna say colorist exist in the industry that's why we don't see or have any dark tone female artist out. Not deny it but they most forgot about Lauryn hill. It's no telling what and how far she would've came if she don't decided not to continue. But I think they talking about how things is nowadays in the industry. Because back then is was so many dark skin and brow skin successful artist.
is
Seyi Ajayi right, you can't deny REAL RAW TALENT PERIOD!!! That's what I'm trying get people to see now. But they wanna blame everything on the industry colorism. It exists and true colorism in the music business. But you can pull through if the talent is real raw and the music match and people SUPPORT IT. Artist nowadays simply ain't as talent like the people back than. And lack originality BAD.
She still is
She looks the same. Lauryn has aged very gracefully, no skin blemishes...She is still beautiful she just cut her hair. Those other artist often look artificial and we unrecognizable due to plastic surgery, etc. 👍
Why do these labels try to enforce abortions on these women in the industry it’s really sick 🤦🏾♀️
Coltrane 2 Cole
For a sacrifice
Sadly it's because fans don't want to see a pregnant woman leading a band...or they think we don't. Tabloids can't stop with the "fat girl" articles. And then you have to take time off to raise the baby, which throws further doubt into your future. Once you sign to a label they essentially own you.
They cut the check and want that money back, no excuses
They want blood sacrifices!
They want her as a slave. Committment to motherhood is a treat to their hold.
Seeing Drake smile like a kid in a candy store watching her perform shows how much of a impact she was on the generations after her
Lauryn choose mental happiness over fame and money and as long as she’s at peace I’m happy. Her album still sounds so fresh as if came out today (2022). We need our heroes like her.

I’ll never forget watching Sister Act 2:Back in The Habit 28 years ago and getting goosebumps from Lauryn Hill singing Eye on The Sparrow . Yep I remember reading an article where it said that he wanted to collab with her for the album he was working on at the time, which was Invincible. Unfortunately it didn't happen.
Yes! What amazes me was that she was only 23--she even acknowledged that she was a "baby" which was true but the WISDOM in someone so young astonishes me and inspired me at 20 years old back when "Miseducation" came out. I bumped that cassette DAILY. I can't believe people were judging her for having babies. So what! As long as she is a good mother and takes care of her kids it's no one's business how many she has--married or not. She is an incredible artist. They judged Erykah Badu for the same thing also.
Kristine Ilochi AGREED 💗🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
MJ always had an eye for great black talent.

Awesome soul....
I still miss him..😓🙁
Say what you want about Ms. Lauryn Hill, but she’s the truth and I consider her the epitome of an Artist just like Pras said. She’s Morally, Spiritually, Vocally, and Lyrically dope. Awesome job on this, and putting respect on this Woman’s name and legacy thus far.
IKR? Pras is cool. She should've been with him if she had to get involved with someone in her group. Wyclef came off as an ass in my opinion when he said she needed help like insinuating she has mental issues. Pras defended her. Kudos to him for that.

I just want to say thank you.
I've been sticking with your channel for a few years now and I am appreciative of the content you create.
These kind of documentaries help me as a woman! Truthfully, I never knew some of these things about her.
As an artist myself, I haven't taken that chance with the industry because I don't want to have to conform from who I truly am and I follow The Most High
which is frowned upon in the industry. In knowing that she stood firm, she lived the word. IN THE END, ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE WHO LOVE TMH (THE MOST HIGH) Shalom sister.
I grew up listening to Lauryn, she is amazing and as you say a living legend. I loved this documentary and learnt a lot I didn't know before, thank you!
That this is almost a hr. This is better than unsung..you better work girl. This content is everything. This research

Yes, it is! Excellent!
Thank you got doing such a detailed documentary. I don’t know why I was searching for one on her today. She’s always been my favorite and I’m not disappointed with this at all.
Thank you for sharing her story. I've wondered about her so much, I still listen to her Miseducation album. Ms Lauren Hill is definitely a master at her craft and a true legend.
She recently lit up the stage in Johannesburg 2 weeks ago. It was straight fire!!! She had Nas on there too. I died and rose again like a Phoenix
you are sooo lucky!! wow Johannesburg!
My fellow NJ sister . I was lucky enough to attend one of her cookouts
Was she late?

I’m 3 years late but thank you so much for this…I absolutely love her and express it dearly even my wife knows how much I love Ms. Lauryn she learned how to deal with it! Thank you for this content queen
This was awesome! Now, I loves me some mess but your documentation of artists legacies are where it’s at for me. Some things are reminders of what’s happened but there is also loads of things that I, as a listener, hadn’t consumed. I loved this.
Not gonna lie, this is beautiful. I love how you are allowing the stories of those who were misconstrued be publicly reclaimed in a place such as UA-cam.
Love how Praz stay 10 toes down for Lauryn, regardless..Period.!
Praas is very respectful!

Wow after watching this I have found a new respect for her. She stayed true to herself and didn't allow money, fame, or material things to interfere with her art and God.
Amen me too.
I have always loved Lauryn!! Best Female Rapper Ever
I agree with your comment! Your God-given talent, giving it back to the people is what it is all about and the rest will follow with God's guidance clearly!

I just saw her on Saturday , she was only one hour late lol but she literally looks like she just walked off the set of the Sister Act 2 , she has not aged and that voice. Oh my gosh, FANTASTIC
King McKinley 😂😂let her live
She cancelled her visit to my town. It was supposed to be my birthday weekend. I went to ATL instead. Smh. Still love her tho.
1 hour is good for her 😂
A hour tho
Girl you puts in the work! You need a production company at this point. And I loveeeeeee 💕 how you shed the necessary light on her life and legacy. Who’s gonna top this? I mean seriously, very well done 👍🏾 👏🏾
