this feels like a whole story. the animals gained sentience, and at one point made it seem like the humans were the bad guys. the story of the tiger cub and it’s adoptive penguin momma was heart breaking but at least there was justice in the end

Honestly, I'd take my chances fistfighting against a Tiger rather than a Penguin, any day. Tigers are ambush predators, and are built to kill Fast and Efficient. A tiger would snap my whole head in half and I'd be dead before I knew it. A penguin? Penguins are effective only at fish murder, nothing bigger. A penguin COULD kill a person, but not effectively, thereby making it longer and painful. Also noteworthy, spears are mid ranged enough to keep a tiger away while also not having to reload like a gun. A good spear would both injure the tiger AND keep it away.
So I'm Australian, and, I had obviously learnt about the horrors of the Australian Emu War. For those who don't know: A farmer had their field overrun with emus for, a couple months or so, who would keep growing more and more. This led to the farmer calling the military, who sent over a high-powered machine couple, thousands of ammunition, and two dudes with a truck. There were, a couple thousand emus in the field. So this led down to a full on battle, with barely any losses to the emus, and both the dudes either died or retreated. But as I watched the dude go against five emus, I was literally shouting "NO! DON'T DO IT!" And then was surprised that he won. Who knew that you only need one guy and an M16 to fight five emus.

When I was knocked unconscious, I was being stabbed by 5 spearmen, while getting shot by a shotgun just to die.
It took 10 minutes
Not even an assault rifle can save you nor you can outrun a thrumbo dude.
You need a kill box or an insane Archotech enhanced pawn could 1 vs 1 it.
