Yes, I am! Should have consistent video uploads over the next 2 months for sure and likely through the summer… sb140 29er video just needs to be edited. Sb140 vs 120, sb120 vs T429, stumpy vs T429… should be fun!!
Awesome to see you in Aliso, home trails for me. Glad to see you got a taste of some OC steeps. Hope you got to enoy some more trails in Laguna and San Clemente with view of the Pacific!
haha Well, in California anyway haha it will be a few more weeks till the canyon is completely open in Draper, Utah. I've got more videos on the way tho
Is this the 2.0 ? Good feedback. I rode the 2.0 medium but I’m 5 10. So it feel small. I felt the seat angle was 1.5 to steep. The rear was amazing, it felt nice and nimble, better than other enduro’s I tried. the front felt tall and awkward on steep tech climbs but downhill was super fun and plush.
New to your channel and love your reviews! Very insightful for shoppers. Would you please rank these four bikes from your most to least favorite, as if you could own just one? Based on your videos, my guess is...Ripley, Trail 429, Tallboy, SB120.
If I could only own one bike it would need to be something with more travel I think... that said, of the bikes you listed you have them in the correct order. Ripley is the easy winner for me... I should also mention that I recommend the T429 more often to people because it is the more well rounded bike... so are the Tallboy and SB120... more well rounded "trail bikes" than the Ripley... Hope that helps!
@@mtbyumyum Thank you, sir. I've ridden all 4 briefly and have a pretty good idea of what I'd get with each. Your opinion helps validate. Now I have to decide what is most important to me! And sorry to contaminate your Fezzari post with talk of other bikes. Was not thinking.
Looks like somebody has been working on 5 oaks after the rain. It is usually a lot looser, and is much wider so you can get going a lot faster. I will have to hit it before it gets all blown out again.
Interesting that you compare it to the Altitude. Other reviews have called the La Sal a quiver killer enduro bike where the Altitude is more of a hard edged race weapon. But I can kinda see the comparison as the Altitude is designed for response over plushness and neither bike is sized particularly big
Yeah, it may have been a sizing thing... good point. In any case, I've not seen any reviews on the La Sal Peak and I'm not uniquely familiar with the bike or the brand. It was less demanding/cumbersome than other bikes in this category that I've ridden and more maneuverable and easy to change directions than others in this long travel category. It wasn't overly demanding/difficult to get the bike to move or change directions even at more moderate speeds.
1 bike in the longer travel trail bike category would be Yeti SB140 LR... easy!! Climbs much better than either of those other bikes and can hang on any descent. The bike is magic!! Call Salt Cycles and order one... I think they're on sale right now too.... 801-943-8502
Welcome to California! My trials here in Marin County are steep 😅. Regarding the Fezzari I like the review from pinkbike. For the travel they say the bike can be twitchy. I was planning to test one but after the pinkbike review I will pass. Probably just ride a Santa Cruz megatower or a yeti sb160.
Sag was good after setup and didn't feel the bottom at all on the ride.... bike was set up for 145 lb rider. Not sure what else to say... maybe try it again with more air in the shock. The fork was set up with appropriate sag for 145 lb rider and didn't have a problem... I think it's just a squishy bike haha
As far as doing "trail duty", being playful, and climbing, how does it compare to the Pivot Firebird? In your Firebird video, you seemed to think that bike could still be fun on a big day. Thanks for the great videos!
Good question. I have a lot more time on the Firebird. It feels burlier and slightly more capable when things get crazy…. I would need to ride them back to back but the Firebird just feels like a nicer tighter overall package. Firebird never felt like “too much bike” on more chill rides either
Been watching your vids for a long time Jason and I’ve often wondered what you would think of our local trails. So… now that you’ve got a sample- what would you personally own if this was your back yard?
Honestly, those climbs absolutely sucked!! Like, not fun. I get it, hard climbs are hard and that's cool and all but I would really hate to climbs those trails day in and day out. The descent are sort of similar to some of the trails out here... more like the trail Jacobs Ladder tho not as high speed, wide open, as Jacobs. I thought the descents were fun! Mo said they trails were in good conditions... I thought they were sort of blown out and dry....
Before I even clicked on the video I was like, did he hang out with Mo at SeaOtter, since he's reviewing the Fezzari? Then thought wait, this bike is too small maybe it's Hannas, ah probably not, and then I clicked the video :D

100% agree w Matthew. The T429 would have been so much better on the trails in this video. Funny, I just rode the T429 again this morning… quiver killer for sure!! I still prefer the ripley for my blue trails but the t429 has a higher speed limit

Totally superficial but with how good bikes are these days, I will not ride a bike I think doesn't look good....and that bike is absolutely hideous. That Linkage is a nightmare....all Fezzari's look awful.
Yeah, the frame parts just above the shock are a bit geeew imho but not the end of the world. I love riding Ibis bikes but don't really like the way they look. I prefer the look of Pivot and Transition bikes... just more appealing to me I guess.
