@@JAdeWii_ haha, thanks Jade! It’s an oddball of a synth. GREAT sound engines with a pretty POOR user interface. I haven’t tried the computer controller app, but suspect it’ll be very helpful in this case. I want to love it, I’m a sucker for that XV-5080 vibe, but the UI is putting a damper on the superlatives.

Ground Control uses MIDI Type-B TRS and the Poly Cinematic uses MIDI Type-A TRS. Nothing is ever simple. 😅
Neat! Something like this was really missing. Still, for me some things are missing here, even tho it would make the module bigger… it’s a little thin sounding, so rather fits in the background of your mix, therefore, a sub-oscillator would be a benefit. Next, I would like to see another VCO for sync and cross modulation, some more CVs in for filter envelope etc., and as I am a sucker for sine waves a trackable self resonance. This would be a fully useful, still basic polysynth.
I don't dare start a journey on the Eurocrack path, I've heard its highly addictive!

@@BubbaSatori I tried it and found it really uninspiring. My wife kept putting her head around the corner and asking "whats that sound" not a good sign. Made cat noises for a while and gave up, saving the $5,000 I would've spent on hardware!

You're vids are so good...it just kills me that they aren't in stereo--even though I see that you hook your equipment with stereo outs...do you have the channels on your mixer hard panned left and right? I feel like you're running your mixes with the left and right channels centered in multi-mono
You CAN plug the 3.5mm MIDI out to the MIDI in, if it doesn't work with just a normal 3.5mm TRS cable then you just need to reverse the polarity. Some devices that use 3.5mm will flip the polarity, like the Polyend Tracker. You can get little polarity reversing adapters. Good luck finding one though, I had to order some from some guy in Israel. For some reason nobody sells them.
the disting ex (8hp) is also a 8 voice polyphonic wavetable synth with effects and even a web editor which is very handy, but you will need the midi breakout module (2hp) to play midi with a keyboard, and programming on the module itself is not fun since there is a lot of menu diving, otherwise it's also a great alternative, plus another hundred algorithms!
...or drill a hole for a Neutrik MIDI Jack into the case and solder the MIDI breakout yourself. It's what I did.

The Vector sequencer is the perfect for the Poly Cinematic as it outputs poly midi.
You know I've been fiddling with how to do polyphonic Eurorack in my head for years now.
I figured a simple digital stream over the cable would be easiest, like the old PS/2 keyboard spec.
Or I could break the fancy wanky words and go for a simple analogue QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) with a small constellation of either 4 or 8.
You might need balanced cables for that though. But you could just use 3 pin mini jacks and use both balanced or unbalanced and then YMMV.
Interference might sounds nice though, who knows?
If you can add a third dimension too, that might make it so each note channel can transport gate, velocity _and_ pitch for 4 or 8 notes at the same time.

I have a mixed set up as well. I like my clunky hardware gear and I love my rack. I find that eurorack is really good for cinematic and sound scape type sounds. The sound on that poly synth is just not very impressive to my ears. I'm an oddball I suppose. I still think the old korg poly800s sound good and mine is my go to for analog poly sounds and I have a lot of old poly synths to choose from. Thanks for not adding effects into the sound all the way through. I am so tired of looking for product demos where I can't hear the raw sound. Always enjoy your videos - Thanks!

Maybe this can replace the 4 Befaco VCOs, XAOC Praga & Zadar that I patch as a 4-voice poly sometimes. That's a lot of patching and HP that maybe I could save. Thinking about it...

I can't help myself but: as there is only 1 trigger input, this makes it a paraphonic module, not polyphonic ;-)
FYI this module has a MIDI input and that is what was used in the demo.

@@geecen oh indeed I judged too rapidly. But even so, to me if polyphonie is only accessible with midi, it kind of looses its relevance as an eurorack module
