Absolutely awesome video! It’s one thing to look at a Denix replica posted for sale, but watching a direct comparison between real and replica is priceless. I hope you can do more in the future!
Thank you! I have a comparison video with a real and Denix Kar98 as well. I need to either own or have access to a real version of the firearm so maybe in the future a video on an M1 Garand or M1 Carbine for allied reenactors! We’ll see.
I inherited a P38 from family who did post war occupation and then Korea. During the family estate, a lot of guns was being broken up to family members who basically weren't into guns. I managed to get his Model 29 Dirty Harry and his P38. Brother got his bring back Tokarev. Very nice video and thanks for doing this. Always curious about the Denix and now I can see.
@@joachimprien4160 Conclusion 1: Denix designers have their eyes in the @ss, because the absolutely low price has nothing to do with the outer shapes of the replica. Conclusion 2: You have a brain in the @ss, because you don´t get Conclusion 1.
I've found myself one of the Denix p38 replicas. The inaccuracies aren't an issue for me, I'm turning mine into a Generation 1 Megatron, from the transformers.
Hey there, my model of it broke and I was wondering if you could make an internals video so I am able to repair mine! I know its been 3 years but it would really be appreciate it.
I’ve sold the Denix model shortly after the video was finished. It’s been a while since then but if my memory serves me right I don’t think there’s a way to separate the slide from the frame as the Denix does not have a functional disassembly lever. Potentially the slide is two separate pieces and screwed on. I would look at the slide and see if it has any exposed screws. Thats the only way I can think of accessing the internals of the Denix. But be warned, these things do not like to be taken apart. Hope this was some help.
I'm making a cosplay german uniform, not fully historical, for the over all look do you think this pistol is good? Or shoud i put out more money for a better pistol replica?
I used to have the denix but sold it when I got an original , here in the uk the denix it closer to $100 & a deact in nice condition around $900/$1000.a denix is a great value holster filler, but wont stand up to loads of " playing with " as they are only made of a cheaper alloy die cast metal.
Nice video, nice comparisons as well! I think the Denix P38 isn't as good. The lack of a magazine and slide lock kind of sucks. Their 1911 has these features. I just think they should've added these features, and maybe charged 60ish bucks for it.
@@succulentjacob Their Kar98K is overpriced. I think it should have at least a hollow magazine rather than a solid stock, and the safety should also work as on the real one.
Denix does great stuff at reasonable prices, and I love the P-38 model! Minor differences from the original can be overlooked, since replica guns are basically for effect (room decorations) or for play/fantasy purposes. One thing I think the company should have done is to offer a model with a Nazi eagle/swastika on the grip. They should do this also with their Walther PPK model. As a matter of fact, I think back in the last century they did exactly that. But not today due to political correctness. Another problem we need to be aware of is that, increasingly, replica guns are being banned in lots of places by all the "do-gooders" out there. Some idiots actually believe that if they just pass enough laws the world will become a perfect place! Idiots!
Bought mine at a gun show for $800. A little high up there but fair in my opinion for a matching, good condition P-38. Others always seem to have stories how they got theirs for $100 and a burger lmao.
Geez could Denix not locate or borrow an original to base their copies on?! Producing clunky crude/inaccurate looking copies of firearms is a Denix signature it seems. Lots of glaring differences and lumpish unrefined poorly cast pieces, and obvious casting seams, or casting marks that you did not point out but are quite visible. Another Denix product I would be disappointed to receive if ordered, and would not be glad to own, or show anybody. Their replica daggers are just as bad. People seem to be very accepting of these mediocre, inaccurate copies. To me they all just look cheap and flawed. Thanks for the comparison .
They primarily market these as "Display Pieces" with the assumed intent of being hung on a wall and never touched. The final product seriously falls short of being a quality display item, I suggest looking at it from 50ft away instead of 5ft. They could seriously tap into the market of making solid, well built non firing replicas. They have the reputation of being one of the very few display replica firearm manufacturers out there. The P-38 was bad, but the Kar-98k they make will give you nightmares, its even worse.
Well thank you for the video. I had never had an opportunity to look at one of their P-38's closely before, so it was nice to be able to do so. Companies will only build what people will accept and buy, so apparently there are enough buyers of these mediocre replicas that they (Denix) do not feel compelled to up their game in terms of making a more realistic product. A shame.
Well you can buy a cheap replica and be happy for what you get or you can buy a deactivated expansive real gun and be happy. Youre choice. Denix western guns are really well made for the price and the quality is really good. I’d like to compare Denix to Umarex. Umarex is not right on anything on their ”Colt Peacemaker” for example. Its also made out of really crappy materials. My Umarex pipe broke fell out after 3 hours. Bought it for 230$ and then refunded it. Bought the Denix revolver instead for 60$, not a single thing has broke after 3 years. It is awesome.

No question...just a comment. Thank you!!! That was incredibly helpful.
Cool gun!
I have original P38 too. Family heritage, from grandfather to dad and than to me. 🙂
That’s a lot cooler than getting it from a gun show like me!
@@succulentjacob It depends on what P38 you get from a gun show and what as a heritage. As a heritage I can get a flower and be much more happy.
Conclusion: Denix designers have their eyes in the @ss.
It's still a replica. It is at an absolutely low price. DENIX designers don't have eyes on @ss. \You have a brain there...

Not going to lie the replica looks very much like the original
Looking at the barrel... is it a luger one? Maybe using the same part for both guns?
Now that you mention it, it looks very very close. I wouldn't be surprised at all lmao.

Great video. Thank you!
3:13 Dry firing a weapon is not really recommended. I think it is to do with the possibility of damaging the firing pin.
Educate yourself before commenting.
Interesting video Looks ok as a holster filler or prop. the slight variations due to licensing issues that's all.

The Denix will be fine for that.

The original is beautiful pistol 🤗🤟
the magasin wont come out on the Denix a miss in my opinion

I agree, it’s not horrendous. I think their Kar98k is way more of a disappointment. Both can be made serviceable with some work.
@@succulentjacob Their Kar98K is overpriced. I think it should have at least a hollow magazine rather than a solid stock, and the safety should also work as on the real one.
Honestly the Denix looked more real than the real thing with the engraved text and red colour dot/F safety.
To my knowledge I don’t believe they were ever colored in. But I do like the look too.
oh

WALTHER P-38 = BEST PISTOL WW2❗😎
i would say it is good that they are not identical, but it seem like the repro is made verry cheep
I agree.
How Much Did Cost For The Original?

Νot get out replica p38 magazine
WE P38 is the best full metal P38 made so far, far better than Denix crap.
What or who is Denix??
Nevermind, read the thread.
Noice
16$ ? wow
The remark was clearly made by Chinese children in labor lessons!:))))
Gotta learn somewhere I suppose!
Not everybody can AFFORD a $1000 REAL WW2 German P38.
La più bella pistola
In germany is it illegal...
I have a P38 former Austrian Army issue. What`s the problem ? All u need in Germany is a permit ( grüne WBK )

I would keep the original one as a display piece (maybe shoot it once in a while), and shoot the replica at the range
