Mr. Rogues this is a weird request but I would really want you to make a top 5 best decade for DC. There are so many comics, movies, and shows about these stories but when was the best time for them?
@@sarafontanini7051 Yeah. In his first appearance, Luthor had a full head of red hair. But when drawing the Superman newspaper strip, the artist got Luthor mixed up with his own bald henchman, Lupo, and ended up drawing Luthor as bald. And for whatever reason, it stuck. Similar thing happened with Wolverine's mask. The artist for the cover to Giant Sized X-Men #1 accidentally drew the black eye parts of his mask much bigger than they were in the character's original appearance in the Incredible Hulk. But they ended up liking how the new mask looked and kept it.
9:27 Lex does have points about what would happen if Superman went evil. Problem is he only thinks that out of jealousy not because it would actually happen. He thinks Superman would try to rule over humanity because that's what Lex would do if he had Superman's powers. And he doesn't like people relying on Superman because he wants them to rely on him. In one comic when a computer worked out that Clark Kent was Superman Lex destroyed it and fired its programmer because he refused to believe that someone with Superman's powers would live a normal life because again if Lex had Superman's powers he wouldn't do that.
Ah, I love Lex. Be it Pre-Crisis or Post-Crisis, Luthor is just a fun villain. However, I think that the DCAU version of Lex is the only one so far to find the perfect place for him; let him be a dangerously efficient businessperson for a few years before he's finally taken down & forced into a more Mad Scientist-like role, leading Injustice Gangs & Legions of Doom front-and-centre, all while his myriad of gadgets are being produced through shell companies and underground labs that're funded by whatever puppet he's using as a CEO this week. The thing is that I actually vastly prefer Lex as a corperate tycoon both because it ties back to Superman's Golden Age roots as an anti-corperate crusader for justice & that making the American Alien's arch-nemesis a rich White dude who sees him as a threat to American democracy's just thematically perfect. Say what you will about the early Post-Crisis years for Clark himself, but Lex definitely benefitted from the revamping of the Super-Mythos. Still, even I can't deny the appeal of seeing him fly about in his Warsuit shooting out Kryptonite Rays at Superman.
@@princepagan I guess the Post-presidency-to-Flashpoint years (mid-2000s to 2011) would count? I don't know to be honest; like I said, the DCAU balanced out Lex's two selves spectacularly, and the comics, being a mess of conflicting idea by their very nature, don't really get to do that.
Great list Rogues. One of my favourite Luthor stories is Black Ring. Lex goes around the DC universe, looking for remnants of the black lantern rings in order to harness their power for his own use. Along the way, Lex confronts Mr Mind, Grodd and Even Death from Sandman. It is an awesome story that focuses on Lex and his obsession with gaining more power. It also features an android version of Lois as Lex's bodyguard/girlfriend.
I never believed you disliked Lex Luthor but all the same I'm glad you're opinion on him has improved. I hope Brainiac, Bizarro and Mzyzptlk will get this treatment too down the line.

Throwing in one of my favorites, 52: Reign of the Supermen, and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. Showing us how Luthor can trick billions of people is an amazing sight.
What about doing a top 5 best Prankster stories? Top 5 best Parasite stories? Top 5 best Mr Mxyzptlyk stories? Top 5 best Livewire stories? Top 5 Wonder Woman villains? Underrated Rogues: Arcade? Top 5 best Hobgoblin stories? Top 5 best Green Goblin stories? Those are just some suggestions for future videos.
For me, my favorite luthor story is actually the crossover event, Forever Evil. Lex is actually trying to save the world from the Crime syndicate, the evil version of the Justice League. I still prefer Lex as a clear cut villain, but this one was awesome as far as Lex is concerned. Your number one pick has a "Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow" feel to it. So, since it kind of reminds me of that story, which is my all time favorite Superman story, I might want to check this out.
As I recall, Lex's motivations for hating Superman were enunciated prior to Lex Luthor: Man of Steel, early in John Byrne's run, because those reasons sounded familiar despite my never having read that miniseries. My five favorite Luthor stories (not necessarily in order; sorry I can't remember all the titles): 5. The first Planet Lexor story (the June 1963 Superman), where Luthor lets Superman win a hand-to-hand fight so Superman can save the planet they've landed on 4. The Man Who Murdered the Earth (Superman 248, Feb. 1972); first appearance of the Galactic Golem 3. The Intruder in the Fortress of Solitude (the December 1971 Action Comics); Luthor is really villainous in this story 2. The Most Dangerous Door in the World (Superman, May(?) 1969); Luthor becomes obsessed with opening a mysterious vault 1. Superman 2 (1987), where a scientist in Luthor's employ discovers Superman's identity and Luthor doesn't believe her For a chuckle, read the Superman Giants from the '60s and early '70s and see how stories there are where Superman unwittingly hands Luthor something because Luthor is wearing a disguise.
Lex is my favourite super villain. It was originally The Joker until a few years ago. Here's my top 5: 1. Superman: Red Son 2. Superman: Last son 3. JLA: Rock of ages 4. Superman: Up Up and away 5. Lex Luthor: Man of steel But making just a top 5 is very difficult as Luthor has many great stories.
Rock of Ages rates at least an honorable mention for me. Both times he led the Injustice Gang against the JLA during Grant Morrison's run, they would have defeated the Justice League except for some larger cosmic threat interrupting.
@@VonWenk yeah, I loved how he employed business strategy to defeat the league. It was a great story. And when all was said and done he walked away Scott free after some quick thinking.
3:30 I am the same with the way with Luthor, i also love the story, it’s probably lex at his most sympathetic too, if I ever find it I’m definitely picking it up. I do respect Albert Einstein, he was a great and brilliant man rest in peace.
Lex Luthor is Superman's greatest foe of course, but I really like the stories you have of him from him being the mad scientist who wants to end the Man of Steel, but who shares why his hatred of Superman has gone out, and decides to change his character in the face of good. I really think of course like you said that Lex should be an ally of Superman, instead of being his greatest rival, and they should team up against other of Superman's common rogues like Brainiac or General Zod, that would be cool and heroic. Maybe for the next top 5 stories, you should make one on Bizarro, since he is my favorite Superman villain. Thank You again.
Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor combines the business man with the mad scientist and wears eye catching suits. The business man + mad scientist combo is best seen in non-other than the sabotaged, vandalized, cut-up movie with missing important scenes that explain plot points set ups and raises the stakes, “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace”.
I am really enjoying My Adventures With Superman and I am just DYING to see Lex in that series! He had appeared many times in cartoons like Super Friends, the DCAU, and so on. He had even made an appearance in Krypto The Super Dog where he had a pet iguana who got his claws on a growth ray that Lex Corp built and uses it on a caterpillar so he could eat it! Lexy would not like it if he found out that his own pet iguana was the one responsible for unleashing a giant caterpillar upon Metropolis!
(rubs hands together) The only arch-nemesis from comics perhaps more overrated than the Joker, yet somehow still my favorite from his respective Rogues Gallery! I don't know what it is that makes me like arch-enemies almost by default so often, but...(shrugs) Anyway, let's take a peek. Dark Victory - First of all, love the jokes. XD Second of all, I actually DO remember this one! I'm not sure I'd put it in my Top 5, but it MIGHT be in my Top 10. Might be. Hard to say. I like seeing Luthor essentially stripped to his bare bones and being forced to basically have a battle of charisma with a guy almost literally named "charisma." He's got to come at this as a human and a man of brains and brawn rather than a scientist or a businessman. It almost plays out like a spy story at times, which is pretty unique. The Einstein Connection - I have nothing to add in this case. I think it goes without saying this is one of the greats. Unauthorized Biography - This would almost definitely be in my top three as well. This is mostly because it really, REALLY feels like a film noir story to me. The story, the characters, the artwork...honestly, it feels like something from the 40s or 50s, when film noir crime stories were at their peak. And I know you make reference to that in the video, I'm not saying it's something you didn't point; I'm just stating that it's the primary reason this one is such a classic to me. Because, at least with the more modern day Lex, when you get down to it...that's the kind of character he IS. Once Superman's out of the equation, he's basically either a Bond Villain or a gangster film antagonist. And seeing him going up essentially not against the Man of Steel, or even someone like Krisma, but just the guy on the street is pretty fascinating. It's sort of like the Luthor version of "Joker's Favor." Man of Steel - Again, definitely in my top three; I'm tempted to say it might even be my number one. The keyword is TEMPTED; I'm actually not sure, believe it or not. Luthor's Last Stand - ...Wow. After four in a row that I knew and loved, your fifth and final one is the one story I've never read, never even HEARD of, somehow...and now I'm pretty sure my top three, or at least my top five, would have to change, JUST from your description. O_O You know, if you keep giving me comics to check out ASAP, I'm eventually going to have a list that stretches to the floor. XD ANYWAY, great wor,k as always!
I don't know why, but i really like the last one. Is like lex and superman put their past behind them and become friend. He found love and change to a new person and help others. I see him as a anti-hero and not a villain (most of the time).
Wasn’t their a comic issue where lex died and saw Neil gaimans death. When death told him he died nonchalantly while lex just denies it and death just chilled with it
You know if you think about it modern Lex Luther is like the opposite of Tony Stark. Both have a giant corporate empire and have superior intellect. Imagine if the two met one another. Would be one hell of a comic
Lex being destitute is a hard plot to swallow, really, given his mind and scientific ability... If he needs cash, he can invent some new tech out of spare parts, and either sell the patent, sell the product, or use it to steal funds.
Hey Rouges if you still Need some ideas for Spooktober I have found some characters that might interest you.Shauna Belzer(The third Ventriliquist, the meta human that has sortha magneto powers but not really and who thinks that her dummy is her brother. There are many versions of why Lex hates Superman, I like the animated version which is that with Superman, Lex is not the most powerful man in metropolis and for the first time he has somebody that opposes him that he can't threat or bribe with.
Never liked #2 and for some strange reason the best of Luthor I believe we can find in various elseworlds stories (ie Red Son and others) or during the New 52 where Luthor shined.
Darkseid has fought Superman. That is my attempted excuse to get you to talk about him. You should bring up that Darkseid was cut from the Justice League film and why it hurt the movie Badly. 🗿
Luthor is a cool character tbh. I dont have too much insight to give except screw BvS. Absolutely awful take on the character, anyone who says otherwise is wrong. I like to joke that Jesse Eisenburg was actually playing the Riddler
It's not like shady businessman and criminal scientist are mutually. Luthor had people working for him, but he was still the driving force behind Lexcorp's projects. The Alan Moore Swamp Thing issue where he sent Swamp Thing into space, I think, is a good example. Plus, even as a kid, his becoming a major villain because he blamed Superboy for his hair loss seemed like a stupid motivation. I'm not a fan of the gaudy super headhunter suit or the armor either.
@@VonWenk the "shady businessman" is too cliche. As I said he became a Kingpin clone. Also he was better when he did the work himself rather than forcing others to do it. His motives may have been lame , but, that didn't stop him from being interesting
True. Lex is more fun when he is a mad scientist or a criminal mastermind. When he is a corrupt businessman,I think of Kingpin. I know Fisk is a crime boss behind the scenes but my point still stands.

Kind of ironic how Luthor's baldness is seen as his most iconic visual aspect when you consider it actually started out as an artistic error.

5 Wonder Woman villains
5 killer frost/starfire/ power girl/ star sapphire/ zatanna/ mera/ Wonder Woman/ black canary/ cheetah stories???
11:26 was he friends with Superman or Clark, in Smallville?
You know if you think about it modern Lex Luther is like the opposite of Tony Stark. Both have a giant corporate empire and have superior intellect. Imagine if the two met one another. Would be one hell of a comic
I know this is your personal list of favorite Luthor stories, but if I may recommend one: The Lexor stories ?
Every villain has his rationalizations...
Lex being destitute is a hard plot to swallow, really, given his mind and scientific ability... If he needs cash, he can invent some new tech out of spare parts, and either sell the patent, sell the product, or use it to steal funds.
Please do more Forgotten Super Villains and top 5 themed villains videos
In that Krisma story doesn't he sabotage a submarine Lex built and Lex nearly drowns?
Yup.
You forgot to mention the time he stole 40 cakes!
That's as many as 4 10s
And that is Terrible
Didn’t realize Einstein was born on Pi Day! As such, Lex should have stolen 40 pies on that day.
Top: The Ventriloquist stories?
Best doctor Doom?
And I guess you know that he’s changed in year of the villain
I wish I had the other parts of the story on the #1 spot
I would have the black ring as normand and no.5 with superman birthright.
Top 5 Deadshot stories please.
Do a parasite and bizarro top 5, please
Hey Rouges if you still Need some ideas for Spooktober I have found some characters that might interest you.Shauna Belzer(The third Ventriliquist, the meta human that has sortha magneto powers but not really and who thinks that her dummy is her brother. She first appeared in Batgirl 20 in July 2013)Alex Merkel(the daughter of Ragdoll, she´s sorta like Black Mask with her real face being just a mask(the rest of her origin will probably be censored by UA-cam sooo) she first appeared in Secret Six Vol 3 issue 1 in 2008)The creature from 20.000 fathoms( have you seen the movie with the same Name.....yeah that´s what i could gather it first appeared in Batman 104 (right in between the Alien Batman decade(that is the scary part))the Ogre(a forgotten Batman villain that only appeared in one Comic, he´s a man that was researched by scientists to be the missing link in humanity, he finds an ape that was also "tested" on and then hunts down the doctors that turned him into the Ogre(kinda reminds me of Basked Case) he first appeared in Batman 535 in 1995)The Creature that devoured Detroid(d.....do I really Need to eplain what this Thing does…...well it would be another forgotten Aquaman Rouge and you haven´t really covered one of his Rouges in a while, it first appeared in Aquaman 56)Edward Hallen(………………..now look yeah i know it´s the most requested thing that i asked on your channel, but look it´s an okay Jeckl and Hyde character that is in one Story that will forever be stuck in the PSA region of Comics, but i like it and so did DC appearently since his comics cover is on the third Alen Grant and Norm Breyfogl detective Comics volume, he appeared in detective Comics 594)So uhm if you still don´t have that many characters planned for octobre maybe use some of these characters.
Or maybe he could just do top 5 stories lists for characters like Solomon Grundy, Green Goblin, and Abomination ;)
@@goblintributemaker2539 i would've also requemended a top 5 Anton Arcane video, but i don't know if Rouges red that much about the character.
@@armiproductions5680 I don't know much about him myself. And I forgot to mention it but Lizard would be another good choice.
@@goblintributemaker2539 good point, but Lizard isn't really that scary, Shed is messed up beyond believe but he's mostly a tragic character then scary.
@@armiproductions5680 I can't think of any other scary terrifying supervillains that he hasn't done though (except for Pyg but all his stories are basically the same). An overlooked Scarecrow stories list would be nice.
Ah Lex is SUCH a Magnificent BASTARD.Can you Do a Video about 5 Best Bizarro Stories or..Best 5 General Zod Stories someday?
I love a top 5 best Bizarro stories video. Do not care for Zod
@@tayojones9460 Frankly i dont know much about those 2.Mr Rogue has done almost all Bat rogues so those 2 were the first come to mind
Geoff Johns gave Zod more depth in his run when he depicted him as truly caring for Krypton and he tried to defend it against Brainiac.
@@goblintributemaker2539 Now he seems to be just a nationalist though he did seemed to help Superman and his famly agaist that big dude that killed krypton in the Bendis Superman run.Though that might still make him a nationalist since his reasoning is vengance from Krypton
Top 5 Overlooked Lex Luthor Stories?
Maybe.
There are many versions of why Lex hates Superman, I like the animated version which is that with Superman, Lex is not the most powerful man in metropolis and for the first time he has somebody that opposes him that he can't threat or bribe with.
i let the 2 ads play cause I like mr rouges
And I like YOU ;)
If lex luthor dont exist who will be superman's greatest enemy and why?
Probably Brainiac.
I don't think Luthor was a mad scientist, just a slightly ****** one!
top 20 superman stories?
Never liked #2 and for some strange reason the best of Luthor I believe we can find in various elseworlds stories (ie Red Son and others) or during the New 52 where Luthor shined.
Darkseid has fought Superman. That is my attempted excuse to get you to talk about him.
You should bring up that Darkseid was cut from the Justice League film and why it hurt the movie Badly.
🗿
Not one Lex Luger reference?
I don't care about slim Kingpin :V
Hey what is the reason why you (atleast seem to) preffer DC over Marvel?
Isn't Lex still a scientist in the comics?
I believe he's both a scientist and businessman now. I know he is considered to be the smartest man on earth.
Luthor is a cool character tbh. I dont have too much insight to give except screw BvS. Absolutely awful take on the character, anyone who says otherwise is wrong. I like to joke that Jesse Eisenburg was actually playing the Riddler
He would have been great as Riddler. He just needed a better script and direction.
He's my Riddler fancast bcuz of that movie honestly XD
I don’t think that version of Lex could work as Riddler. He wasn’t very clever which Riddler is.
Lol true, but I only refer to the actor. The story itself of course couldnt be Eddie
I was referring to the actor. Though honestly, I prefer David Tenant as Riddler.
Luthor was best as a criminal SCIENTIST! When they turned him into the Kingpin he just wasn't as interesting.
I think a combination would work, but less criminal kingpin and more just shady businessman and mad scientist
@@hiramdoup524 mad scientist and businessman are both very cliche
