I kinda feel like the media is being super soft on Farrel. I don’t care how good he is. The dude is a full time professional rugby player. If he can’t learn how to tackle properly then that’s his problem. He constantly throws shoulder charges at people that are already being tackled like that’s just someone being unnecessarily aggressive and putting player in danger. Isn’t that the type of shit rugby has been trying to get rid of?

@@camwells9726 20 weeks is an exageration - but George Moala just got 10 weeks this week for a tip tackle and he has no track record. Theres a blatant bias here
Bring back the shoulder charge lol 😂 I thought Owen was trying to strip the ball. I also thought he made contact with the wales shoulder first and then the head. Maybe I’ve been watching too much league lately lol, way more loose in terms of tackling.
This tackle is named for him. All a carbon copy, two in 2018 when named to two this yr. Only seen if a try is likely, but why, oh why in a RWC warm-up?
I thought there was an attempted arm wrap as well... still high, still shoulder to head but the intent? I think a yellow would’ve been fair tbh - but it’s Farrell, so they were always going to give a red. The other England yellows were more stupid decisions... the pair of them Arundell and Steward - school boy stuff!
"Not intentional?" James pls! The tackle is named after him & used in WR videos of whats illegal. No arms, jump the shoulder into head "the Farrell Tackle" controversially used twice in 2018 to no consequence, each a carbon copy of both this yr. Plus he knows, he only uses it when the defence is broken & a try likely. And why use it in a RWC warm-up?
@@jamesm9995 yep he just got off, red card an error due to other defender. I'm speechless, thats half a dozen times hes done it to no real consequences. All Aussie panel
It's unnecessary and inappropriate for the hosts to talk about "unfortunate happenings in the family" in the future being a ploy of SA. Espcially in the wake of Etzebeth and Hendrikse both losing their fathers.
Speaking as an England fan, I can't see him being at the RWC at all. If Farrell had a totally clean record for this issue I would support the idea of there being significant mitigation; Basham certainly did change direction due to contact with George and, most importantly, Basham went down onto Farrell's shoulder rather than Farrell's shoulder going up into Basham's head. But, as we all know, Farrell's record is nowhere near clean when it comes to high tackles. So, I'm afraid I have to see it as someone with a significant history of dangerous high tackles (both in domestic and international rugby) leading with his shoulder and making no attempt to wrap around and therefore the judgement should be that he put himself in a position where dangerous head contact was a likely result (he's been playing long enough to know players move about suddenly) and it is therefore his tough luck if something happens as a result. Given his aggressive reaction to being confronted by the Welsh players he can't claim any serious remorse and then add in his significant (and recent) history for this sort of tackle, I suspect he's in deep trouble. I'm expecting the appeal against the decision to revoke the red card to be successful and for Farrell to be banned for something like 8 weeks (by which time we'll have been knocked out of the RWC). It sucks and is probably harsh on Farrell for that incident in isolation. But, to be brutally frank, Farrell missing the RWC perhaps harshly bothers me a hell of a lot less than I'm bothered by the fact Steve Thompson doesn't remember playing in the '03 RWC Final due to the immense amount of head trauma he's suffered over his career. Any rugby fan with a shred of humanity should care more about a player being diagnosed with dementia and chronic traumatic encephalopathy at 42 than about tribal loyalty. The rugby world has to accept a few years of seemingly harsh red cards and bans that perhaps don't feel quite right to re-educate the players to tackle safely, or we doom future generations of players to the horrific fate many in first couple of generations of professional players are now suffering.
SBW came from League,he had to adapt over a Number of Seasons,he got red carded towards the end of his Career against the Lions in 2017,even after years of international experience and readjustment to his tackling, which brings me to why would you reverse a blatant red card given to someone who has been punished before on numerous occasions,is an experienced player who knows the rules, has been given readjustment training to his tackling and is still able to avoid punishment?🤔
Just read Farrell has been cleared to play next week, with the red card not being upheld. About the opposite of all predictions made regarding his potential sanction.
Owen F went to the Welsh player and apologised just after the incident. The Welsh wont want him there as they are opponents maybe in the quarter final.
He is English so they will give him 2 weeks. Do they not take history into account? This is a regular trait of his. He has never learned so harsh punishment
Maybe they remember when he was 19,20 years old playing flyhalf for the Stormers ..He kicked pretty well at the time ..But thn he started missing ,and they had to hand the kicking to SP Marais .Since thn he has been a part time kicker because he loses all confidence the moment he misses 1 .
We all know why Owen Farrell is getting away with this. World Rugby board is mostly England representatives and this need to change. 1 Representative of the top 10 countries and board change every 5 years.

Really this is the third time it should be the max 8 weeks. It’s obvious he hadn’t learned a thing

Something tells me they won’t dish out something really harsh here….
Come on Alan Gilpin and Co, dish out the goods to him. 😂
Well next weeks show will be interesting to say the least after today's decision.Good luck.
Maybe 6 weeks is right
T.WILL is a BEAST!
Beast for a good 10-20min
@@AintEasy101he’s had to put in massive shifts for the saders for majority of the season, 70 sometimes 80 minutes and he was amazing through out
I kinda feel like the media is being super soft on Farrel.
I'm welsh owen an amazing player, but owens tackle technique is mid chest to dislodge the ball, but he gets it wrong to many times, he hit basham in the head clear red card . But the powers to be LET'S HIM GET AWAY WITH IT. any 2 tier side with his history wouldn't play in this year's world cup. Scotland think they'll get out of there group .... honestly Ireland and south Africa in bigger trouble than they thought ....
You guys called it...Siya in the team vs Wales
10 weeks how long till he dose serious damage to someone... It's gone past the accident stage in my eyes!!!!!
i like all sports stars
Farrell no ban .how much longer is this rugby thug going to getaway with this. The irb should be disgusted with this pathetic decision.
Pollard will be available
Owen deserves a Victoria Cross, although the highlight of the game for me was Wales looking absolutely clueless against 12 men 🤣
Yeah no one's expects much from a rebuilding Wales side. England actually played better without him
Let's hope he gets 6 weeks to consider his technique.
he got let off.
@@kevinwillis6707 I read that this morning, unbelievable!
Sook
If it was Samoan/Tongan player hed get 20 weeks. Even with no track record.
Never like to think about about conspiracy in rugby ,but after this , it's very hard not too.
Not sure about 20 but I agree we wouldn’t be looking at the same outcome.
There would be a , we need to make an example of this guy attitude
@@camwells9726 20 weeks is an exageration - but George Moala just got 10 weeks this week for a tip tackle and he has no track record. Theres a blatant bias here
@@MrBoloYeung yeah bro I’m agreeing with you
World Rugby = RFU = World Rugby = RFU = World Rugby = RFU.
So much for all the expert opinion! Humble pie all round?
New fan from America... Who are the hosts? I didn't hear their names.
France are the hosts mate. 🇫🇷
Bring back the shoulder charge lol 😂
I thought Owen was trying to strip the ball.
Exactly right, he knows exactly what he’s doing.
Cause he's dumb?😊
@@jamesm9995 i've just seen the media calling for Farrell to be given a "Masters of Tackling" on his next visit. A bit backwards IMO
@@prof_kaos9341 I think he’s done that before. They are trying to make sure he doesn’t miss any of the World Cup games, similar to Fagerson.
@@jamesm9995 yep he just got off, red card an error due to other defender. I'm speechless, thats half a dozen times hes done it to no real consequences. All Aussie panel
Can’t wait to see the reaction to the Farrell news
It's unnecessary and inappropriate for the hosts to talk about "unfortunate happenings in the family" in the future being a ploy of SA. Espcially in the wake of Etzebeth and Hendrikse both losing their fathers.
Lmao the irony of Kiwis discussing other countries foul play 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well of course because it just happened duh
Dan biggar is often gobbing off so wouldn’t read too much into that
The fix is in
Critiquing the Scottish defence on the Ntamach try without realising they were a scrum half down due a sin bin with a split field, bit harsh
The commentary on the tackle ended up 180 of the results.
I like Bryn's Europoo's shirt
bryn hall was a good super halfback. all the best
And surprise... Decision gets overturned. IRB set the president so lets see how future culprits react to suspensions.
Euro poos; fitting polo shirt.
Of course it’s intentional. He is just a grub. Pure and simple.
Can we have a reaction from these guys to the decision 🙄
Just read Farrell has been cleared to play next week, with the red card not being upheld. About the opposite of all predictions made regarding his potential sanction.
Umm or not...would love a follow-up on Farrell🍿
He should have been through a tackle course. He is so arrogant he thinks he's above the law. Cant stand him.
Owen F went to the Welsh player and apologised just after the incident. The Welsh wont want him there as they are opponents maybe in the quarter final.
He is English so they will give him 2 weeks. Do they not take history into account? This is a regular trait of his. He has never learned so harsh punishment
Willemse is most definitely not the most accurate of the potential goal kickers, that’s why they’ve tried bringing in Libbok
Wish they had recorded this today instead so they could react to World Rugby's fumble with the Farrell decision. Absolutely ridiculous stuff.
Mean neff💯 Waihapa what!👍🏽
Its his 3rd time...after years of getting away with high shoulder charges before that...
would nt be surprised if the players decide to teach him a lesson..
We all know why Owen Farrell is getting away with this. World Rugby board is mostly England representatives and this need to change. 1 Representative of the top 10 countries and board change every 5 years.
